All Region and All State Team Predictions

I'm not sure how much of a lock Holzheimer is. To begin, Margevicius from St. Eds is outstanding and is doing everything for St. Eds... and surely deserves consideration for first team all state. Second of all Ignatius has other players, most notably Michals and Purcell, that are also extremely talented. Someone mentioned Flannagan who is also a weapon for Ignatius along with catanzero. Both of these players are underclassesmen though and will most likely not receive all state consideration. So I wouldn't say Holzheimer is a lock.

Based on the release of the All-Region Teams, we can start to piece together the All-State Teams.

Division I
Brad Brinkerhoff - Darby
Hayden Baer - Stow
Mark Klusman - Elder
Parker Mikesch - Beavercreek

These four will be on it. The rest will likely be out of this pool:
Roman Szwabinsky - Westerville South
Deion Woodson - Westerville South
Daniel Michals - St Ignatius
Phil Margevicious - St Edward
Luke Bowels - Moeller
Henry Huber - St X
Ryan Foy - Northmont
Matt Brindenbaugh - Northmont

My picks - Szwbinsky and Bowels, then either Michals or Huber
POY between Brinkerhoff and Klusman

Division II
Derek Topp - Dublin Scioto
Austin Gerwig - Hoban
Andy Schmidt - McNicholas
Andrew Rose - Alter

With the rest coming from:
Luke Hippler - DeSales
Kevin Gallagher - St Charles
Dom Ticchione - Walsh
Lance Talmage - Hoban
Nick Beck - Bacon
Reilly Dettmer - Badin
Anthony Gustley - Fenwick
Nick Barnes - CJ

My picks: Ticchione and Gallagher, plus either Gustley or Hippler
POY between Gerwig and Rose

POY D1 is a toss up between Klusman and Brinkerhoff

POY D2 can go either way, but with Gerwig a Sr. and Rose a Jr. may swing things, but also with the way Hoban has played this year only loosing to two D1's may go his way.

Good luck to all in the regional playoffs and ultimately state.

With the seasons Darby and Hoban have been having, I'd assume that Brinkerhoff and Gerwig would be locked in for POY's

For D1 1st team I'd also include Bowles, Woodson, and Huber.

I'm not taking Swabinsky. That guy needs an attitude check.

I don't think either Northmont kid is 1st team material, and I don't see Margevicous getting 1st team since his team his so, so bad.

I haven't seen Ignatius play at all this year so not sure about the Michals Kid.

For D2 the only non regional POY that I can guarantee gets 1st team is Gallagher. Top 3 Liberos in the state for sure.

Again to my state POY candidates. Both are the best player on the best teams in the state (Brinkerhoff-Darby, Gerwig-Hoban)

What position is Brinkerhoff? I think Klusman has an edge because he's a setter AND a big threat as a hitter/blocker at the net. Shame these two teams only met once during the regular season.

Was the older Brinkerhoff all state his senior year? Would add to the tally of brothers who have made it on an all state team. Other noteable families:

Meyer - Moeller (Lee and Nick) Both went on to play at Ball State

Kues - St. X (Brian, Derek, and Matt) Brian and Derek played at OSU while Matt was on the club team

Martin - St Edward (Sean and Connor) Both were excellent libero's and were on OSU's team.

I'm sure there are others, but the Brinkerhoff's are the first brother pair in many years to play at such a high level

Elder has a had several pairs of players win state titles. Not sure about making All-State teams but off the top of my head:
Wessels (Andrew and Craig 2008)
-Craig was POY, Andrew was HM?
Neiheisel (Jake '09 and Will '15)
-Jake was HM, not sure about Will
Luebbe (Ben '15 and Jake '16)
-Ben was 2nd Team? Jake was 1st Team

One current set that could add to this list:
Albers (RJ '13 and Wyatt '18) though the older Albers finished runner-up in '13.
