Akron Regional

WOW - Tilton with her 2nd straight Walk-off hit for the Panthers....and she's only a Sophomore!!

WTG PERRY

STATES!!!!

Not surprised that boardman lost that one. DiDomenico is very overrated. throws hard but straight. only a matter of time until good hitting makes that hurt. plus its nice to see another team have a shot at it. boardman acts like they deserve the right to go every year. my bet is perry will be there for the next few years as well with Fillez on the mound. good luck to Perry.

You're kidding right? Didn't Perry scratch one hit off of her in 13 innings? Hopefully Boardman still has the right mindset and incentive for next weeks game. Let's see how overrated she is. No I am not from Boardman, but I did need to respond to your post.

Stugots, you've waited what like two months to write that post again? You knocked her when she was INJURED before and even now I'm not sure she ever got back to 100%. That being said, she no-hit Perry earlier in the year (I think it was Perry.. the game they still lost 1-0), and quieted Hoover's bats for pretty much the entire game at Price Park. You haven't said a word about her through all of that but when they lose in the REGIONALS, you come back and knock her? Stay classy big guy

Idiotic post. Nothing you can say to idiots like this.

Idiotic post, DiDomenico is an outstanding pitcher. Perry has been able to get to her twice so far this year and hopefully they can get her one more time to win the Federal League Title.

What, Boardman should act like hey Perry we have been there it is your turn. That is BS, the top teams act like they should go every year. They strive for excellence and their goal is a State Title.

DiDomenico was pitching for the Spartans. She had a 2-0 in the bottom of the 7th and had a one hitter going until the Panthers rallied. Abbey Fillez started the inning with a single. Then Morgan McLaughlin popped up between the mound and first, but with miscommunication in the infield and a high sun, the ball dropped, but Boardman still had a chance to get Fillez running to second, but an errant throw went into left field making both runners safe. DiDomenico then struck out a batter and Perry's Anna Fach followed with a single, loading the bases. Shelbi Tilton then hit a double to the gap that cleared the bases for the Panthers win.

Sounds like the defense lost the game, DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS.

it has to hurt for the player (and the parents of the player) that made the mistake. In close games like this, it normally is the team the makes the least mistakes that ends up winning.

if the boardman pitcher is going to osu, that says a lot, as the buckeyes normally can draw pitchers from all around the country.

Go back to the winter

If anyone recalls, Perry and Boardman played for the Spano Dome winter league championship. Some of these people with the idiotic posts were probably the same people who said "so what" over that....Although it doesn't tell you everything, it does give an indication of the talent (in particulalr the pitching). Those two were among the best so it is no suprise they got this far.

I still say so what. Perry, Boardman, and Hoover were/are the best teams in the Fed and were all year. It sure didn't take a few indoor games on half a field to know that. The only reason Boardman made it two rounds farther then Hoover is the draw. Hoover finished higher in the standings, had a better record, and oh yeah - beat them both times they played.

First, I want to say to the Boardman girls, you all did a great job. We are so proud of you!! Congrats to Perry too. Good Luck in the State Tournament. I hope the Federal League brings home the state title!!

Also, if any of you Perry people could pass the website below to your first basemen's parents, there is an amazing picture of her catch where she had to stretch to make the play... It is a must for her scrapbook!!

boardman has under-performed. I know they have back to back regional semi titles. but the road to get to that game isn't that tough. I have posted time and time again. They cannot win big games. They have not won a big game in 2 years under the new staff or had a district or state player bc they don't vote. If my dd still played, I would be alot more vocal. Do you think Amero would have lost a 2-0 lead? Bman is loaded and will be loaded again...hopefully they coaches in there that will get them past the this point. I know players play but coaching has alot to do with it.

Sbqueen,
That list from eariler about federal league domination...Bill Amero was the coach during the state title and runner-up team. He is a great coach. I cannot comment on the new staff but I can say their team is very talented

I will agree with you that when teams, in any sport, are in big games where talent is equal, coaching usually plays a factor in the outcome. This could mean the direct coaching that takes place on game day all the way down to the mental and physical preparation set forth by the coaching staff in previous practice situations. It was mentioned in a much earlier post that Boardman set their season schedule up much tougher than usual in hopes of better preparing them for these big games. Their tournament road these past two years was quite weak and did not do them any favors in adequately preparing them for the task at hand in the regional finals. I thought Boardman had the better overall team going into the game. I don't think you can blame the coach for the pop-up that was let dropped. The Boardman first baseman obviously panicked when she hurriedly overthrew the shorstop covering second base on the force out play. Would this be the coach's fault??? I was not at the game. You have to watch the whole game to decide how good of a job a coach is doing in managing the game. Did the coach call timeout and try to setle his team down? Based upon what I know of the last inning, this could have happened to Amero or any other coach for that matter. I think Boardman somewhat underachieved this year, but alot of teams still would have liked to have had the year they had. Boardman will be in this same situation and game more than likely next year. Maybe the ball will drop in their favor this time around.

Polar Purple ... Nice list and research.
You need to add to your list: 1993 Austintown Fitch, State runners up.

I just went back through '98. There were definitely others beyond that.

MCGal - No, it was just going back about a dozen years, regardless if they were in the league. Boardman wasn't in the league before 2004.

A HUGE congratulations to the Perry Panthers, and also to the Lady Spartans. Sorry to see someone lose this game.

However....for now - best of luck to the Lady Panthers in the state semis!!! It is your turn now to win your school's very first ever state title. C'mon, ladies - join us Polar Bears in winning that first ever title this year!!!!!!
