Akron D II Regional

I might say the same about you since you have never heard of Poland. Let's hope for a Greenville/Poland final. The Poland pitcher is better than good, and she is not at full strength. I don't follow high school softball religiously across the state, but I am aware of most of the top schools year in and year out. Greenville obviously wasn't one of them.

why the need to mention that the poland pitcher is not at full strength? either she is able to pitch or not. again the point has been made many times that she is good, I have no doubt that she is. i have seen many excellent pitchers this year at all levels. the fact that she was invited to try out for the national team is a great honor. making it is the next step. I know a player who was invited a few years back as a freshman and as a spohmore and she was as good as any player i have ever seen. unfortunately she did not make it but she made the most of the opportunity. just because a player is invited does not make them unbeatable. there is no such thing. being a prohibative favorite has a way of motivating quality teams and players. nothing like beating a team (or in this case a player) who has been annointed as "the best ever". let the kids play it out on the field and see what happens. no doubt it will be a great state final no matter who is there. they always are. many times I have seen the proclaimed best pitcher go home with a solid 2nd place finish.

After seeing Poland in person on Sat, I'm putting my money on them to win state. The pitcher is virtually unhittable and will not walk you. Her ball appears to run from from the bats and she seemed to get stronger as the game goes along. Now for their lineup. Everyone except for one seemed to put the ball in play somehow. The score could have been worse if not for some great plays in the field from Fairless. Now the only downside for Poland, some of their fans. Some of these clowns were beyond ridiculous with the comments being yelled at the field. Poland is a very strong looking team that will be a tough out for the next two years. Good Luck at State.

i often see fans act like that when the team gets there only once in a blue moon. great programs know how to act (as if they have been there before). it really is funny to watch grown ups make fools of themselves. :)

As if the language and comments weren't bad enough, at one point in the game, the first baseman from Fairless was attempting to make a catch in foul territory. As she neared the stands and dugout, a fan in the front row stood up and blew an airhorn in an attempt to distract the young lady from Fairless. Are airhorns even legal in OHSAA state tournaments? The Poland fan's don't need to act like this, your girls are too good and don't need your help from the stands like this. Enjoy the run you guys are on currently and starting for the next couple of years, because it will be memorable for you. You don't need this other stuff in the stands.

the drums and the air horns being blasted while the opposing team is batting should be stopped. this is ignorant and i would think it has to violate some sportsmenship rule. the air horns seem to be blown right as a batter is ready to swing or when an opposing defender is fielding a ball. rude and ignorant.
