Will anybody challenge Buchtel this year. East graduated multi sport star Erick Holley, what do they have coming back? The Griffs return a solid nucleus with this years multi sport star Marcel Boyce JR. Firestone has a new coach, anybody else we need to be looking for?

As to the original question, no, there is no team in the City Series that will seriously challenge Buchtel for the title. But there is going to be a dogfight for the Number 2 spot! Ellet and East will obviously be in the mix. And I am hearing good things out of Firestone. I don't think they have the horses to make a big jump this year. But I understand the coach has them heading in the right direction.

Mark Fisher is back at Ellet. Lets see if he can get them rolling again in a year or two.
Who does he get to replace super assistant Chad Hazard might be the biggest question.

Went and watched Ellet scrimmage this morning at Massillon.
Saw four 10 minutes quarters and Ellet won them all -
10-8 over Tuslaw
11-4 over Strausburg Franklin
23-16 over Massillon
23-6 over Tuslaw

They were still playing when I left.
They wont be City champs but they did look better than last year and should contend for 2nd place.
They are guard heavy with some shooters and have a couple good freshman, one had lots of varsity minutes.
Mark Fisher back is definitely an upgrade in coaching.

Fight broke out in the stands that spilled onto the court, no players involved and all escorted to the locker rooms before the gym was cleared but not before they got the pepper spray out. Game was halted with about 5 or 6 minutes to play with Buchtel leading 46-45, game will be resumed after the holiday break with a fresh clock on the 4th quarter most likely.

Wow wasn't this the second time this has happened between these two teams,I thought last season it happened

From what I heard from the East administration, they plan on resuming the fourth quarter of that game at a later date. Also, Akron East played Saturday night, and they're 6-0 right now, having beat Massillon Jackson for the first time in program history. They could give Buchtel a run for their money in the City Series.
