700 WLW

i presume it was either Matt Reece or my favorite Sandy Collins!!
I'm pretty sure it was Reis, but it's all copy, they just read what's on the screen. It's gotta drive McConnell nuts when he has to sit there and listen to that. So in the days leading up to Tuesday, we should put a bingo card together to see what's mentioned. Trumps court trials, Jan. 6, Stormy Daniels, etc.

i know Gary Jeff enjoys the H out of Sandy Collins on Saturday mornings..

I haven't listened to 700 for years.

Dumb question..is Mike Mcconnell back? how long has he been back if he is.

The election is just a big news event. This morning Mike had his regular guest, Steve Roberts for ABC radio. What a goofball. He's saying how "explosive" and "emotional" tomorrow will be and how divisive this election is. He does realize he's talking like his group is the only people in the country? Yes, both sides has some whacko's but for the most part, people will be just fine and cordial. In fact, I think both sides are kind of cautiously optimistic for their candidates fate but understand they could very well lose.

I think Mike McConell's stance pretty much summed it up for alot of people. He said before the election, as things stood, he'd hold his nose and vote for Trump. Not at all an ringing endorsement, but no way Harris is ready to lead a country.

Mike in the morning is a great listen. Red Eye radio guys are constantly angry and are a pain to try to listen to. Not a fan of Tiff Potter on the Scott Sloan show.

I listened to Red Eye radio the other night with election results, never heard them until that night. I can't say I'd be a regular listener. I can't do Sloanie, the best thing about him is the commercials they do for his show, pretty funny. I don't get the Tiff Potter/ Sara Elyse segments?? I can ony guess it's a way to get more younger, female listeners. AM radio is largely a male audience, has always been and likely always will be. WLW's tried a few women over the years and they just don't stick. Potter is a music DJ on one of the FM stations and I'm sure it's just a way to recycle resources.
I have not idea what Sarah Elyse's job is. She's mid 30's / 40 very attractive female that seems to be used for marketing for all stations and social media. She used to do news at WLW but obviously there is little face time with that.

Is an engagement ring a gift, or just on loan only if you get married? Mike found a situation where a guy gave his fiancé a $70,000 engagement ring, only to ask for it back after he caught her cheating with another guy. This went to a higher appeals court who did rule that she had to give the ring back, a lower court had said she could keep the ring.

So this morning, Mike brought up that former football star and now football analyst and morning show host Michael Strahan was observed on Sunday at the game they were at not having his hand over his heart during the playing of the national anthem. First of all, there is no correct way to stand for the Anthem. For someone to make a big deal about this is nonsense. Why do we even acknowledge these things?

Cincinnati still having trouble with teens roaming downtown and causing trouble. Heard of a priest getting beat up trying to help someone being harrassed downtown. Who's that one Sheriff down there around Cincy, Richard K. Jones, the no nonsense guy. Put him in charge of cleaning up downtown. I'm just shocked no one has taken any real hard measures down there. Just start tazing kids who get out of line and locking them up.

Hamilton County and particularly the city of Cincinnati are blue areas. Democrat mayor, Democrat city council, Democrat sheriff. Nothing will get fixed as long as that’s the case.

Red/ blue/ green/ orange, thugs are thugs and there's no way anyone can be happy with fearing for your well being downtown.

Richard K Jones is Sheriff in Butler County. Cincinnati is in Hamilton County.

Well if I'm Hamilton County I try to go get him. Or at least make him a consultant or something. To me this isn't that tough of a problem, except no one wants to crack down. You're not being racist if you are going after vandals and ruffians, no matter what color they are. I would think the downtown business owners and residents would be up in arms to have to live with this.

You have to live in the county you run in for several years before you can run. It's more of a manpower issue than anything. Bothe agencies are short on officers. Just like many departments across the country. People are leaving the profession and fewer than the past want to do it. It has nothing to do with politics.

If you want to blame someone it should be judges. Law enforcement can make claims to lock people up but it doesn't matter if judges let them out.

And this rolls into jail and prison overcrowding. It's REALLY expensive to keep people locked up because we have too high a standard for jails and prisons. For many who are in prison, they live a better life INSIDE than they'd ever have outside, which is incredibly sad.

So every Thursday, Mike interview's Bengals coach Zach Taylor. Listened this morning, boy did Taylor act like he wanted to do anything else than that interview. Those things are nice when the team is winning, but in this very disappointing season for the Bengals, can't be much fun. Mike may have asked him harder questions than many Bengals reporters do. You could tell it was a little frosty.

So way back early December, one of the main bridges was burned in a fire and has been closed since. This has caused so major transportation problems in the Cincy area and it's going to cost millions of dollars to repair. It's suspected that the homeless are to blame as there are encampents under the bridges in most major cities. However, it's been weeks and yet no one will affirm this is what happens? Why do we protect the homeless? I mean it cannot be hard to check the area and find a few people who know what happened. Yet no one will attach a name to it? I mean what are you going to do? As far as I know, it's legal for the homeless to live there and when it's cold, you're going to build fires to stay warm and cook. It just amazes me how being homeless carries some kind of special meaning. In generantions past they were referred to has hobo's and bum's.

Love Mike. He was talking immigration yesterday and mentioned that many of those who work in his building are hispanic, he said, I say "hola" a couple of times a day to them. Now for some of today's folks, they'd consider this an offensive remark. But it's true, and the fact still remains that many Americans do not take jobs that are service, construction oriented. These immigrants - legal - do many jobs that others don't, and they are happy doing it.
There are countless owners of restaurants in major cities who say they would close if it wasn't for their immigrant work force. They come to work, they don't complain, they don't call off and they work. It's really kind of embarrassing that we have to say that about our own people.

The goofy part is I may start answering myself! 😂 😂 😂 Guess we don't have many WLW/ McConnell fans out there.
I actually did that a year or two ago, had such a good question I thought it demanded an answer.

As for McConnell, he used to be my favorite host bar none. They are wasting his talent putting him in the time slot he is in and then they give us a fairly funny, but not repeal smart Sloan.

Your 1000% correct. I do think Mike likes get his work out of the way early and golf in the afternoon when it's nice out. But he's so good as a topic conversationalist.
