Tigers Fall Short in Regional Finals: "Pride Remains"

The Circleville Tigers' season came to a close on Friday, as they fell to the Licking Valley Panthers 6-2 in the Division III regional finals at Chillicothe VA Paints Stadium. Despite a strong effort, the Tigers were unable to overcome the Panthers' potent offense.

Licking Valley got on the board early, with Silas Kyle singling in the first inning to score one run. The Panthers added another run in the second inning, courtesy of Brody Rodgers' single down the left field line. Evan Lichtenauer's sacrifice fly in the third inning extended the Panthers' lead to 3-0.

Evan Roberts was dominant on the mound for Licking Valley, earning the win with four hits and two runs (one earned) allowed over seven innings. He struck out nine batters and walked one. The Tigers' Glavine Bigam pitched in relief, allowing four hits and three runs while striking out two and walking five.

Chase Foster took the loss for Circleville, surrendering three runs (one earned) on five hits over two and one-third innings. Drew Thornsley, Foster, Kiser Cassidy, and Bigam each collected one hit for the Tigers, with Foster and Bigam driving in one run each.

The Panthers' offense was led by Cameron Sopher, Kyle, and Brandt Lichtenauer, each collecting two hits. Kyle and Lichtenauer drove in two runs each, helping to seal the win for Licking Valley.

The Tigers finish the season with a record of 22-8, ending their run as regional runner-ups. Despite the loss, the team's pride remains, having made a strong showing throughout the season.​
