2025 WOAC BASEBALL

Canan is running track I heard. A buddy of mine said Ansonia scrimmaged Botkins last night and they played pretty well defensively with the starting unit. He said they hit the ball too just right to guys. Really got out of hand when they put in the less experienced guys

Arcanum starts the year off 2-0 with big wins over Versailles and Miami East. Not sure you're going to find anyone with a more impressive start to their season than that.

Arcanum knocks off St. Henry to go 4-0. Has to be the best start in the area in terms of record and who they have beaten.
Definitely a great start for Arcanum. They've finished at or near the top of the WOAC the past few years. Can Baker lead this team to a District title this year? Going to 7 divisions should help.

According to the SWDAB website, the other Dayton area teams in D-V with Arcanum are: Anna, Carlisle, Dixie, Graham, Greenview, Greenon, Miami East, Middletown Madison, Milton-Union, Northridge, Preble Shawnee, Versailles, Waynesville, and West Liberty-Salem. They already beat them, but I would say Versailles and Miami East would be their toughest competition to make it out. Carlisle and Greenview could be dangerous because they usually have one starting pitcher they can depend on come tournament time.

There are only 3 ways out of the district as North plays south in all of them.
Going to be a dog fight in district semi games for this group. Way to many good teams for the spots available.
There are some divisions now that are more saturated than the 4 before.

I still think D7 might be the best division from D3 and below

Cincinnati Christian would be the one South school I'd worry about if I'm Arcanum. Both Country Day schools are D-VI now, and that should help.

I agree. D-VII has a lot a talented teams. I would not want to be in D-III. CJ, Tipp, Butler, Kenton Ridge, Hamilton Badin. That's a brutal bracket.

I would say for Dayton area teams the hardest sectionals in order are D-3,D-7,D-5,D-1,D-2,D-4 and then D-6. Anyone playing today looks like we got temps for state playoff football games today. Why haven't they posted the WOAC baseball previews yet? I always look forward to that.

Anyone else think the WOAC should split into two divisions? I think it’d make league games more competitive. For Arcanum, we’ve got 4–6 games every year we know we’re gonna win. A split could give us more meaningful games.
Something like:

Big School: Arcanum, NT, Preble, TVS, Dixie, Tri-V

Small School: Ansonia, Bradford, FM, TCN, Newton, Miss V

Play each team in your division twice and a couple crossover games. Would help with scheduling too—especially in baseball where non-league games can be hard to fill. Football might be trickier, but still doable. Two champs per sport.

Feels like it would help schools like Arcanum actually get more out of league play. What do you all think?

I would rather see the divisions with 2x each divisional opponent (10 games) and a cross over (6 games). They dont even play each other twice right now like most leagues (it is a big league, yes), but they play more non-cons than cons even with the second time they may play a WOAC team it being "non-con."

Not a fan, everything goes in cycles and there are bottom feeders in all leagues. The split of talent for schools was different 20 years ago, we just going to move divisions every 5 years? Randy has done an amazing job at keeping Arcanum towards the top of the league for a long time but they dont win it every year and it helps a lot when the likes of Pohl and Christ are walking the halls at the school. We all know Arcanum as a district (not the ball team) wanted less comp anyways. Bethel would of gave them a run for their money the last 3 years if still in the league. East isnt great but still would of been top 1/4 of the CCC.
Scheduling is not hard and actually gives the Arcanum's a chance to schedule better competition.
There is a real pressure in a round robin, go back to the CCC and I bet its hard to find a 3 loss champ, 2 might of got you a co-championship.
Perfect? Absolutely not but I think it works well for all.

Looking at how Newton does their scheduling, I don't think they would want to play Arcanum twice. I think the current setup is the best for all those involved. If you want a challenge, schedule the best you can find in non-conference. Arcanum has done a good job of that.

Yeah I actually look back at the last 4 years and we have beat Newton 2 times and they beat us twice. They are probably the 2 tops teams of the last handful of years. I think it would be great to see them play 2 times a year each year. Seeing number 2 vs Number 2 would be great.

Scheduling non con around the WOAC area is rough because it’s either TRC which is a good drive for many or it’s the MAC which is a closer drive but an overall higher level of play.

Nice win for Dixie against Arcanum's best pitcher. It's tough to run the table in the league. Christ's 14 Ks in 6 innings is very impressive.

Arcanum is probably correct, only 2 starters lost to grad. Christ and every other varsity arm back they should be the favorite.
Bradford lost 5 starters including Tucker. I dont see them reloading to make a run at the league this year.
Dixie lost 2/3rds of their offensive production but brings back arms.
North brings back all but 2 starters but i think there is a long way from 3-7 to top 4 in the league.

1. Arcanum, should go through pretty easy but history has shown they will lose a game they shouldnt to keep the race close.
2. Newton, only lost 2 starters and have Tippe on the mound.
3. Dixie, arms could keep them in games, will have to see where the offense comes from.
4. Trail, 5-5 last year i could see them picking up 3 more wins and finishing 8-2
5. the rest..........
And it has already happened................ :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Here is my updated predictions after a few games. I included records, I think Arcanum runs the table.
Arcanum 10-1
Newton 9-2
Dixie 7-4
Trail 7-4
TCN 6-5

After TV took Arc to extra innings I got a feeling your gonna be posting a couple more updated predictions. They still have newton. north and FM.
