I love me some 5 Guys but there's no way in hell I'm spending in the vicinity of $20 for a burger, fries and a Coke.

Unfortunately, I was not in line last night. But I do enjoy a good Blue Monster or Chocolate Peanut Butter Ripple every once in awhile.
 
All this talk and not one of you let me know that Rockne's in Stow closed. Heard it is going to be some sort of mid-scale place on the lines of the Burntwood Grill. Now if something will just move into the old TGIF's.
 
Seems the Rockne's are struggling around here. The one by Chapel Hill has never seemed to have recovered since Covid hit. Their menu changed (ie out of items) and there hours are banker hours.

The one in Kent also seems to be much slower. Really enjoyed going there in the past but just not that interested anymore. Maybe we'll make a special trip to the Kent one for old times sake.

Actually, apparently the owners are the same owners as Darby's on 59. They are now reopening the Rockne's location as Steel kitchen or something with a menu similar to Darby's but with more capacity. Should be good....

Never been to Darby's. But have heard great things. So this should be great.
 
Here's a Beacon article on the Stow Rockne's. The family, the Mazzola's, have been in the Akron area restaurant business for a long time. If I recall correctly, they were involved in Wally Waffles a long time ago. The Stow location was a Grinders until they gave it up for a Rockne's franchise. The new generation will open it as the Steele House Kitchen and Bar in the fall.

Rockne's in Stow closed May 12, but plans are in the works to open a new eatery in late summer or early fall in that location.

Hmmm, this is intemeresting to Smoove. Didn't know the Rockne's in Stow closified. IF this new place is gonna be good, maybe Smoove can slip in and out with a chickie and not get recommenized when Smoove walk in tha place. Smoove got bustified aboutcht 3 years ago when Smoove had a semi-serious chickie and Smoove went into Rockne;s at night and one of her friends recommenized Smoove. Smoove offered to give her the bestest Mooves she ain't never had, but she said I was a pig and chickie needed to know what Smoove was up to. That ended that 'lationship, but Smoove did end up Smoovifyin' chickie's friend aboutcht 4 days later. Chickie's friend called up Smoove and said she anted to know if Smoove was all that chickie told her Smoove was. Well, Smoove ROCKED it and Knocked tha BOTTOM OUTCHT!!! Dang, right!!! Y'all gonna come frontin' on Smoove, Smoove gonna make boots knock, hecks YEAH!! Hopin' this Darby's will be dimly lit inside so Smoove can get in and outcht quickly and unrecommenized. Smoove outcht!

I'll have to try it. I've heard good things about it, but heard it is small and crazy busy with ridiculous waits for a table. So I have stayed away.

Kind of like what Yogi Berra said "Nobody goes there anymore, its too crowded". :)

It is small and can be busy during peak times.

Most of them is classy and kinda freaky-deaky, and that just for a burger or gyro from Arby's (Smoove like goin' to Arby's 'cuz they claim to have the Meats, but after they have a sammich from Arby's, Smoove show them who rilly have the MEATS!!), Smoove just coulds not imaginate what they might do with some quality beef in them!! Smoove just offerin' some advice to Smoove's brothren, clark, not tryin' to get all personalizised, clark, just 'splinin' what is up, and if you listen to Smoove, YOU will be what's up this fall in T-Madge Town!!!!! In all fairness to Clark, what you are describing ain't merely paying $20 and only getting a burger and a coke. He'd be getting way more for his $20 than that. :)
