Due to timing of our school district's spring break and OHSAA dates, the event in Destin/Ft. Walton we have participated in the last three years is not holding an event the week of our break. Thinking outside the box, anyone else traveling and looking for scrimmages in warmer weather? Have room for another team to scrimmage? Any intel is appreciated!

then don't go. Let the kids go by themselves. Don't need their parents there anyways.
This is not an accurate statement in a lot of school districts. One parent/guardian had to be there when I was a parent of a high school player. There was a lot of time earmarked for "Family Time" on the calendar. This gave, deservingly so, a break for the coaches.

I agree. Trips out of state are beneficial to play 3-5 games but we are talking about 3-5 games and a lot of money for the parents to shell out. To me, and again this is just my opinion, it isn't worth the money.

I really don't know why they would require the parents and guardians. Do it like they do club swim teams. Travel together, three to a room, mandatory study time, scheduled walks with guardians or coaches that have their rooms paid for and most of all meetings about the sport (i.e chalk talk classes). Otherwise, I agree with you, it's a big ask. Do I think it is worth it with our short season and propensity for bad weather? Absolutely! But I take high school baseball seriously because I know a lot of the boys are working towards their high school careers and that it is the highest level they will play. If you can't trust the players to behave themselves, then don't go.

Ummm...not an option. Parents provide transportation AND rooms for players. Complete waste of time and money to do it every year.
I don't think so and read my above description. Even high school swim teams travel and stay together for out of town meets. Just organize it like that. The state of Ohio has an 8-week regular baseball season subject to really, really bad weather for 2/3rds of its season. Furthermore, the farther north one goes, the worse it is. These trips are an opportunity to: a) get early games without the weather impacting the play and b) a team bonding experience that they could remember forever. However, if these trips are organized like the some of the travel ball trips that turn into family vacations, then I would not support these efforts either.
