2025 Massillon Tigers

It's not the first 5 it's after that he's done for year. Last 5 and playoffs. I'm not sure how the rule works either. I thought if it's before the school year starts you don't have to sit. Same with how it worked with DaOne. He didn't have to sit for that just for a goofball saying he didn't move into the district. I thought the kids had a timeline to meet to enroll in new school to avoid the penalty idk

It sure appears that way if he enrolled after the mckinley game, but then again this is the OHSAA so I am sure they will try to get him to sit the first few games while they “look into it”.
🤦🏻‍♂️
Ok that's what I thought. Just wasn't sure. He enrolled right before the McKinley game so yea. But yea who knows with OHSAA

Yea actually it was 2 Copley coaches that I won't name drop, that followed him to his girlfriend's house smh. Ended up with a lawyer and a restraining order. All that after they kicked both boys out of the weight room before the move. They started to hear the rumors and told them both they weren't welcome there anymore lol.

That confused me lol. From how I took it if he didn't participate the last 12 months to the start of the of the upcoming season he's good to go. Dont see how before or after McKinley game would affect the decision. It says 12 months which would be a year from the beginning of the last season till beginning of this season. So by that if he even played in week 1 last year somewhere else he would have to sit the last 5. I didn't see anything about a one game penalty.

Ridiculous smh

Good luck trying to figure out anything the OHSAA does, we all remember the week of the Fitch game a few years back when kids had to sit even though some of them had been at WHS for a full year.

It doesn't matter when they got to WHS. All that matters is whether they participated at their previous school.
Well we are missing something then . Did DaOne or Dorian sit the last 5 games? They both played at their previous school and neither had the 5 game penalty.

They moved into the district. That's an exception.
This new kid has to move into the district to attend Massillon to begin with. Open enrollment for Massillon doesn't include Akron. He's not allowed to drive from Akron to Massillon. He has to live within the district so he shouldn't have any kind of penalty.

Incorrect. Massillon has open enrollment from the entire state.

I didn't know that I thought there was only one kind. I thought all open enrollment had to be from a adjacent school district
No. A district can have one of three open enrollment policies:
- No open enrollment.
- Adjacent districts only.
- State-wide.

Massillon has the third.

We do he's supposedly going to back Savior up. He's got a lot of potential. He's also playing some DB. Btw he has to sit out week 1 due to the transfer rule. So dumb. He's been here since the McKinley game.
why just one week? I'm so confused on these rules.. sometimes they have to sit last 5 games...

Without reading the guidelines I believe that sitting one game would be due to his mid-late season transfer (he didn't play so some of those should count toward sitting out). If kids came now they would be free to go as long as they move into the district. Someone that does not move in or is late will have to sit out 5 game (beginning or end of season). Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that is the rule.

They confuse me too. Someone even posted the rules and I didn't see a thing about sitting one week. All I seen is the last 5 games and playoff penalty. According to Oil Filter,DaOne and Dorian didn't have to sit out because they moved into the district which I didn't see that was a exception in the bylaws but I might of missed it. If this kid has to sit by that explanation he is going to be living in Akron and commuting to Massillon. Even with that I don't see how only 1 game and not the last 5

All I seen is if a transfer has played in the last 12 months they have to sit after game 5. Unless what your saying about he didn't play a full season at his previous school and they deduct games off that. All I seen in the rules though was if he played within the last year at his old school he has to sit after week 5.

So from my understanding, because he transferred during the season, which was week 10, his 5 games start from that week. So he missed the McKinley game and the 3 playoff games. So that's 4. Since he didn't miss a 5th game, next year he has to still make up that 5th game because he didn't move in. He just transferred. So once that 5th game is served, he then becomes eligible. That's my understanding after asking again today. But this crap is such bs. They have so many different rules for this and that. I'm glad our part is done lol, unless they want to come check us out again 🙄

Yep the mistake made with the girl's basketball team was a similar situation. Games from last season count but if you transfer late it may mean you must sit out early the next season.

That actually makes sense thanks for clearing it up.

It's definitely confusing but the rule is last five PLUS playoffs so how do the playoff games he didn't play in even count ? Lol Besides that if they do he should have no sit out games. We played 4 playoff games not 3. So Mck plus 4 playoff games is 5 games.

Yes my mistake. It was 4. And now that I have that correct. Im going to assume he enrolled and was on the team after the McKinley game. If that isn't it dude I'm completely lost lol. This shi is definitely confusing me lol
