2025 Federal League Football Official Thread

right

no worries, I think Canton will be developing QBs like you guys developed Daone Jones from now on

Just what gets posted on your team thread, and common knowledge like the TX kids last year, and rb from GO. Don't really track, don't really care.
Well it sounded like there were all kinds of transfers coming in now. That needs to be made clear. You are talking about last year

As I said, per your own thread, where a qb and rb were mentioned. Don't worry you are not the only one. Other Stark schools get transfers too. Even Massillon, lol. Don't be so defensive.

The Federal League had their Track Championships yesterday. Glen Oak won for the Boys, followed by Hoover and Perry.
3 weeks ago at the Stark County Championships, Perry was 1st, Glen Oak was 2nd, and Hoover was 3rd. At the District meet next week, it’ll be these 3 along with Walsh Jesuit vying for the Boys Title.

The Eagles also won the Girls Championship. Jackson was 2nd; Hoover was 3rd.

What do you all think was the best Federal League Game in each the last Five Seasons? I came up with what I think are the top three choices for each year.

2020
A. Perry 20 Hoover 14 (Week 3)
B. Perry 35 McKinley 23 (Week 4)
C. Hoover 14 Jackson 13 (Week 6)

2021
A. Jackson 21 Green 20 (Week 4)
B. McKinley 29 Jackson 28 (Week 8)
C. Green 14 Hoover 10 (Week 12)

2022
A. Green 29 Jackson 28 (Week 4)
B. Jackson 32 Perry 21 OT (Week 5)
C. McKinley 36 Lake 26 (Week 7)

2023
A. McKinley 28 Green 27 (Week 5)
B. Green 31 GlenOak 28 (Week 6)
C. McKinley 29 Lake 22 (Week 7)

2024
A. Green 21 Jackson 17 (Week 5)
B. Jackson 23 Hoover 20 (Week 10)
C. McKinley 35 Jackson 32 (Week 12)

About 1/2 way through the Track and Field District Championship at Hoover. All of the Federal League teams are here.
Here's the standings so far:

1. Glen Oak 53
2. Perry 48
3. Hoover 37
4. Massillon 30.5
5. Jackson 24
6. Green 23
7. Walsh Jesuit 22.5
8. McKinley 21

GIRLS
1. Jackson 43
2. Perry 43
2. Glen Oak 43
4. Hoover 34
5. Lake 27
6. Firestone 21.5
7. Green 16.5
8. Louisville 14

Just took a quick look at the Open Weeks thread, and it looks as though there will be no Week 3 game for Jackson. It's a shame that the Polar Bears will get one fewer chance to take the field in 2025 compared to everyone else. Bad look for the athletic department at JHS. With over 700 football-playing schools in the state, how does a school like Jackson fail to find a suitable opponent?

With all D1 schools (well, maybe not GlenOak) making the playoffs, there's no need to be excessively picky. In my opinion, facing a school like Moeller or one like Akron North would BOTH be preferable to spending the first Friday of September at home. The regular season is ten weeks long, the players and especially the senior players deserve a chance to play all ten. It's just inexcusable.

As expected the Federal League dominated the District Track Championship at Hoover. The Fed had the top 6 girls teams and 6 of the top 8 boys teams. Glen Oak won the Girls Championship, and Perry and Glen Oak tied for the Boys Championship. The Boys meet came down to the final event with 4 teams having a chance to win the title.
Here's how the team scores ended up:
BOYS
1. Glen Oak 89
1. Perry 89
3. Walsh Jesuit 87.5
4. Hoover 85
5. Lake 50
6. Massillon 49.5
7. Jackson 49
8. Green 37
9. Hoban 32

GIRLS
1. Glen Oak114
2. Jackson 104
3. Perry 87
4. Hoover 77
5. Green 62.5
6. Lake 49
7. Firestone 42.5
8. Louisville 38
9. Walsh Jesuit 31

By ducking a school next door which has made repeated offers to play. :stirthepot:
Even though this should be one of the Weeks 4-10 games in Federal League play every year (given both sides won't get their heads out of their asses) this was just a wild screw up by the Jackson AD.

Its one side not both. Jackson refuses to play Massillon not the other way around. As for this being a Federal League game that was one sided as well because they refused to vote Massillon in. Right now myself and the Majority of Tiger fans don't want to be part of the Fed. As much as I would like to see the polar bears vs Tigers it's prolly not going to happen in the foreseeable future. They have never agreed to play us so far I doubt they are going to now.

Massillon offers a home-and-home. Jackson says no. How is that "both sides"?

And now -- unless things change -- Jackson has lost not just a football game, but (far more importantly to them) a band show. Mebbe they'll march anyway. They should get about 75% of a football crowd, and -- if they charge admission -- a nice chunk of change to boot. If that works, look for Jackson to adopt a 9-game schedule from here on out, with a mid-season band show during the open week.

I mean honestly I'm not shocked with the size of Jackson they should be playing St Ed's, Moeller etc I never understood their program I feel like they have the tools to be a very successful division one program but it seems like they hold their own self back by being selective of who they play. I swear by no means on God's beautiful Earth should the Jackson polar bears have been playing Canton Central Catholic a few years ago like seriously?

As always, thanks for the Federal League updates!

My nieces graduated from Jackson. Two years ago the senior class graduated 465, This year they graduated around 515. Interesting how the district is growing. Back in the late 70s they were a farm community of about 14000 population. I'm assuming they will soon surpass Canton in population if they haven't already.

Not even close. US Census Estimates—2024:
Canton——69,211
JT————43,375

One might note, though, that the population within a city or township is not necessarily the same as the population within a school district. See: Massillon.

Why is football talk being constantly interrupted by track and field? Nobody is responding to it- get the point dude!

Yes, thank you for the updates.
I got the point. I’ll take your opinion into consideration though…

In other news, the Regional Track Championships start today at Austintown. The Fed teams are all here. The 4x8 and about half of the field events will have Finals today with prelims in the Sprints, Hurdles, and Sprint Relays.
One interesting event is the Boys Long Jump, where returning State Champ Isaiah Barker (Hoover) and State Runnerup Skylan King (Glen Oak) will compete. King won last week at Districts.

Interesting that there was crying about other sports in a football thread, yet in a certain school's thread there is chatter about baseball.

Here’s something different to discuss. As a 50+ year season ticket holder at Perry and before that, being a Panther lineman for 3 years, I put together a list of, in my opinion, the greatest players from teams we’ve played over that time. Unfortunately I don’t remember all the years each of these young men played, so I’m not including them.

Louisville- Ken Kuhn
Hoover- Jeff Logan
Jackson- Jay Rohr
GlenOak- Brionte Dunn
Glenwood- Tim Fox
Lake- Matt Christopher
McKinley- Morgan Williams
Alliance- EJ Lilly
Central Catholic- Vince Gilata
Massillon- Chris Spielman
Westerville South- Andy Katzenmoyer
Zanesville- Buster Howe
New Philadelphia- Cie Grant
Green- Trey Martin

No way Jackson should play Massillon. Why subject the Jackson kids to the cheating Massillon team along with their trashy fanbase?
I suppose the 6 mile drive combined with it being a local game and the return trip adding a pretty good crowd has nothing to do with why this should be on the schedule every year.

Martin's 200 yard 3 TD performance vs Perry as a sophomore in 2019 (which your Panthers still easily won) was his breakout game. I knew he'd eventually be a star player for Green, but I was absolutely stunned at how special he and fellow sophomore Trevor Van Horn looked that night.

Do you recall Green RB Devin Limerick's game against Perry in 2016? He broke the Green school record for receptions in a game (it was around 20). The 2-8 Bulldogs put together a gutsy performance, scored 30 points, and only lost by 5 to the eventual state runners-up. Kicker Thiago Nardi also hit a 45-yard field goal just before halftime in that one.
