2025 Elder Football

Talent is pretty… Ohio st is pretty on paper but soft as cream cheese cause no grit. They may have some.. Michigan with a walk on qb.. that had cancer beat them! That’s grit! Best players…a db..lb dint even play! Lmbo. Grit is ghey…. There should be rules who is allowed to talk on this! I think the soccer and swimmers thread is somewhere else
It’s fine if you don’t like soccer or swimming, but there are high school/Elder kids who do and enjoy it who probably read this site. Keep it classy, guy

It’s become abundantly clear that there needs to be a literacy baseline test of some sort before people can post here. I think I had stroke trying to read this guy’s posts
And knowledge of football is definitely not required. The 2025 football thread has become confused with swim team.. chess team.. baseball team
I can uunderstand your confusion

You mean like Estep? He seemed pretty tough to me, but he also has a ton of talent.

If this is Trey playing some type of "character", then I have to give him his credit. This is an expert level troll job.
Trey isn’t smart enough for that. The one time he tried doing something like that people caught on after 5 posts.

But if I’m wrong, agreed.

Out of 12 games played elder had the lead in the 4 q. 11 of them. They played most of the year without their 3 of their best players.. one of which is consider one of the best players at his position in the country (Arnold). Most team that happens to .. season is done. Keep in mind we beat west if we don’t fumble a snap on our 10.. who supposedly had a great def. The next 3 yrs at elder football is going to be exciting! Online will be better.. good qb.. fast.. and well coached.

It was a very solid year all things considered... starting a soph. QB, all the injuries. The coaches and players did an amazing job.

I agree the future looks good for Elder football, but at the same time Elder football COULD be a consistent player in the state and not once every 10-15 years. Elder will always battle in the GCL, will always be a tough out in the playoffs, but what I think is Elder is very close to being a perennial powerhouse. They have the resources and coaching. I don't know if Elder is just written off by non westsiders because it's in Price Hill or if it is just that unfamiliar territory for the rest of the city. The facts are Moeller and X are pulling kids in from the entire city/region and Elder is still primarily stuck in the '90s pulling majority of kids from traditional feeder schools. I like seeing Elder on billboards across the city and maybe that will help.

Elder has made it a point to draw more east side students. The caveat being, their sons of alumni. I saw maybe a dozen Elder Open House signs in my neighborhood, which is either St Mary’s or St Cecilia. In fact, the pastor of St Cecilia is an Elder grad. However, getting eastside kids with no ties to Elder is going to be a big challenge. I say this every yr, but it’s bogus that NKY kids can’t play sports in OH. It’s not even just about football, you can’t swim, wrestle, play tennis, etc. That’s a massive roadblock even if you’re not a potential college athlete.

And Elder is not far off from being more competitive consistently. Like I said many times, the feeders are a nice foundation that usually sets the floor at 5 wins. The problem is the ceiling is usually capped at 7-8 wins bc they don’t have that 1 big time playmaker.

The big elephant in the room is Peyton Ramsey. Is he going to put in for the Sycamore job? If he does and gets it, it would be really difficult for him to leave if he is the heir apparent to take over Elder as some have mentioned. You have solid students, one of the best paying school districts in the area, STRS pension, predictable football schedule, and a community that has realistic expectations of their football team and overall sports program.

If I'm Sycamore, that would be a no-brainer a hire as he could be there for decades as your coach.

He’s awesome but he’s 27 years old. Not many 27 year old head coaches in the gmc.

Not only that, but everyone knows that Sycamore has zero football talent (probably a major reason for the retirement). They have great kids, but not many football players. Numbers have been going down for years.

Unlike the Lakotas or Mason, the district doesn’t have much room for growth in enrollment. Datillo’s success really shows just how talented he is as a coach.

My kids aren’t even old enough to play football lol so no, has nothing to do with me. I laugh at Omar plenty, but what else is there left to say? He’s been what he’s been for over a decade now

I’ve never singled out a player in a negative way. I wasn’t even good enough to play Freshman football, so I’m definitely not going to speak ill about the abilities of a kid playing varsity football. However, that doesn’t change the fact, they need at least one high level athlete at WR or RB, if they want to get over the hump. That’s just a fact. If that makes you butthurt, that’s a you problem.

I think I’m pretty fair in my assessment. There’s things Elder does well, but there’s still things they need to do better if they want to have a realistic shot at competing for a title. By and large, Elder has been a 6-7 win team for the last 15 years. With the schedule the play, that’s not nothing but they’re still not at the level to contend for a title more than once a decade.

Since 2014, Elder has had maybe 3 teams that would’ve been able to contend for a title most years (2015,2018,2029). In 2015 & 2018 they ran into total buzzsaws of Colerain teams that were loaded with double digit D1 recruits. Now, even West & Moeller don’t have the level of talent those Colerain teams had, but no amount of toughness or grit can overcome a talent gap like that. But one stud player (David Montgomery) could help close that gap significantly. That’s especially true if a smooth brain like Bolden is the opposing Head Coach.

You can keep banging your head against the wall or you can adjust and find a way to get over the hump. Me being honest instead of a homer, doesn’t mean I don’t respect the time & dedication put in by the players & coaches.
