-I think Mulvaney could be the front runner at RB with Uran getting some carries here and there.
-McKenna will be on OL and will start if healthy. Kafel Is a potential starter at tackle if he has a good off season. Willoughby and Bohan on JV looked like future starters at some point. Cassaro and Broxterman are back but I could see one or both rotating on the DL. Maybe use Broxterman as a 6th OL or full time blocking TE. Cassaro is really the only true 1 tech NG in the program so he could be an assest in run downs and goaline situations.
-Willig will also be in the mix with Stokes at TE

LT- McKenna/Scott
LG Scott/McKenna
C- Hignite
RG- Cassaro or Willoughby/Bohan
RT- Kafel or Broxterman

I hope they use less of a blocking TE next year.

That might suggest the Springboro series is ending after next season.

Young secondary will be tested, but I'm excited about the underclassmen.
The Secondary was a legitimate strength for the Freshman. Curry & Gray have a ton of potential. The 3rd CB/Nickel Blevins was also really good but he’s apparently an even better bball player.

All the new members jumping on here thinking their kids will be playing right away is actually funny as Elder rarely operates that way. Speaking about the defense any Senior or Junior will get first opportunity at playing time and Uran will probably go to safety on 1st, 2nd downs with Lammers also coming back and that opens up a spot at OLB which also will be initially filled by a Jr/Sr. Spots that are up for grabs are corners and those will be up for grabs after the Jr/Sr group gets their 1st chance. Caleb Curry would be the most obvious 1st option as far as hips/feet/hand fighting but with him wrestling he will definitely need to add some size in order to play effectively in GCL-S play. Brian Turner will also get an opportunity for playing time in the defensive backfield or OLB. As we all know especially

I mean you have 5 spots opening in the secondary next year (Sandhas, Roden, DiTullio, Shavers, Selle are all seniors). Not to mention the two ILB spots with Arnold and Guidugli graduating. While I agree Elder will most likely use some of the Jr/Sr spots next year, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect one of those spots being filled by a Soph, whether it's Curry, Gray or Blevins.

The spots by George and Maddox have already been filled by the two kids that played for them almost the entire season. The defense will be senior laden along with Pete and the cornerback positions in question that are being discussed. Turner will be healthy and get his opportunity and Lammers is coming back to play.

Lammers coming back would be a nice add.

Not Re at WR?

I feel very confident Curry will be one of the starting CBs next yr.

How does Elder get over the hump in football? The frustrating thing as an Elder fan is Elder is not far off. Close but can't get to the top of the mountain. Yes, Moeller has advantages, but Elder does too with its strong feeder base. It just needs to be supplemented a little.

1 Final 4 appearance in 15 years suggests additional help is needed, or is everyone just ok with being competitive but not a real threat in region 4.

What is wrong with thinking outside the box or trying something different? Elder has a great coaching staff, great resources, but it's not enough.

There’s your answer, more non feeder talent. Same thing I’ve been saying for over a decade. Put Corey Kiner on the ‘19 team, they’re State champs. David Montgomery & Teagray Scales (who wrestled for Elder Youth team) on the ‘15 team might not have gotten them over the hump vs Colerain, but it would’ve been closer. Spencer Ware on the ‘08 & ‘09 team, they win state. One or two star athletes, that can play multiple positions, makes an enormous difference.

There were also a few years they had the bad luck of running into Colerain teams that were absolute machines. Those Colerain teams were beyond loaded but in the state semifinals & title, pissed down their leg.

As for last night, X was nearly able to pull that off bc they controlled a lot of the clock running Vollmer and Herbstreit hit some big passes on 3rd & 4th down to extend drives. Elder couldn’t run the ball consistently vs Moe and was frequently backed into 3rd & long.

IDK if things will be better in ‘25, I hope so, but we’ll just have to wait and see. There does seem to be a concerted effort to draw more kids in (not just athletes) from non traditional feeders.

Out of 12 games played elder had the lead in the 4 q. 11 of them. They played most of the year without their 3 of their best players.. one of which is consider one of the best players at his position in the country (Arnold). Most team that happens to .. season is done. Keep in mind we beat west if we don’t fumble a snap on our 10.. who supposedly had a great def. The next 3 yrs at elder football is going to be exciting! Online will be better.. good qb.. fast.. and well coached.

Losing Arnold was massive. Going into next year, Elder still has big ? At WR & RB. They need a legit big play threat on Offense. They have a lot of good possession WRs and a group of RBs that should complement each other, but they don't have that one big time athlete that can bust open a long TD.

I think what’s is most frustrating about reading these comments on here is the lack of understanding.. questioning.. discounting the type of kid that goes to elder. For instance.. Joey D. He didn’t play last yr and was not going to play this yr. He lead gcl in int’s and i think had most pic 6’s in gcl history.
Uran will be like Arnold i assume and run the ball. Pete fortkamp will be a Monster! I’d move willege to inside lb.. i think he has a future there or stokes.. length.
Kids step up.. fight.. gritty. In our offense wr will step up. I am like you and wished we threw to te more.. but.. for this team to step up like they did this yr… my lord… what will they look like with experience!
Estep will get bigger but arm talent.. whew… exceptional. Moeller is only team that threw deep on us.. roden will know how to set the d again .. that coach was the difference for elder becoming dc! You should be more positive.. west loses many.. st x Moeller.. LaSalle.. all losing many! Kirch will rise up at least by jr yr to be a monster..
future is something to brag about
