It’s improving compared to what it has been. The head football coach also coaches wrestling, and he has been able to get the numbers up. Two (I believe junior wrestlers) qualified for states this year. I really like the enthusiasm of the coach. I think he’s someone who can make a difference if he doesn’t jump ship in multiple sports.

Hmmmm, Smoove want to know who "Ship" is......the history of the coaches and teachers at Coventry having relations within the building and videoing theyselves, Smoove wanna know who is the techer or coach named Ship that this coach may jump.....

My boy played under Taylor at Ellet. He really liked him, wished he had been the head coach over Noftz.
Larry always seemed genuine when I talked to him and took alot of interest in how the kids were doing off the court as well.
Like any coach, he needs talent to win but the Coventry kids will benefit from playing for him.

This is good they gotted a coach in place already, too! Too often Coventry drags they foots in getting someon in the position. Well, I’ve talked to some people that are involved in the youth football program, and it’s a mess right now to say the least. They are struggling to get boys out to play football. They struggled last year but enough kids did end up signing up to give them decent depth overall. This year while there’s still time to sigh up they have less than ten kids signed up for the varsity youth (5-6th grade) team. I hope this can get fixed because it’s only going to be more of a detriment the older this age group gets.

I’ve been told that the head coach is planning on doing some stuff, including a movie night on the football field sometime this summer. Hopefully guys are in the weight room. Idk how many kids they’ve lost but I know they still have guys returning. I would guess that most of the guys who will start have 1-2 years of starting experience under their belt. The QB is a big question mark though. The planned QB left for Norton.

I think they would. We played at Kenmore stadium in 2017 and 2019 and we had more fans than Kenmore Garfield. That’s only a short drive from Coventry but still I think we would travel well. I don’t think it would be a great game though the football program has fallen on hard times, but ten years ago I think it would have been a good game.

Buchtel would only risk injuries by playifyin' Coventry. Coventry supposed QB leavin' for Norton? Would that be the youngun' that wore #4? That is intemeresting to Smoove. Must not be for football, tho,'cuz if so, he may not eher get on the field. Norton is good and they players play hard, not like Coventry have beent recently. Maybe it for hoops, Smoove heardified he much better hooper than gridder. That if the dude Smoove thinkifyin' it might be.

Yes, it was the kid who wore #4. He’ll be a junior this year. They also had a good basketball player who was a 3 year starter leave for Akron Garfield. The QB situation will be interesting though the JV QB for last year I think will be a junior this year, but I don’t know what direction they will go

It could be. The basketball coach was apart of Coventry sports for a long time. I heard rumors about why he was dismissed but I have no idea if they’re true or not

Not sure as of right now. The numbers have been around the early to mid 40s the past few years, but if it’s less this year with going 2-18 the last two years I wouldn’t be shocked. Coventry really does not do a good job at accurately updating their rosters either on Maxpreps, the athletics site, or on Hudl. It’s only June but based on previous years it won’t be better this year. But I have heard that the football coach is planning on making a website for the football team. He made one for the wrestling program.
One of the things that really need to improve this year is line play. Assuming they are still playing they have a junior and a senior who I think if the line blocks for them they can do some damage. Unfortunately line play was subpar and they struggled to block even against Springfield last year. The football team is at a point where 3-7 seems unrealistic, but I would like to be proven wrong. If the head coach doesn’t jump ship or retire since he’s up there in age I think he can do great things.
