What is the roster rules for the State Tournament? Same as Regionals? Heard that there was a roster size reduction, so curious how a change may impact some of the larger teams like Mason. I believe Regional was 22 Rostered (dressed), but could have 6 non-rosters (not dressed) in the dugout.

As I've done for the last
Wow that Mason win really opened it up.
I didn't realize until I read the tournament previews that Mason threw a no-hitter against Moeller in the regional finals.

I’ll never for the life of me understand how Central OH got just one regional bid in Division II. It’s really impacted the tourney IMO.

Tournament locations have been the subject of heated debate since the inception of state tournaments.
Has nothing to do with location, it has to do with the number of bids. SE OH got two regional bids with way, way less teams. Meanwhile Central OH got the shaft with one bid. It’s never been like that. It absolutely affected what the final four looked like.

RollingTrain, it wasn't "way" less teams. When they did divisions & allocations for 2024 baseball, there was a "tie" in the number of teams b/n central and southeast. A coin toss was done, and the southeast got the "extra" bid.

Badin 5 Padua 0 Badin still has not allowed a run in the post season
Badin catcher/3-hitter Anderson left the game after the bottom 3rd after taking a pitch off the wrist, and never returned. Kudos to Badin's depth, though, as the top of the 4th a pinch hitter for Anderson got a hit and scored the game's first run, and then the backup catcher threw out a crucial runner the next inning.

Broken thumb. And yes, there is a logjam at catcher with this team. Awful for Kyle, but the team is just fine.

The regulation applies from the Sectionals through the State Tourney.

From the '24 Baseball Tournament Regulations.......

2. ELIGIBILITY OF STUDENTS, COACHES AND BENCH PERSONNEL

All participants must be eligible under the Bylaws and Sports Regulations of the OHSAA. Onl y one school team sponsored by amember school is eligible to participate.

Twenty-two (22) players may be in uniform for each tournament game. The twenty-two (22) players will be the only players permitted in the dugout or on the field for warm-up or any part of the contest. The twenty-two (22) may be changed from game to game throughout the tournament; however, any player in uniform must meet all eligibility requirements established byOHSAA Bylaws. Only the 22 permitted in uniform are permitted to warm-up on the field during pre-game.

A student who uses anabolic steroids or other performance-enhancing drugs is ineligible for interscholastic competition until such time as medical evidence can be presented that the student’s system is free of anabolic steroids.

Only Board of Education approved coaches with valid Pupil Activity Permits issued by the Ohio Department of Education are permitted to be in the bench area or locker room prior to, during, and after any tournament contest.

All Board approved coaches in the dugout must be in uniform as required by NFHS Rules.

The only other personnel permitted in the dugout during the contest are a scorekeeper, Athletic Trainer, and Team Manager. These individuals must be identified on the official OHSAA travel party list. Only 28 individuals are permitted in the dugout, including players.

Mason 1
Perrysburg 0

Final

"Jake Hanley pitches a one-hit shutout to go with his go-ahead RBI in the 7th and lead the Comets to the state final. They will face Twinsburg on Sunday."

What a nail-biter. Outstanding performance by the Perrysburg pitcher Matt Hubbard as well.

This was an amazing nightcap to day 1. Hanley was locked in, and needed to be because Hubbard was stifling Mason all night.

I couldn't believe they decided to roll the dice and pitch to Jake in that situation. It immediately felt like the moment of the game and it didn't disappoint.

As a parent of a Badin player, it was so cool to see the entire team (minus 3) show up to support SWO. They were electric all game!

After Stevens crushed the ball down 3B line, I think they opted to pitch to Hanley to keep Stevens from his next at bat. Stevens was dialed in. But so was Hanley. His hit to deep right had their OF twirling like a ballerina. Clutch hit and a fantastic performance by Hanley last night.

Mason's student section showed up in fashion chanting "Should have walked him" after that hit. :ROFLMAO:

You mean the Badin Varsity "student section" lol.

And yes, the LF made a tremendous play on Stevens the last AB, so maybe they were worried about him having 2 on. With over 700 wins under his belt, the head coach gets a pass on this one.
