NOT GOOD!!

Been a tough year and but the last 2 weeks have provided some evidence that the program is gaining some traction .
Without a deep senior class, there have been quite a few sophomores who were asked to contribute before they were ready. The development of those younger players has become evident over the last 2 weeks.

The experienced gained during the year has allowed some of the underclassmen to compete and hold their own. There is reason to be excited about what Ignatius has coming back on both sides of the ball. Over the last 2 weeks, the game has really slowed down for sophomores at the QB position,. OL, WR, LB and defensive backfield. The junior class has a really talented RB and WR as well as some talent along the OL, LB and and defensive backfield. JMO, but I was surprised the underclassmen at the TE position did not have an impact this year. Both have the physical attributes and performed well at the lower levels.

It is difficult to find some wins, especially against the ridiculous schedule Ignatius played, with so many underclassmen. There is a significant difference in physical and mental maturity between 16 yr old and 18 yr old. I think next years team will be Step 1 in regaining some momentum on the football field.

As far as coaching, Franzinger needs to be better. That "it" factor that was so important to Kyle being successful, is missing. It starts with the Head Coach, then filters down to the rest of the coaching staff, then the senior class and then spreads through out the program. That "it" was less prevalent during the last couple years of Kyle's tenure and the trend has continued under Franzinger. I do believe not having a very deep senior classes the last 2 seasons has hindered programs' ability to develop the "it".

send a pm to the new poster footballdad, his son is not getting enough play time and he can't comp[rend english!
I knew Chuck and Nick since 1967, great men, yes they would not tolerate #27.
You do not even know me; if you did, you wouldn't have made that dumb comment. Enjoy your life; I'm done with you.

Ignatius wants and deserves zero sympathy. We are talking about a wealthy school with advantages over almost every school in the state.

It’s now a matter of choices coming to roost:
Kids choosing other schools to play football
Choices in leadership
Choices with scheduling.

The only direction is up but that is going to take better choices and probably years.

And I remember being shocked at a 5-5 or even 4-6 season. At least then the following seasons were better. 1-9.
Amen. I can't stand all this 'sympathy" from non-SI folks. Kick rocks.

Sounds like no effort is put into the program. Parents are running the show and the administration is weak.

You pay $18-19k for an education (which is ridiculous) and put your kid in with 1400 other kids (which is also ridiculous) you should expect leadership to be there and a mediocre to decent sports program.

You reap what you sow.

The sports program is still very good; the football program is not.

Right. Pretty much everything but football. If given the choice I'd rather have the sports programs where they are today vs 20 years ago. I'll take all programs being up and football down any day of the week. Of course it would be nice to have a decent football team to be proud of again.

I heard no more Hoban for next year. I can only hope no more Canada. I would imagine they had a home and home agreement with Dublin Coffman.

I think Canada's a given to be game 10. If they didn't drop them when there were no Harbins at stake, they won't drop them when there are. Perhaps the game with John Marshall, which was supposed to happen this yr. has been postponed a year. Rather they play Marshall than Walsh, as they had to this yr.

I don't see Benedictine or Dublin Coffman with a corresponding open week currently.

Ok, so, we decided to replace the only win with a tougher away game? That's great. And start a year with 3 away games

I thought I remembered reading on the Benedictine thread that these two were playing next year.

Benedictine is on the schedule next year. Not that it matters, but Ignatius may only have 2-3 home games next year- of course on Friday nights.

Benedictine must be loaded at the lower levels if they are willing to play Ignatius even if Ignatius is in a rebuild year.
It was not that long ago, enrollment was dropping at Benedictine and there were questions if the school would remain open . Benedictine have strong enrollment numbers is good for the City of Cleveland.

Plenty of history between Ignatius & Benedictine. .

If they could just get rid of the headset brigade on the sidelines, and get back to basic CYO style football, they could be a headache for any other team in the region.
Cleveland CYO football is pretty much dead. That is one of the fundamental issues facing Ignatius these days. They haven't adapted as well as the other catholic schools have to the major and fairly swift decline of CYO. This isn't 1995 anymore.
