2024 Paris Olympic

I have an issue with the minimum reaction time and false starts. If you start after the gun, it should be good. It should not be a disqualification. Please see Roger Banister, Eliud Kipchoge, Jim Hines etc...

There are a lot of people who don't like this WA rule. One of the most egregious problems is that the threshold is a rather arbitrary one, and it seems the technology isn't always calibrated correctly, which makes the arbitrary threshold even more of a problem.

It used to be 0.12 seconds (for us older folks), and one false start. I heard Ato Boldon say the other day that empirical evidence is showing that the now in place no false-start rule is actually causing longer delays than having the old one false-start rule. Interesting.

Paris 2024 Olympics Ohio Track & Field athletes highlights so far….

Former Cincinnati Bearcat and Pickerington North High School athlete Annette Nneka Echikunwoke will be in the finals of the Hammer Throw Tuesday.

With Mondo's WR & win yesterday, the chatter about him being the "GOAT" on T&F News forums is amusing, to say the least. While Mondo is on another planet right now ahead of the competition and has 2 Olympic & 2 World Championship golds, plus a WC silver ('19) & 2 European titles, Bubka had 6 consecutive WC golds & the '88 OG gold, and did more to raise the vault than Mondo has done...so far. Cornelius "Dutch" Warmerdam from 1940-1943 raised the bar over 8 inches, a huge % leap, and held the world record for over 17 years, too. Unfortunately, for Warmerdam, both the '40 & '44 Games were cancelled due to the war.

On top of that, Mondo is only #2 for Olympic PV hardware. Everyone seems to not KNOW their athletics history. The recently deceased Bob Richards, the "Vaulting Vicar", not only won both the '52 & '56 OG golds, but ALSO had a bronze from the '48 OG! Until Mondo racks up a couple more WCs & the '28 OG, he's not quite to GOAT status yet.

As an aside, I watched Mondo's dad vault at the '88 OTs in Indianapolis, and my take away was that he was the shortest, fastest guy on the runway with a WICKED FAST rock-back. Mondo's dad, Greg, is only 5' 5", where as Mondo is about 5' 11".

Annette Echikunwoke just dropped a bomb in the hammer throw!!!! Going into the final three throws throwing last!

Cincinnati Bearcat and Pickerington North High School athlete Annette Nneka Echikunwoke threw 247.64’ to take home the Hammer Throw silver.

Former Pickerington Central High School athlete McKenzie Long finished 7th in the 200 meter in 22.42

Former Ashland University and Bluffton native Trevor Bassitt ran 48.64 in the Repechage 400 hurdles to make the semi finals Wednesday.

I watched all of it. Very happy for Susan Seaton's prodigy in Annette Echikunwoke (I saw her talking to Susan in the stands) for winning the silver medal.

I was shocked that Hocker won, not because he couldn't, but because Kerr let him through on the inside instead of continuining to block him as he had at the top of the finish straightaway. Ingebritsen has no 5th gear to go to, and the rest of the world has caught up to being able to run 3:27 as they just did. Jakob is a grinder, not a sprinter. He's got to go 3:24 to take the kickers out of the race.

Jakob Ingebrigtsen let Cole through on the inside towards the end because he pushed out to blocker Kerr. Cole was patient as heck there.

Never thought I would see an American man (Rooks) finish in the top 3 of the Olympic steeplechase. What a gutsy performance by Wilson in the 400. Some excellent racing (running).

Edit: Quincy Hall not Wilson.

Rooks finish in the steeplechase was a shock to everyone. Even got my elderly father out of his chair to cheer him on! Rooks went from also-ran to PLAYER with his 9-second PB.
