2024 Massillon Tigers

I was shocked to learn at midnight on Friday that Massilon lost. I questioned my son on the score. I asked "Are you sure?" Indeed, it was true.
Yet, these losses happen. I remember Eds losing to Warren Harding in a playoff game at Cleveland Browns Stadium 7-3 in 2006. We had no business losing to them, but we did. Harding flat out outplayed us in a defensive struggle and we lost.
I'm an Eds fan that really respects Massillon and wants them to do well. Massillon is good for Ohio High School football. They're a flagship program. When Massillon is good, it's good for Ohio. I hate that we (Eds) have lost to Massillon the past 3 years, but I'm proud that our kids show up and play out against the Tigers. I would encourage Massillon fans and players to keep their heads up. Eds recovered from that Harding loss and started a run in 2010 that's been very rewarding. Massillon can do the same. Good luck Tigers.

Agreed. We just all understand that we need to work on some things. Nate has to continue to evolve as a coach and so do the rest of them. And listen, as much as we say things these guys know they have to get better as coaches. That's everybody's job each year. And we're hard on them because we care. Players and coaches. Non of them are perfect. But we have been in a really good place pretty much since he's been here. And I love what is wife does for these kids too. People that don't know, really don't know. I disagreed and didn't like some things that went on this year but for the most part we're in good shape. This is the first time coming off of a state championship. There's so many things that could've been going on as to why we didn't do this or that better. And it got frustrating at times because we expected better. That's not a criticism. That's just how far we have come as a program. That's all we ever wanted, and of course to win a state championship and we did. But why be satisfied. As hard as it is to do, especially a public school in the top 2 divisions, why not keep pushing and reach higher and higher. The monkey is off our back now. Defending the state championship is over now. Let's reset. I know we are going to have new staff next year. We have some guys calling it a career. Congrats to coach Hack I know he's done for sure and I'm getting wind of a couple others. We will be fine. Come January, guys better start trying to earn their spots especially upfront, only Garner returns. I have a few guys I got my eyes on so we will see how it goes. One thing I can promise is 25 will be ready to go next year. We get him healed up and it's all out from now until next year. As always Go Tigers!
I love coming down to Massillon to watch games. Even though I am a Hoban grad and fan I have a ton of respect for the Massillon fans and team. Does anyone know Massillon schedule for 2025 ? I am already starting to plan for 2025.

Friends, I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around just excactly how Walnuts (under sized) D line confused our battle tested offensive line......I'm just flabbergasted at how this was allowed to turn the game, especially when we were clearly the better team. The kids were perplexed by apparently a genius tactic by BW jerking or movement plan. Its allmost as if They freaking hypnotized us.
didnt any coach on staff have an answer.i feel for the kids. We usually put them in the best position to win , this time they were left without direction which led to 29 false starts. Has anyone ever seen any thing like this happen at any level besides peewee.????.
Moore is great but he's to proud to take the responsibility that is most assuredly his alone. From what I can tell, the Staff made no attempted adjust to this fix this.
It's worse the then Medina freaking Highland and Perrysburg games because they just out muscled us. As did 99 Perry. Last Friday has to go down in history as the most peculiar game we should have won handily.
I will give Big Walnut credit for wining one of the best in their schools history. They played hard to the end and Massillon played like they thought the game was a dub before it started. The green lose was tuff be cause of questionable calls, but they had talented kids. The walnut lose will go down in my minds eye as a total collapse by the defending state champions. Once a Tiger. Allways a Tiger, but DAMN. This is a difficult one for us fans. To the players You played your arses off all year but a fat satisfied leader gets complacent. Please, please, turn this discipline problem around. The powers that be in our program have more resources than most any in the country at the hs level. Unacceptable behavior are just that UNACCEPTABE....

And you say I’m a dummy? lol life will go on. Try to enjoy the holidays with the family.

To be accurate, it was 15 false starts. 26 total. And no I have never seen anything like it, nobody has. If that is not a national record then certainly a state record. The state title game (and whole season) was the best thing I ever saw. Moore was national COY, and deservedly so. Friday was the worst thing I ever saw (and whole season marred by penalties) and enough to cause any other coach to be in the hot seat. Quite the dichotomy in consecutive years. All that is left now now is to learn from it and prepare for next year.

I disagree. I think the better approach would be to debate it like children and call each other names for hours on end and ruin multiple threads.

Don't take it the dummy thing personal boss. Us Massillon fans pretty much live and die with our team. We're the definition of fanatical. That we'll may be what separates us and gives us the persona of crazy fans. We truely live eat, sleep, and wake with Tiger football. You may think that's sad but we thrive on it and our lives would be bored and void with out this amazing time of the year. We all have lives but this accentuates it for us. Oh and have a great holidays to you too ,seriously.

I’m curious did Perry get baited into false starts too?

sometimes football games do come down to being mentally sharp. Massillon hasnt been the smartest team all yr with these self inflicted penalties and they got burned finally bc Big Nut was good enough and Massillon not good enough to overcome the between the ears mistakes . Massillon beats them 99 times out of 100 ---friday night was the 1 out of 100 night . Now the mighty Cin Anderson will show the rest of D2 how to finish a season as Champs ...Gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Raptors!!!

One of my all-time favorite wins! I have it on VHS, but can't find it for the life of me!

For your consideration

Team A has 170 yards of total offence
Team B has 175 yards in penalties
Who wins the game 90% of the time?

And does that percentage change if team B has more than twice the yardage of team A?

What an absolute cluster ^$#@&.
Did anybody go to the boosters club meeting, if so What was explained about this fail. Most importantly, did anyone take responsibility?

It’s high school football
Not the fate of the world
No need for heads to roll
There’s always next season

It's not the fate of the world, but it is extremely important to us die hards and the players. Nobody wants heads to roll. No how no way!
It would be nice if some one manned up and took responsibility for not knowing how to handle the debacle. Other wise the blame may fall on unsuspecting ill prepared kids. These boys deserve better. That's all I want, somebody to say hey, I or we as coaches did not handle that situation as well as we SHOULD have. And maybe, this is what we should have done. We allways talk about accountability. Let's walk the talk.

I heard the booster club meeting got cancelled, but he'll be speaking at the Touchdown Club.

I get what you are saying though. Moore's job is safe, there is no issue with our support, and we (program) are in a good place. However, I agree it would be wholly appropriate to acknowledge what happened Friday, and this season in general penalty wise, and how we are addressing or hope to address next year. No different than any other booster meeting I have been to where areas of needed improvement were openly discussed. That's kinda the purpose, no? It is not like the pitchforks are out.

I find it EXTREMELY hard to believe that these lineman were not prepared and did not practice the defensive line shift all week. I mean come on we knew about it on yappi for over a week when we knew BW could be a possible opponent.

Were they shouting cadences as well?

They could of been doing something else. I still have a hard time wrapping my head around 15 or 19 whatever it was offsides penalties. I mean come on a 8 month old puppy can piss on the floor and after you rub its nose in it and smack him with newspaper after about 10 times he starts to learn. If it's just the snap count and they couldn't get it together I'm willing to bet that team GPA they boast is totally false.

they have a shot.. watching film, theyre fun to watch.. going for it all the time on 4th down is one of those things could be what is needed to get them over the hump or it could backfire as well.. good luck to your team

Classroom gpa and football IQ are 2 different things to me. And for everyone asking the booster club meeting was indeed cancelled. He spoke today and I won't say much about it. All I know is going forward to continue to grow the program as much as we can, things have to change. You either evolve and get better or stay the same and get left behind. This off season will be interesting as far as coaching changes and player development. Oh yea and we will see what free agency brings this year.

I agree but I'm not even sure knowing not to jump offsides is even football IQ kind of common sense. It comes down to once you do it and get penalized you just don't keep doing it over and over and over. Like more or less how good is your memory and how big is your brain.
