2024-2025 Ohio State Basketball

Njegovan just showed more post moves in 3 minutes than Sean Stewart and Aaron Bradshaw have in 4 games. This guy is 7’1 and doesn’t play???? Throwing it to him every play and letting him dictate the half court offense would go a long way.

Diebler giving me some serious Thad Matta vibes with the lack of understanding of playing some quality bench players.

This one was tight early as both teams could not buy a bucket.
Ohio State (3-1) was led by Devin Royal (Pickerington, OH) with 20 points, 12 rebounds, and a steal. Meechie Hohnson Jr. (Cleveland, Ohio) had 13 points, 2 assists, and a steal. Coming off of the bench to score 7 points very late in the game was 7-1, 250-pound Ivan Njegovan (Otocac, Croatia). The Buckeyes hit 51.9% for the game.

For Evansville (1-4) they hit 19% from the field. Leading the way in defeat was Gabriel Pozzato (Rome, Italy) with 8 points and 3 boards.

Hard to believe considering how bad OSU shot in the 1st half. Meechie played much better in the 2nd half and for OSU to do anything this season Meechie has to keep playing, he is a proven capable guard.

Still, Meechie with 3 turnovers, 2 assists last night, against an inferior opponent. That gets him to 15 turnovers, 7 assists in 4 games. Beyond unacceptable ratio. He just cannot be trusted with the ball.

Mobley (1 TO, 5 ASST) should be in the lineup with Thornton (3 TO, 19 ASST). Meechie can be a spot-up shooter off the bench.

They are forced to play Meechie because he's the only one with a quick first step that can explode to the basket. Thornton and Mobley aren't quick enough to beat good teams off the dribble in the half court. He just needs to get the fundamentals down

He 'explodes to the basket' and then one of these happens:
- fumbles the ball off of his own foot
- passes to a big man but hits him in the foot with the pass
- hangs in the air and gets caught there with nothing to do with the ball
- makes a layup

I don't like our odds here. He is the same player he was 3 years ago at OSU. He isn't growing and changing in the next month or two. He is a turnover machine, which sounds great if this was a coffee shop, but it isn't. Sit him down.

MJ was 2nd team ALL SEC last season. 2nd half last night he played much better than the 1st half. For this team to reach its full potential Meechie needs to play like he is capable of. It is only the 4th game of the season posters already want to "bench" players, Meechie has proven to be a capable guard he will only get out of his "funk" by playing. Last season Meechie avg. 14 pts. per game, 3 asst. per game and 1.6 turnovers per game. For OSU he does not need to be the main ball handler when Thornton is in the game, Meechie is a proven commodity just off to a bad start it happens.

You are correct but he has things that you just can’t teach either with that first step. Athletically outside of him OSU doesn’t have much at guard. Colin White really needs to play for at least some extra size and length even if be can’t slash and score

Texas A&M currently down 13 in the first half to a 1-3 Southern team at home. Tried telling everyone but that team is not good and may turn out to be a bad loss for Ohio State.

I hope he does get out of his funk. I never saw him at SC but clearly 1.6 TO per game would be great. 15 turnovers in 4 games is not acceptable. That is how he played his earlier stint at OSU. Always in a big hurry and losing the ball...

Was at the game tonight and Ohio State minus Stewart and Bradshaw are an absolute tiny team. You can rely on 3s and inside scoring with a 6’6 Devin Royal against this team but NOT against good teams.

They are going to get absolutely demolished inside unless they start Austin Parks and play Njegovan consistent minutes. They just cannot survive like this for the year.

Continue to use these rotations and they WILL NOT make the NCAA tournament.

This was a 20-17 game early but then the Buckeyes (4-1) short three players pulled away for the easy win over Campbell (3-3). Leading the Buckeyes with 23 points was John Mobley Jr. (Reynoldsburg) coming off the bench again. Devin Royal (Pickerington) chipped in with 17 points and 8 boards. Colin White (Ottawa) had just 6 points off the bench four of those points came on two monster dunks. Leading Campbell was Bragi Gudmundsson (Grindavik, Iceland) with 12 points.

Agreed - too small for the Big Ten play. Stewart will be back soon. Bradshaw situation is concerning. Hopefully a small matter that can be resolved soon.

White is a good athlete; he will have good career at OSU. Meechie is going to be ok, good all-around bball player. OSU will struggle when not shooting well from outside but fun to watch - uptempo team big contrast to the last 4 years.

Stewart is only 6’8 , not nearly big or long enough to be the only inside player getting minutes. Parks and Njegovan HAVE TO PLAY

White needs to play a lot more than he does. He has the size at guard nobody else has

And speaking of Mr. Bradshaw

Oh boy. Not good news.

I have to take it with a grain of salt given the source. Whoever named their website "KY insider" was not thinking very clearly. Unless they were trying to sell body lube instead of sports info.
