2023 TRC football

NE is a very sound program. Riverside might struggle with them. I’d lean towards NE winning a close game.

anyone up for some picks?
Valley View @ Milton-Valley View 42-13 (this one kills me).
Lehman @ Ben Logan- Lehman 41-8
Miami East @ Carlisle- Carlisle 42-6
Ansonia @ Covington- Ansonia 49-0
Bethel @ Kenton Ridge- Kenton Ridge 35-13
Northridge @ Oakwood- Oakwood 25-12
Riverside @ Northeastern- NE 28-21
SCC @ Troy Christian- SCC 14-9
Valley View @ Milton-Valley View 49-21
Lehman vs Southeastern- Lehman 28-21
Miami East @ Carlisle- Carlisle 35-14
Ansonia @ Covington- Ansonia 56-7
Bethel @ Kenton Ridge- Kenton Ridge 28-7
Northridge @ Oakwood- Oakwood 35-13
Riverside @ Northeastern- Riverside 28-14
SCC @ Troy Christian- SCC 28-7

MaxPreps is wrong, TRC says Lehman has Southeastern.
Looking at the Bethel score it looks like Northeastern had a huge Q2 with 2 Defensive TD's and a punt return. Think Bethel will have a good year, but Kenton Ridge is a tough game to bounce back on. With that being said, I think Riverside can get a bounce back win against them. SCC vs TC will come down to whichever team gets some lucky breaks.

Here's my prediction:

Week 2:
Valley View @ Milton
Lehman @ Southeastern (Ben Logan is Week 3)
Miami East @ Carlisle
Ansonia
@ Covington
Bethel @ Kenton Ridge
Northridge
@ Oakwood
Riverside @ Northeastern
SCC
@ Troy Christian

Bethel @ Kenton Ridge- Kenton Ridge 28-7
Northridge @ Oakwood- Oakwood 35-13

IMO, TC may have the upper hand on SCC. SCC has 15 kids on roster with 4 Sr, 2 Jr, 6 Soph and 3 Frosh. This may be a game of attrition but TC should take this game handily.

NE and Riverside should be a good one. I give the edge to the Pirates but the Jets...well, they may surprise you.

I guess I looked at Joe Eitel wrong. Age…
Lehman over SE 49-0
SE has become a formidable opponent- i expect this one to be a good game and a close score vs Lehman

i think NE wins comfortably over Riverside, maybe 2 scores?

i also like Troy Christian over SCC. i think they dressed 13 kids last week? that’s a recipe for disaster

Kenton Ridge vs Bethel.. not sure what to think as both got it handed to them by a couple of OHC buzzsaws last week.. i’ll take Kenton Ridge but this could be a great game.

Valley View puts it to Milton- VV will win D5R20

Ansonia names the score vs Covington

Carlisle over Miami East in a close one. sounded like the Vikings have some athletes

Oakwood over Northridge- this one could go either way and it sounds like Northridge was competitive against a good Greeneview team

Agreeing with you here

SE vs Lehman may be a better game than people think. I dont think the 76-6 waxing against Perry is a good measure for Lehman but this week should be. If SE can limit turnovers, they have a shot at this game. This should be a good one.

NE, bringing all the directional compass teams from the OHC, lol. I like NE, they seem to be coming into their own with the offense plus having a punt return TD and a fumble TD last week looks that have all phases of the game. Then again, I LOVE me some Riverside and the Pirates can put it on you. They play hard and are well coached. This should be the game of the week.

Sorry Bless Em All, VV puts the puppies in the pound this week.

2-6? Hopefully the conference does better, but really looks like a week of good matchups.

2-6 may not be off, toss up with a couple of games.

4-4 and best. Lehman probably takes it and it's a toss up with NR and Oakweird but I am giving the edge to the Jacks.. NE and Riverside is what I am interested in, should be a good one...I think, lol.

yes. a lot of toss-ups, i actually predicted 3-5 with Lehman winning over SE. again, a lot of toss-ups, that i decided not to give the edge to the TRC in
Agree. I could see anywhere from 2-6 to 5-3. My gut says 3-5 but it is non specific on the three outside of TC. My most likely picks to get the other two wins would be Lehman and Riverside. Northridge over Oakwood seems like a stretch to me, but could happen as well.

Not picking Bethel to win, but that is another possible win. So in likely chance of winning
1- TC 85%
2-Lehman 60%
3-Riverside 55%
4- Northridege 40%
5-Bethel 35%

i just don’t think Riverside will hang with Northeastern, even at home. Northeastern is probably a better team than Ansonia.

Milton is not the dog they were the last 4-5 years. They will be lucky to make the playoffs this year. Pearce is a great coach but he doesn’t have a lot to work with. I’d say 5-5 or 6-4 is a success this year. Milton just can’t get consistent classes to step up. 1 about every 7-10 years. No next man up at MU. The district needs growth and new blood. No more Brumbaugh’s, Brown’s, Wilson’s, or Evans kids in the pipline. I think, judging on last weekend’s performance, Lehman, Miami East, Riverside and maybe Northridge beat Milton this year. 4-6 in the TRC is atrocious. This league is salivating to beat Milton.
Southeastern won’t have the weapons to hang with Lehman. Kenton Ridge is deeper and bigger than Bethel. Riverside will run into a brick wall vs Northeastern. Northridge will get smashed by Oakwood. The SWBL, top to bottom is better than the TRC. Covington and Miami East were supposed to be big challenges for MU. Maybe East gets that win this year. Oh, is this the year that Northridge breaks through and stops Milton dominance? It was 1974 the last time Northridge beat Milton.

I am not convinced yet that Milton will go 4-6. With the new playoff format, even if they did only get 4 wins, if Trail can go 5-5 that's a bunch of computer points.

Milton gets almost certain wins over TC and Covington and Bethel. So pick off one more vs East, Northridge or Lehman and they go 5-5 which is my guess. Yes, that is a down year for a storied program. And they haven't lost anything yet! A clean sweep of the conference though highly improbable, would not entirely surprise me.

I agree they aren't the team they were last year but I can't see them finishing worse than 6-4. They will be more physical than most teams they play and that will be enough to win those close games. Pearce may not have the dogs this year but his teams always play hard and are sound.

These next 2 weeks are important for the dogs in that they must stay healthy. They are already very young and inexperienced so they cannot afford to lose anyone at all so stay healthy

Second quarter scores:

Riverside 17
Northeastern 10. Northeastern led 10-0 at one point in game

Valley View 21
Milton 7

I have Carlisle 6, Miami East 0 first quarter. Was the start time moved back from 7:00 or is the score reporting just that far behind? No way a 7:00 game has not reached halftime by 8:20 unless it's raining?

Riverside pulled out my 55% chance of a win with a dominating 23-22 victory. NE was down 23-16 and scored 6 in 4th quarter. Anyone know if they missed the kick or went for two?

NE couldn’t run the ball at all, pulled some long passes out. But couldn’t do much on offense besides that.

Honestly a really sloppy game on a sloppy night (air felt like you were swimming) looked like Riverside was trying to lose with all the mistakes, but pulled it out.

i’ll eat my crow. congrats to the pirates! this was a shocker.

Congrats to Riverside, the 2023 TRC champs. No one in this conference will challenge them. Milton is a complete rebuild and it looks like they will be lucky to beat Covington.
60-7? 😳. Meanwhile, we count down the days until Northridge’s first win over MU since 74. I think this Milton team is likely the worst since 2000-01. Giving up 60 pts to anyone is a huge embarrassment. There needs to be a gut check in West Milton.
The TRC is Lehman and Riverside. IMHO.

I always worry about the ridge!
