E had a chance for a big 6th inning, but grounded into a dbl play with the bases loaded to end the inning. Wood threw a solid 4+Innings, think he’s going to be their 2nd starter.

They are extremely good, multiple D1 players in their lineup.
They have studs up and down the line-up and in the pitching rotation. I was looking at their stats and they've hit 10 home runs as a team - you rarely see that at the high school level anymore.

See-saw game between Elder and Highlands at GABP. Elder rallies to tie it late at 2-2. Panthers jump ahead 5-2 in the 7th but blow the lead. Rally in extra innings to win 8-5. Good for those boys to have that memory on that field.

Lebanon is going to be very tough. They have two signed D1 pitchers.

Mason almost lot to 25 seed Western Brown last night. The score was 1-0..

Moeller only beat Colerain 3-1 and it was 2-1 most of the game. Key caveat, Moeller threw their #3.

Thanks for the updates. Very disappointing and underwhelming season for last yrs state runner up.

They didn't hit all season and it came back to bite them. Better luck next yr.

This and that about yesterday’s game.
Lebanon's 5th:
Franz pop fly out to first.
Cleaver singled to left.
Hodges sac bunt 5-3, Cleaver to second.
Koch singled, Cleaver to third.
With Cain batting, Lebanon sent Koch, shortstop Ward went to cover second and Cain grounded to left right where Ward vacated. Cleaver scored, Koch to third.
With Cecil batting, Sandhas caught Cain off first. Koch broke for the plate, second baseman Hilton’s throw home was in plenty of time. Instead of sliding Koch leapt into the air and Vaughn tagged him out. Koch did not extend either of his legs while in the air. Still, Thompson came out and had a word with the home plate ump after the play.
One run, three hits, no Elder errors, one left.
Lebanon pitcher Colton Hartman (Louisville) had 14 ks. Sandhas had four ks and Kammerer had two.
I had Sandhas at 67 pitches when he was lifted in the top of the 7th (I may have been off by one or two).
After the game, the announcer said Hartman threw a one-hitter. The Lebanon fans yelled that it was a no-hitter. As that great American Bill Cunningham used to say, “Nah, baby, nah.” In the bottom of the third, with two down Hilton grounded slowly to second. The second baseman fielded it, got the ball in his right hand, and, after it appeared he decided not to throw to first, dropped the ball. Lebanon was not charged with an error by the official scorer (whoever that was, maybe a Princeton guy?) and Hilton was credited with a hit. It was on the scoreboard the rest of the game. So no, the Panthers were not no-hit yesterday. I know, scant consolation.

Unfortunately Elder ran into a really good pitcher yesterday, Junior Colton Hartman, who was on and has been on fire. His previous game vs. Kings he threw 6 innings giving up 1 hit and 0 runs striking out 11. Yesterday, Hartman struck out 14 and walked 3. The Lebanon coach is giving Hartman a no hitter according to the box score on gclsports.com Hartman is committed to play baseball at Louisville.

Congratulations to the Elder seniors on a great career at Elder.

Disappointing indeed. It never felt like they got on track this year.
