2022 Elder Baseball

Maybe Charlie Leesman? He had a cup of coffee in the majors. He probably graduated about 10 yrs ago.
According to Wikipedia, Leesman was drafted out of high school in ‘05 in the 40th round, didn’t sign, played at Xavier and then was drafted in ‘08 in the 11th round.

Interesting. For perspective, the draft is now only 20 rounds.

They have had a handful. Some that come to mind. Brad Hargraves, Billy O conner, Dave becker, Jason Poland are some over the past 25 yrs or so. Probably missing some. Most played at a college level before being drafted.

Dave Grawe was drafted in the 7th round of the 2nd ever draft (1966). He is the highest drafted Elder player out of high school.

I seem to remember a Rohrmier (sp?) being drafted, not sure if it was out of high school or not but he had a long minor league career. He hit well in the minors too but never got a call up. Maybe the 70's. Someone on here can shed light on this maybe?

Coach McCoy

Coach, Danny Rohrmier, class of 83. Cut 3 straight years and kept trying out. Made varsity his senior year and hit .350 with a lot of pop. Had a very long career in baseball. Always hit the heck out of the ball. I believe he had a brief call up to the majors.
