2021 Cincinnati Bengals

I'm liking the Bengals chances.
With the sweeping of the Steelers.
That the Steelers got the win over the Titans and Buffalo.
& the Bengals win over Kansas.
Of the final four. I believe we can win.
Titans fan here, I'll admit I rooted for the Steelers Sunday, I'd much rather play them then you. The Titans have had kind of a jekel and hyde season. Losses to the Jets, Texans, Cardinals, Steelers and Patriots. However, wins vs. Buffalo, Rams, Colts twice, and Chiefs. At this point the Titans, who've had various injuries all season, appear to be as healthy as possible now and Derek Henry is due to return. Bengals are arguably playing their best football right now.
No surprises with the Titans, they are physical and will run the ball or use the run to set up play action. The season really turned for Tennessee in week 7 on a Monday night vs. Buffalo. Titans were 3-3 at that time, losing big in the home opener vs. Arizona, getting a come from behind win at Seattle, beating the Colts then inexplicably to the Jets. The Titans ran off 4 straight over the Bills, and impressive big win over KC, beating the Colts at Indy but losing Henry, then beating the Rams in LA.
It's not been a thing of beauty most weeks as they've battled injuries all season. Julio Jones has played a handful of games, AJ Brown has missed games, and of course Henry. The defense has been the difference for this team. Jeffrey Simmons is a dominant defensive tackle, Denico Autry and Bud Dupree has been great, Harold Landry and David Long have been solid as well. The Titans front 7 is as good as any in football and they'll need to get after Burrow and force the ball to come out earlier than he wants.
I don't look for Henry to have a gigantic impact in this game, maybe 15 carries or so. D'onta Foreman and Dontrell Hillman have been good backs in Henry's absence. Should be a good one!

Titans are the #1 seed but in reality probably the #4. Chiefs, Bills, Bengals, Titans in my estimation. Tampa, Green Bay, LA, SF in the AFC. I like the Chiefs v Rams in the SB.

It's a good thing the games are played on the field and not paper. The Titans have flown under most people's radar all season. They are 4-3 vs. playoff teams and really could have easily been 6-2 had the Colts not melted down the last two weeks. In that aforementioned 4 game stretch (Bills, Chiefs, Colts and Rams) the Titans were underdogs in all 4 games.

You nailed it with the previous post, jekyll and Hyde....I really like the Titans but you never know. Should be a pretty good matchup

I’ll be rooting for the Titans. I don’t like to see my neighbors and friends happy.

Titans pass defense probably is not good enough to stop the Bengals. Can the Bengals slow down the Titans on the ground? That is the question. Close game, probably comes down to turnovers and the QB. Burrow or Tannehill? I'll say Cincy doesn't screw up in the red zone like they did vs. the Raiders, and Cincy wins 31-27.

I realize nobody knows the numbers better than the Vegas bookmakers, but I don't understand the Over/Under being 47. Both defenses are bottom 8 in the NFL in yards allowed, and both offenses can really score (7th and 14th in the NFL), especially the last month or so. If you are a gambler, I would hammer the Over, unless the weather is bad.

Should be a fun game.

Vegas knows.

I agree. They build their lavish casinos and resorts with money lost by silly people. But most of the books list Cincy / Titans as the lowest scoring game of the weekend. That feels wrong - only KC/Buffalo should be higher scoring. Maybe they think Burrow and the young Bengals get nervous on the big stage. I don't - I'll be betting the over on this one.

How much did hammering the over cost you

Silly people bet the over on this one. Vegas says thanks

How about those Bengals !

Now why do coaches think they should go for 2 when they do not need to? Had the titans kicked the extra point (yeah I know not a chip shot anymore) and everything stayed the same they would have been ahead 17-16 and would not be throwing the ball with 20 seconds left, they would be kneeling down to run out the clock...

As Vince Lombardi once said if you can't gain a yard you don't deserve to win.

Kramer said he could hear Lombardi’s voice in his ear, “if you can’t gain a yard, you don’t deserve to be champions.”

Apparently the analytics say to go for 2 from the 1 yd line. I don’t really understand that early in a game. In any case if Henry extends to ball 2 inches the Titans score. He was holding it tight to his body. If you fumble, you fumble doesn’t really matter.

Rather seen Buffalo win than KC. KC been there done that, Buffalo not so much. Hopefully Mathieu is out, Bengals need all the help they can get. Should be a high scoring game if and this is a big if the Bengals can give Burrow more than 2 seconds to throw the football. Hopefully the Bengals play well.

I hope the Bengals spend the week figuring out how to stop a pass rush because if they don't, the game will not end like the game against the Titans

If Pollack has not figured it out by now, I doubt he figures it out this week. If Pollack is the guy who picked Carman over Humphrey, and with this line struggling as bad as it is, Pollack should be sent packing.

I don’t doubt Humphrey would help the OL, but the Bengals needed at T. Their big mistake was caring more about the PR of drafting a local player instead of drafting the best T available. Carman underachieved his entire career at Clemson, there was not reason to take him.

Bengals held KC to 3 the 2nd half.
In week 17

That’s why analytics shouldn’t be gospel. It was clear points would be tough to come by in that game.

No, they were terrible all game. Burrow is accountable for half those sacks, but still 4-5 sacks is still bad.
when it counted joe was clean and the ball was completed to put ball in field goal range for the win.

good job oline when it counted.
