2015 State Brackets

Moeller jumps out to 8-1 lead, Panthers cut it to 4 multiple times, but can't get any closer as Moe pulls away for game 1 win, 25-17.

Panthers finally wake up and with several Moe service errors, take the third game 25-16. May be too little too late for Elder though.

There has not been a repeat Champion in Division I since Moeller in 2004 & 2005.

The last 3 State Champions in Division I have all bounced back from Runner-up finishes the year before to take the title. St X, the favorite, would be the 4th in a row.
2011 - St Eds over Moeller
2012 - Moeller over Darby
2013 - Darby over Elder
2014 - Elder over X

(2) Beavercreek def. (3) Lakota East 25-21, 25-15, 25-13

Some pretty boring Regional Finals just looking at the scores. Even some of the better looking matchups turned out to be duds. Only matches that weren't 3-0 were Darby/Gahanna (looks like best match of the weekend) and Elder/Moeller which wasn't close.

Ho-hum, D2 went chalk per usual. Only one match didn't end 3-0 and that one didn't seem like it was ever in danger of getting out of DeSales hands.

If Moeller plays the way they did against Elder, no way they lose to Davidson. Unfortunately they've been inconsistent this year and could be set up for a let-down following their Regional Championship win.

In D1 it's X's tournament to lose. I don't see them dropping a set all weekend, similar to what Elder did last year. They may get tough, close sets in all of their matches, but they are better than everyone else and the only team that matched up with them enough to beat them (Elder) IMO, will be sitting at home.

I'll make my picks later in the week. Will anyone be up at Captial for updates? I'll try to watch the online stream of the matches, but may not be able to early Saturday for the first few matches.

I would tend to agree with ads. Think Alter or Walsh could give X all they can handle but we won't get to find that out unfortunately

They should have the D1 State Champs play the D2 state champs, or do an all star game at the end of the season. That would be really entertaining to watch

Most years, the D1 State Champ would overwhelm the D2 State Champ just due to numbers. Though there have been D2 teams that have beaten D1 Finalists:
2014 - Elder (D1 Champ) lost in 3 to Watterson (D2 Runner-up)
2013 - Elder (D1 Runner-up) lost in 5 to Fenwick (D2 Champ)

That is a good point, but I do like the idea of an all star game. 1st team vs 2nd team or something along those lines.

I'm going to address this great idea in the All State thread...
DI all stars vs. DII all stars

This year I would take the DII team

My picks for tomorrow:

Moeller over Davidson in 4
St X over Darby in 3
Centerville over Ignatius in 3
Beavercreek over Eds in 4

Alter over Walsh in 5
DeSales over Bacon in 3

Sunday's predictions:
Moeller over Beavercreek in 4
St X over Centerville in 3

Alter over DeSales in 4
St X over Moeller in 3

Davidson blows the first set after leading by 3-4 most of the way. Moeller called a timeout at 18-22 and came back to win it 25-22.

Similar game 2, Davidson led by 2-4 through first half of the set and Moeller goes on a 10-point run when it was 13-15. They win 2nd set 25-17.

Moeller advances to the semifinals with a 3 set sweep of Davidson, 25-22, 25-17, 25-18. Moeller ran away with set 3 after Davidson started off strong 6-1.

Up next, our st. X bombers vs. Vanguard High School, ahem, I meant Hilliard Darby. Vanguard off to a great start. Coaches looking super fly as usual. Those matching baby blue top siders are making my mouth water.

9-14 Darby. X cannot contain the immense block of Darby. Let's see how they answer.

22-12 now. This is a Vanguard blocking show!!!! If they keep it up this game could get ugly.

First wow moment of the day, Darby takes set 1 over St X 25-16. Bombers fell behind early and Darby never looked back. Had leads of 19-10 and 22-12. X seemed to get a little comfortable towards the end of set 1, so we'll see how they come out in the next one.

Darby let X get a little momentum back at the end of set 1 and it carried over into set 2, Bombers behind some great play from Beer and Talbot win 25-13.
