2012 Div 2 regional alignments for Track?

Does anyone have information on how the regionals will work (in terms of which districts will go where and how many they will send) this upcoming season for Div 2 girl's track?

I think the East district has dropped from 29 Div 2 girls teams to 25; and I would imagine will have a combined district, only sending 4 in each event. Last year was 8 from SE and 8 from East at Meadowbrook.

When will this information be made available?

On another note the triple jump was voted down at Thursday's board meeting. The vote was 4 to 4. One member was absent so therefore the proposal didn't receive a majority vote..... Also Mr Slippery it looks like your girls will be joining us at the Navarre Regional this year....

I've thought for awhile that the girls would be moving down to DIII for track & field. CCC's female enrollment has really tanked these past few years, but the male enrollment hasn't changed too much. It's going to be extremely difficult for guys to get a prom date these next 2 years. ;)

I'm not sure if moving down to DIII is good or bad given how strong the competition is at both the Norwayne District (I imagine that's where the girls will compete this postseason) and the Navarre Regional. We shall see.

The Div II Regional that has been at Meadowbrook (Byesville) for a long time, will be at Athens. I wonder whether it will be at the High School or Ohio University?

The regional meet for this year (2012) will be at Athens HS. In Sept of 2010, a tornado hit the Athens area. It destroyed their pressbox, lighting, football field, track, concession....you get the idea. Anyway, everything has been resurfaced, repaired, etc. and will be opened for use this spring. The facilites will be very nice.

Nelsonville-York also has a new facility (about 5 years old). I think NY initially wanted the meet, but has passed it to Athens...at least for this year. However, 2013 is still up in the air. It is a possibility for the regional meet to rotate between the East and SE every year or every two years. This has yet to be determined. We will see.
