They were toe to toe with Coldwater a few yrs until their best player shredded his knee around midfield. He was a 2 way stud then CW pulled away.

You could be correct. They have had some very good teams up there in the pa

This is when a MAC team like Versailles reaps the rewards of that difficult schedule. I'll go with:

Versailles 28
Indian Lake 7

My guess WLS or Greenview. I saw V play twice vs NB and Marion Local no disrespect, but Versailles is not very good this year. If the Tigers do win R20 they should just blow the whole playoff system up and go to 5 divisions. Winning a region should be a great accomplishment, if Versailles wins R20 with a team that gave up 135 pts. combined to ML, Minster and Coldwater 2 very good D7 schools and a very good D6 school again if that is the case the playoffs as they are currently is a joke. But I would expect WLS or Greenview to win the region.
Blow the whole playoff system because Versailles lost to a historic Marion team, a D7 team that would win state any other year but this year in Minster, and Coldwater who will probably do no worse than runner-up in D6. "Oh the humanity"
A few years back, i recall a Versailles volleyball squad going .500 during the regular season and winning state. Should they have went to 2 divisions instead of 4, because it should be accomplishment to win your region? Hell, they have 7 divisions in volleyball this year. I'm sure there will be several unworthy champions this year for sure.

And there's 5 MAC Volleyball teams still alive

Versailles did more than just lose, they gave up 135 pts. in those 3 games. Yes IMO there are too many divisions and too many teams per region.

Edit: OHSSA has divisions supposedly for a reason the bigger division supposedly better teams. Yes, if V can win D5 R20, after losing to ML and Minster 83 - 0 IMO OHSAA has too many divisions, why have 7 divisions if V would win D5 R20. Other than money grab.

It won't be WLS.

Greeneview apparently has a stud QB.

Talked to q few greenview folks at the Coldwater.Clinton Massie.game and they seemed to.think they could take down Coldwater with their great QB.
Quit confusing your hatred for Bellefontaine with us poor Mennonite folk in West Liberty.

Versailles easily 35-7
I'm pulling for the Tigers all the way, and I believe they will win - but your score seems overly optimistic.

V has scored only 31 points total in its last five games.

And hey what are the seeds of these two - is this a 7 vs 10 matchup?

Hearing Versailles is got some key players injured for playoffs? If that is true then I will take IL by multiple scores.

I found out on my own that this is a 5 vs 12 (rather than 7 vs 10).

Bigger seeding spread than I had thought, but I still say the lower seed wins this one.

Good luck Tigers!

Do you project a running clock for IL? Versailles is on a 5 game skid where they were run ruled multiple times and gave up a fifty burger in week 9.

Will Versailles be able to handle all that IL speed?

MAC vs non-MAC .. make it sound close all you want guys but this one is gonna be 28-0 at halftime. Versailles gets the RC early in the 3rd and get the game over quickly

A lot of bulletin board material on here for the Lakers. Versailles being the MAC and being a historically good football program deserves them some credit, but IL deserves some credit based on their performances this year. They beat the teams they were supposed to beat and lost the 2 games they lose every time on paper. I think the combination of IL's speed and Versailles struggling the last 5 weeks and now dealing with injuries gives IL a good chance to win this one. I think it is a defensive battle for 4 quarters with a couple huge key plays in the 2nd half. I will go IL 21-14 but I could see this game being a running clock either way or a close one either way. This is the most interesting game in R20 by far this week.

It’s a different caliber football. I can give you 50 examples as to why I feel this way (and trust me, every part of me hopes Indian Lake makes me eat crow and wins this game). The first one that pops in my head is around 2010ish involves your tigers, #1 seed West Liberty-Salem vs #8 seed Versailles (back before 16). I believe you beat us at home 42-14. Seeds don’t matter for MAC teams.

EDIT: 2011: #1 WLS vs #8 Versailles 48-21

Fact. The MAC is probably the one league in the state that has benefited most from the expanded playoffs. Simply put, they get more teams in, and the ones that show up at 5-5 to 7-3, are seeded lower, but ready to win. Every MAC team is very prepared come Week 11 after that league schedule.

So, it should be subjective? Bad losses should affect your seeding?
I'm not necessarily a fan of 7 divisions, but that is what we have had for 12 years. 6 is enough, and better than A, AA, AAA. I think the kids play too many games to reach a state championship. 16 games and 2 scrimmages is too much on a 15-18 year-old body. Perhaps an 8 or 9 game schedule. The MAC struggles with non-league games anyways.
I like the idea of 12 teams, with top 4 teams getting byes. It rewards the teams that won during the regular season, and it rewards the teams that play "tough" schedules by still giving them a chance, albeit, they have to win an extra game.

I don't think bye weeks would be very beneficial to any team, it throws everyone off schedule.

I guess it is election season so giving that sort of non answer answer.............

To bring up a more serious/somber subject. On Pi day (Mar 14 for those non cool kids), Indian Lake was hit with an F3 Tornado where at least 3 souls lost their life. The damage was wide and extensive and quite a few families are still not back to their homes, and unfortunately many wll never be back to the level they were prior to this fateful day.

So fans of the Versailles striped kittens, it is only a few miles out of your way but if you would like a good place for some food and drink keep a few places in mind:
-La Playa Azul. They were hit pretty hard and just reopened last month. Very good mexican food.
-Buckeye at the Lake and LuLu's at the Lake. Both of these places went above and beyond the call of duty to serve the community for days and weeks with free meals. Buckeye at the Lake even was out of power for a few days and hooked up their generators to run their kitchen and gave away free pizzas. When businesses step up like this for their fellow man it should be commended.

-Indian Lake Brewing Company: THey will have Cousins Main Lobster Food Truck (of Shark Tank Fame) on site. I dont think they have Verasailles fav beverage, White Claw, but usually has some slushies for those light weights.

Trending at nearly 81% for the underdog which is suprising.

We shall see, but i predict versailles are already ready to put the season to bed after their that 5 game skids.

Lots of people have put forth this proposal - it seems the most sensible. 1-4 get a first-week bye, while 5-12 play each other. Thus, the game featuring the biggest seeding disparity is 5 vs 12, which seems reasonable.

Yes, 12 could win and then must face 1, but then the 12 would've proven it's better than its seeding indicated, and deserves such a shot at the top seed.

Under the current system, teams that finished as low as 2-8 (and are seeded 16th) don't seem to deserve to be in the playoffs, and are often mauled by the top seed in a game that is close to meaningless - a contest that does little to help either team.

Will any of those establishments be live streaming the game?
White Claws....funny guy!

No idea but I would doubt it. There seems to be two distinct communities, the Lake community and the 'town/school' community and most of the places cater to the Lake Rats from what I have noticed.

Im sorry, yall watch your fitness, do they make a White Claw Lite?

CBC Awards came out and IL BOTH the OPOY and the DPOY.

IL Stats:

Top Rusher Clay is extremely quick and WR OPOY I believe has taken some direct snaps for runs as well.
The second WR, an uber talented Soph, only has 24 catches but I would not be surprised if he doesnt get a few deep attempts.
Very good KO return duo of aforementioned OPOY and Soph WR.
