D V State Semifinal: West Liberty Salem vs. Ironton

Don't listen to Wobycat. wheelersburg, over the years, has been getting kids from Green Township, South Webster, Portsmouth, Ironton, Ashland, Minford, East, and probably a couple of more.

D V State Semifinal: West Liberty Salem vs. Ironton

ITCLChamp11, point taken about Ironton's lack of success recently against northern Ohio - especially NWO... But, we've beaten the best that central Ohio and southwest Ohio have to offer. So. our success has not been ONLY against SEO teams.

DV regional semi #4 (10-1) Harvest Prep vs #1 (11-1) Ironton

Huge fan and ex-Tiger... But, I'm skeptical about Ironton improving their play at this point. They've played this way all year and pretty much Pendleton's entire time there. I give him lots of credit in regard to training, exposure for kids, the re-emergence of the program - but they never look...

DV regional semi #4 (10-1) Harvest Prep vs #1 (11-1) Ironton

Ironton did not play well Friday vs Heath. Twelve penalties, undisciplined, almost blew a 24-0 lead... If they play a cleaner game, they'll beat Prep. If not, it's a toss-up.

My Ironton Fighting Tigers haven't changed since the early 70s.

OHSAA Wants To Continue To Play State Football Title Games In Canton...WHY?

For one thing, it's more of a home game atmosphere for the closer team, depending on how big the travelling disparity is. I, and several people I know, would have gone to see Ironton in Columbus. But, we did not travel to Canton. Depending on the game day and time, a lot of folks can't possibly...

OHSAA Wants To Continue To Play State Football Title Games In Canton...WHY?

Ironton alum perspective... I think there's a definite advantage when one team in a title game has 4-5 hours of travel and the other has - say - 1 hour. I'd like to see a more centrally located site. Having said that, a few more thoughts come to mind... *I know a bid must be put in to host. *A...

    Division 5 in 2023???

"I could be way off, but I believe Ironton will go as far as the guys wearing the headsets take them." Unfortunately, this is on target. He does a GREAT job at training/weights, getting kids exposure, and hype/PR (strong, impressive social media presence...the Ironton classic, camps, etc.)...

    Ironton Independent in 2024

Ironton born & bred here... Don't listen to Paladin. Ironton was a bit downtrodden a few years ago - but has bounced back with new businesses, hotels, etc. And, most of their big scholarship dudes are from Ironton - Carrico to Ohio State, Carter to Cincinnati, Duncan to Miami. The transfers have...

What school has been Runner Up the most?

The frustrating thing about Ironton's losses are that 4 were very close - and 3 of those involved very controversial calls that had big impacts on the losses. *1988: Lost to ASVSM 14-12. On one of our two-point conversions, a WR caught the pass literally with a foot on the goalline & it was...

Division V State Championship: Ironton (15-0) vs. South Range (15-0)

I don't want to kick the guy when he's down. But, yeah, coaching was probably a factor. I think he does a great job promoting the program & kids - and a great job training the players. It's just that maybe he should consider hiring coordinators. The same was evident when wheelersburg upset them...

Division V State Championship: Ironton (15-0) vs. South Range (15-0)

I have to admit, I'm becoming a little leery about this game for the Tigers. Ironton has, this season, now beaten the best D5 schools southeast Ohio has to offer, presumably the best of the Cincy/Dayton area in Valley View, and the best of the Columbus area in Harvest Prep. If we can't hang with...

Division V State Championship: Ironton (15-0) vs. South Range (15-0)

Not complaining... But, I bet that's true of a lot of folks - unable to attend because of the gametime/gameday. That's definitely true of me.

Division V State Championship: Ironton (15-0) vs. South Range (15-0)

I'm not sure how the 2019 title game was a "bloodbath". It was a 17-7 game. And I'd bet that the upset loss to wheelersburg is more like motivation for the Tigers, as opposed to a momentum killer.

Division V State Championship: Ironton (15-0) vs. South Range (15-0)

They may very well be on a mission, but don't you think that maybe a team who has been runner-up 2 of the last 3 years might be on a similar - or maybe more determined - mission ? Not challenging the desire of SR or anything...just a thought.

Division V State Championship: Ironton (15-0) vs. South Range (15-0)

I'm not familiar with South Range at all. But, Ironton has shut down some stout offenses the last couple of weeks. Harvest Prep was averaging 41 points a game & Ironton shut them out. Valley View's offense only scored 14 on them & one of those drives was the result of two long passes kinda...

Division V State Championship: Ironton (15-0) vs. South Range (15-0)

Don't be fooled by the score. Ironton scored the final 28 points of the game vs VV. If they'd have played the whole game like that, it would have (and, in my opinion, should have) been a running clock. Nothing but respect for VV and SR, but the "on a mission" and "on another level" statements...
