Great person and a proud St. Ed's alum, RIP.

    Week 7 - St. Edward (3-3) @ St. Ignatius (1-5)

Wildcat Freshmen were big on the lines as its been previously mentioned. They looked like they could score at will with the streak down the side to #4. Ed's Freshmen made it pretty easy too, played a horrible game with muffed punts, a fumble that led to a big return, etc but I just don't think...

He had a great catch and run last week! I think they will evolve in the ways we are talking about. At some point, the best 11 players will be on the field and give us the best chance. I wouldn't expect much different this week from what we have seen. Pretty curious to see how things change...

Short week this week with Glenville and us playing on Thursday night. I hope they will be able to prepare enough and work on some of the offensive kinks they've experienced. The offense has big play capability with its wideouts but I think a step forward would be some methodical drives this week.

I wouldn't agree with this. It leaves out the fact that Ignatius is still a much larger school. I have a hard time believing they are just getting a much higher share of Catholic/private grade school kids and not getting public school kids to go there. They do just fine with their other sports.

I wouldn't agree with this. Massillon has a lot of athletes and wanted to get them the ball in space. I thought we matched them ok for most of the game. The defense forced two turnovers last night. They will continue to get better too.

O-line is a concern but part of a larger issue. I don't think they've figured out what their bread and butter runs are, especially with the injury this year. We did get spoiled with great lines the past few years where it almost didn't matter, more often than not you were going to get 4-5...

    2024 St. Edward Football

History vs Massillon: 1999 lost 31-14 2000 lost 28-27 on a last second FG (we also missed one I thought and there was a controversial play late in the game) 2003 won 27-6 (their TD was the result of our d-lineman, Nate Smith, returning a fumble or int the wrong way) 2004 won 37-7 (I believe...

I think Alex Middleton was our best 3rd down receiver ever. I'm still shocked we lost to Mentor (of course it took an absolute monster day by Trubisky and Fritts too) because I just felt whenever we needed a first down, we had Middleton running a 12 yard square in. With Anthony Young running...

I just wouldn't forget that Lombardo seems to have a knack for getting quarterbacks to play really well by the playoffs. Keefe did not start off well. Kramer did not start off well. Both of them were night and day different by week 11.

I am going to be very curious to see the freshmen game this year. I don't care if they lost to Walsh and really the score of the game between Ed's and Ignatius won't matter much either. But what talent potential is there? Can they hang physically? Can they match the speed? Those are things...

They played well in the fourth quarter I thought. The rushing attack and offensive line got into rhythm. The pick 6 is where things got challenging but also the only point where Ed’s didn’t feel in control. The difference between last week and this week was that when Elder had the lead they...

    St. Edward(2-1) vs. Elder(3-0) 2:00pm TODAY

Overall a well played game by both teams. Elder just has a great offensive scheme. I thought the Eagle d line did well, they had 4 or 5 sacks. The pick 6 really made things interesting but happy Ed’s used their running game to put it away.

Moeller is interesting, they've had a lot of success but at the same time they had a down year or two in the past decade with a couple different coaches. Ed's is the class of division 1 right now although this year's team is very beatable.

The fact Hoban can compete that well with Ed's is a win. 900 boys to what? 300-350? I know it is not all about enrollment and for years Benedictine, Cardinal Mooney and Ursuline would punch well above their weight (I still remember in 1999 Mooney came into Lakewood and absolutely waxed St...

Ed's was fine but not the caliber they've been. They lost to Medina in the regionals, the Bees had Drew Allar. Hoban was absolutely loaded and I hadn't seen a team beat Ed's that bad in a long time.

Elder and Ed's always seem to play close games, even when there is a talent gap. I think the Panther offense generally finds success and keeps the ball longer than most opponents do against the Eagles and they make St. Ed's drive the length of the field, not cash in on big plays. This is...

    2024 St. Edward Football

I’d argue about this being a bad loss. No one likes to lose but 21-21 at half. Really bad interception when you had your best drive of the game right after your starting running back get hurt killed us. Coupled with the fact that Boyle County’s offense ran circles around our D and we did not...

    2024 St. Edward Football

I disagree that it wouldn’t have made a difference. The game plan seemed to be leaning on a run game without letting your back up lose it and when Ed’s went down they had to open it up more. They had drives stall and a pick was thrown I believe early in the 4th quarter when Ed’s was driving...

It isn't, he said they talked with him after he showed interest. I am assuming that means he either filled out some contact form or went to something like an open house. Those are just two ways that it could work. As long as the kid/family reach out first, Catholic schools can talk with them...
