    State Meet Improvements

Does anyone know the length of agreement between Obetz and OHSAA? Who helps select a new site if/when the time comes? Does the OATCCC have any voice in the process? Are there any other dedicated cross country courses in the state besides Cedarville and BGSU? Any other really sweet parks that...

    State Meet Improvements

While we're spitballing ideas... Why are we married to places with giant grandstands as hosts? We get through districts and regionals without permanent seating. A place like Cedarville would be a fantastic venue for the state meet. The course itself is plenty wide. The layout is very spectator...

    State Meet Improvements

I agree a tighter schedule would be better for most everyone in the stadium. If memory serves, we went to these gaps in the divisions during Covid, and they've stuck, I suspect, to aid in clearing out the parking lot for the next group. My complaint about the closeness of races really only...

    State Meet Improvements

Another thought: In the good old days, we did all three girls races then all three boys races (or vice versa). Now we group both genders by division. The disadvantage of our current schedule is to coaches who work with both genders in the same division. Very hard to offer your full attention...

    State Meet Improvements

Overall, the state meet is a wonderful meet. A few ideas (some echoing others above): 1. More coaching bibs. An individual qualifers has been surrounded by a team and multiple coaches all year long. Many people beyond the head coach have contributed to that person's success. Perhaps, like the...

    Regional Course comparisons

Troy was in maybe the best shape I've ever seen it. Very rare that the weather isn't miserable there for the regional meet. The result was the fastest regional meet I can remember (and I've probably been to 30 of them at Troy). In my opinion, I'd say you have the regional courses ordered...

Can Mason B & G repeat another double win at DI State meet

1-5 split is certainly not the end-all-be-all, but it is an interesting statistic to look at, and certainly every team should aspire to keep their number 5 man as close to their #1 as possible. I expected Mason to look a little sharper and more dominant yesterday. St. X has a long history of...

    Timing Companies

I totally agree, Javman. My issues are 1000 percent with the Milesplit interface. As I said above, Mike and his crew at Finishtiming are absolutely amazing. The best of the best in terms of timing companies, in my experience. The Milesplit interface is terrible, though, and as a coach and fan...

    Timing Companies

Mike and the Finishtiming crew are fantastic. Always friendly and willing to accomodate coaches' requests. Always able to quickly and efffectively address any issues that do arise during a meet. When we've traveled to out-of-state meets, I've always said that we've been spoiled over the years by...

Can Mason B & G repeat another double win at DI State meet

After looking at district results, I think that Mason has a great chance of the double double. Their men's team now has 7 under 16:09 on the season. And an eighth who has run 16:16, although Brendan Roe, who ran under 16 at Nike Twilight a few weeks ago, didn't run at districts. If Buckalew can...

State track meet back to Welcome Stadium this spring?

Hopefully that means a return to Jesse Owens in 2025. Welcome Stadium is a wonderful facility, but it aint Jesse Owens.

State track meet back to Welcome Stadium this spring?

Saw this article today. Is the state meet back to Dayton? State meet to welcome?

Schools Not Happy With OHSAA After State Track Meet

It was a wonderfully run meet. I thought every official, event worker, etc. that I encountered was kind, helpful, and patient. Despite challenging and unpredictable weather for the DI meet, everything ran smoothly once the skies cleared. I even thought they were much more efficient getting kids...

    DI, R4 Regional at Wayne

Dyer second in the 1600? To whom? He's run 4:07. No one else has run close to that. And he doubled really well at Mason last week. Wouldn't shock me if he won the 800, as well.

Mason Invite - MILE ASSAULT !

Wonderful race. Dyer made a decisive move from about 500 out and was the class of the field from there. Tied up just a bit on the homestretch, but the damage was done. He looks every bit a serious contender to give Loveland the back-to-back state title in the 1600. As discussed on these boards...

I believe I saw a picture on social media with a banner that read "Vince Mercure and Ron Russo Colerain Invite"

UPDATED - Zuleger Inivte - Girls 4x4 times - Disputed

I can't get my milesplit rankings to work today for some reason, but in looking at the live results, it looks like they had 4x4 races (girls race won in 3:59, which seems reasonable), and a MIXED 4x4 relay (won in 3:47). Did the mixed relay end up in the girls rankings in error?

    Ohio all-time 3200 sub 9?

Thank you, all, for the data. Ohio has some great track history. Hard to believe Zach Wills didn't break 9:00 for 3200. I do believe he ran well under (like 8:54 maybe?) for a full two miles. I'm hoping the list grows this spring with Ackley (already under indoors), Richutti, Allwein, Dyer...

    Ohio all-time 3200 sub 9?

Perusing results from this weekend, I saw that 44(!) HS boys broke 9:00 in the 3200 at Arcadia. Incredible performances. When I was growing up in the sport, it seemed the 9:00 mark was a hallowed one - maybe not quite as sacred as the 4:00 mark, but close - reserved territory that only the...

    Can it be true?

It was a very nice effort for this early in the season, made even more impressive by the fact that they were solo for 2.5 legs.
