Pro Life Advocate home raided...guns drawn in front of his children

They are sentencing principals? Lol. Probably should some of them.

But what does the purpose and principles of felony sentencing in Ohio have to do with the price of tea in China... or with the blatant use of federal law enforcement using its powers on its political opponents?
It has to do with the fact that the mildly informed crowd (led by Yorktown in this instance) complains that Mr. Houck is being picked on, that as he is being made an example of...

And my reply is...yes, that's correct. That's one of the main purposes of criminal justice...to deter others. It's written right into the laws. Works sometimes (usually not!)...

I see.

But me thinks that you are overlooking the fact that, on the surface, this appears to be part of the mountain I was talking about.

Your arguments are not very persuasive counselor. Keep trying however.

well i guess the Philly DA didn't feel that he should be picked on

Could be…

Maybe he didn’t think it fit the definition of the Pa. assault law or Philly codified ordinances assault law…and there’s likely no state law FACE equivalent

Go into any Federal courthouse…all day…every day…

Drug trafficking conspiracies, illegal gun possessions, armed robberies, kiddie porn…

Is that tough enough for you?
Oh please, there are to many folks at the FBI chasing after imaginary white supremacists, angry parents at school bard meetings and now pro life demonstrators. The damage to the FBI's reputation that this reckless behavior has caused is incalculable.

Ohio Revised Code 2929.11(A)…

The purpose and principals of felony sentencing in Ohio…

“To achieve those purposes, the sentencing court shall consider the need for incapacitating the offender, deterring the offender and others from future crime, rehabilitating the offender, and making restitution to the victim of the offense, the public, or both.”
Word Salad, Let's hear about a civil society and intent of law.

You agree. great.
If you keep looking the other way eventually you become Bonhoeffer.

The law can used however those in power want.
There are books filled with laws at just the Federal level.
Hell I am on a planning committee in my small town.. the Codified Ordinances book is ridiculously thick. Too much power and too many laws.

I guess you're not aware of this...what a surprise.

With most cities, the Codified Ordinances are little more than a re-write of the State code. Change the numbering scheme, tweak the fines...but it's just the Ohio Revised Code written for local use (allowing the city to charge offenses with a city law rather than state code, which allows the local community to keep more fine money).

This response...another great example of what MAGA is...a protest movement gathered around "NO". Yeah, let's throw out the laws. Which ones? How about the drug laws? That's a big part of that thick book called the Codified Ordinances. And there are some valid arguments that the drug problem is more a public health problem than a criminal problem (some of that argument I agree with; some not). But, when you ask the people on this forum (as I have), the overwhelming majority don't want to do that...you people think it's outrageous and you send me lots of howling emoticons 🤣....

How about traffic laws...speeding, driving without a license, driving drunk, assured clear distance...want to get rid of those? Again, the traffic section of the Codified Ordinances is a very big portion.

Trespass? Disorderly Conduct? Pouring toxic waste down sewers? Want to get rid of those?

You people don't want to govern. It gives you all a headache...

It's interesting how dug in people are on this issue. It really comes down to whether Houck blocked access to the clinic. If he did, prosecute him and come up with a fair punishment similar to others that have committed the same crime.

If he did not block access, then shame on the DOJ/FBI. This man's life has been turned upside down by the power of the government.

This case should be a slamdunk for the DOJ/FBI to move forward as they have.

How about walking your Duck down Ohio Avenue on a Sunday?
To analyze laws and ask if these are still needed is not a stretch.
Who is asking to remove trespassing laws, disorderly conduct and drunk driving laws?

Oh and by they way if you haven’t noticed alll the above that I have mentioned is not being enforced in just about every big city in California.
So when you say “MAGA’ doesn’t want to govern is complete nonsense.

Welcome to criminal law, my underinformed friend. It’s ALL about making an example.

Said most the Germans as their Jewish neighbors were raided and drug off by the Gestapo for things like "suspicion of blocking entrances."
Historically speaking there is zero difference between you and them.

Our Founders feared the presence of a standing army in our streets, but they never envisioned that one day we’d have an even more powerful force than an army deployed domestically. Rather than calling it a military, we simply call it the FBI. But make no mistake, the bureau has more authority, firepower, resources, and surveillance than any military James Madison could have envisioned. Such amassed power would be frightening enough in the hands of good people, but now that we know the FBI is full of neo-Marxists directing operations against patriot Americans, how is dismantling of the FBI not the biggest priority of Republicans?

James Madison thought owning human beings was just fine...so...!? Left handed people are evil too...
