Dominant running teams

Are there any “run only” programs who are considered a perennial contender or a great program? The last one I can remember were those unstoppable Colerain teams who’d score 50 a game with just a couple of passes sprinkled in.

They were the reason I asked that question. And then I got to thinking and could not come up with any. Someone suggested Clinton Massey…. That’s one that fits the bill of “run only” great programs. Any others out there.

Chardon has been a “run only” program since 1985.

Believe it or not Dover is only throwing about 10-12 passes a game and probably half of those are behind the LOS

The Massillon Perry Panthers made the D2 state championship game in 2015 and 2016 while running the wing-T

Norwalk St. Paul...usually a DVII regional contender and primarily a run team.

St Mary’s runs maybe the cleanest wing T I’ve seen. Sprint from the huddle to the line of scrimmage and snap the ball within 2 seconds of being at the line of scrimmage with wicked speed.

We’ve been doing that for a long time too

Lucas had games in 2018 and 2019 where they won throwing 0 passes, including a program record 583 yards rushing (24th all-time) vs Harrison Central.

Lately, you can throw neighborhood school Bellevue in as well, i.e. QB draws

Marysville, New Albany, Pickerington Central, Lancaster, Fisher Catholic, Hamilton Township all run a ton.

I wouldn’t call Fairmont a power, but they have been known to not throw a single pass in a game on many occasions.

Agree, Norton ran 65 times when I saw them against Streetsboro. Even their 2 min "O" is run heavy.
