100,000 cases of coronavirus already in Ohio

Well, that last part is part of human nature too.

But what do you think? I'm asking you for your perspective and opinion. Should we get vaccinated even though we have already had the disease?
Right now, I have no plans to. How long are we being told we need to wait anyway? 90 days? I am thinking of getting the antibody test in a couple of months to see if still present in my system.

Well, that last part is part of human nature too.

But what do you think? I'm asking you for your perspective and opinion. Should we get vaccinated even though we have already had the disease?
My perspective is that it's still too early to understand if natural immunity will last as long as that given to you by a vaccine. I assume we will find out more about how the vaccines protect people who have already had COVID as time moves forward. I've also read studies that people with prior COVID infections that have since been vaccinated have had better immune responses against B.1.1.7 and B.1.351 (U.K. & South African variants), as opposed to those who have not been previously infected. So I guess there's a bonus, if you buy the variant hype.

As far as opinion is concerned, I would hope that you would choose to get vaccinated, as the data we have at present seems to suggest you may have immunity for a longer period of time, and have a better immune response to any bizarre strands that may appear. But who knows. This may not prove out. And you can tell me I was wrong. But in attempts to be a decent 'human', whether we disagree, call each other names, or harbor angst and disgust with one another, I will always advocate for your continued health and wellness. But again, please don't conflate this stance with that of someone who would attempt to shame or attempt to convince you to get a vaccine.

Aside from that perspective, I believe that it's a personal choice about your health/body. I may not agree with it, but will respect it. I 'believe' I was infected last March, before much was publically known. After the fact, and given the circumstances, it would appear that I had all the tell tale signs and tested negative for everything else at the time. I still chose to get the vaccine when it was available for me. But again, to each their own. As long as we're not intentionally or negligently putting people at risk, I'm good with whatever you choose.

Nice speech, but you're not really okie dokey with it ?

This Saturday will be my 4th attempt at getting the JJ shot....
So I guess I get to be a douche bag and virtue signal my COVID vaccs card...

Well, let's say some self-righteous dude is running his mouth b/c my kid is wearing a mask in public. And he tells me that he's going to cough in my kids face because I'm an awful parent. He then bends down and willfully coughs in my kids face. Now, I don't know if he's had a vaccine or not, or whether he's low-risk or high-risk, etc., or simply an a**hole. But in any case, he's my caveat. And there will be a problem. ?‍♂️ And sadly, this is not an extreme example. Nonsense like this has already happened.

Call the police, he's going to jail imo. Big cities I'm not sure what you do. Police are evil

Not doubting you because people are crazy and you can't discount anything, but where has this happened?

Hard to argue with that!

Just a couple points on your statements about immunity. In all my experience and study, I would say that the general rule is that natural immunity is superior to immunity via vaccine. We are too early into this to know for sure about COVID, but I tend to apply the rule to things rather than the exception - until forced to go with the exception. However, you have to get the disease to get this immunity, and while I don't think its the end of the world if, say, a healthy person under the age of 70 gets it, it is still not any fun and it certainly can put your health and life at some risk.

The data I looked at showed that the reinfection rate of people with previous COVID-19 infection is .6%. Therefore, I would presumably have a 99.4% chance of having lifetime immunity against that particular virus. That's pretty darn good. The reinfection rates of vaccinated people are around 4-5%. Pretty darn good, but not as good as those who got infected and recovered. So, I would view that as an indication that I already have the best immunity available. You point out that we don't know how long that will last. Well, as far as I know, I have never been reinfected a single time by viruses I previously had, so I am going to go ahead an assume that the rule applies to this virus as well.

And finally. you didn't really address the logic of vaccinating those who have recovered from COVID. The purpose of vaccination is to stimulate antibody formation and the entire immune response without causing the actual illness. If someone already has antibodies and, presumably, memory B and T cells, why would you want to activate those with a vaccination? To achieve what has already been achieved? That makes no sense to me. The expected result of such a thing would be an immune response that generally results in fever and other accompanying signs and symtpoms - which is going to carry some degree of risk to health with it. I honestly don't get it.

Only the sheep think everyone should be vaccinated.

I try to put myself in the other guy's shoes. If I believed fully in these vaccinations and was comfortable with and trusted what I was being told by government and the public health establishment, I would advocate for everyone to get vaccinated. If you believe that vaccine immunity is superior to that obtained by getting the virus, then that would cause you to advocate for universal vaccination. Also, a lot of people say they have had COVID, but were never tested, and one might assume many of them haven't really had it. And finally, if you believed that vaccine was the only sure way to ensure the eradication of the Rona, then you would take that position.

As it is, universal vaccination as a goal poses a lot of philosophical, political, constitutional, logical, and scientific problems for those of us on the right.

But, at least with me, I think Usher has been totally reasonable. He is clearly on the side of universal vaccination, but hasn't advocated coercion. That's reasonable.

These COVID vaccines are going to be another yearly vaccine just like the flu vacs.
There will be no eradication of COVID.
So the panic porn will be used for as long as possible. It is fading fast however. Even leftist media is starting to ask hard questions of the leftist in charge about the need to continue with the mandates.
So leftist will now do a hard tact and try to sell the concept of having covid style lockdowns for the benefit of the earth..... leftism is a mental illness

Test the woman if she tests positive for flu or the bat virus or some other transmittable disease fine her. People need to get a grip in this country and look at the facts and quit living the media hysteria.
I'm guessing street justice will run it's course regardless. Look for more Twisted Tea can incidents in the future.

Yeah, that stuff happens every time you go out, right?

You got more of a chance of a man of color carjacking you, or shooting or stabbing you.

So you would be cool if he bent over, coughed in your kids face as long as he is vaccinated ?

So the panic porn will be used for as long as possible. It is fading fast however. Even leftist media is starting to ask hard questions of the leftist in charge about the need to continue with the mandates.
So leftist will now do a hard tact and try to sell the concept of having covid style lockdowns for the benefit of the earth..... leftism is a mental illness
I think this is what the left WANTS to do, but I have my doubts about them pulling it off. I think they need variants/mutations to become antibody resistant and start another epidemic/pandemic. The problem is that the rule is that mutations tend to get less infectious and less dangerous over time, not more. So, they would need the exception to take place. The other problem they have is that when people don't really feel threatened, they become very difficult to scare, and that lack of fear translates to difficulty to control.

I've seen it here. I haven't heard anyone mention our governor's name in months. No one cares what he says, they have decided to move on. Now, we have a unique culture, so it's going to be different, for sure, in urban areas, but even other rural areas. However, once people don't know of anyone getting infected by COVID or even hearing about it, the fear will go and the left's ability to control will go with it. There are just a few ways to control people: love, hate, fear, and raw power. Govt is not capable of love, hate is unpredictable and can blow back on you, and raw power creates rebels. So, fear it is. But it is very difficult to sustain without a substantive basis.

Of course I'm quibbling over poor wording. Words still matter to some of us. And the context with which those words are used to craft a specific message for the reader. It would appear that if parents reading the article take a cursory glance, they'll interpret the requirement as their child needing to wear two masks at camp this summer. This seems to be the complaint for most of those who whine about MSM coverage, no? You can opine that you believe the recommendations are insane, and I don't agree with all of them either for the record. But I'll research the options and make the best determination for my kids. I'm sure other parents will do the same. We may even go old-school camping again this summer sans the masks. But I'm not sure how we'll virtue signal as a family without them? We'll have to think about that.

Now you're quibbling over quibbling! It's the mask requirements and social distancing that are excessive here. One mask is pretty much as bad as having to wear two masks. And don't get me started on the requirement to not share items and the excessive cleaning requirements. Wasn't it the CDC that just said that it was almost impossible to spread the covid from contaminated surfaces?

The CDC summer camp recommendations are insane. If you want your kids to live in fear then go ahead and send them to a camp taking these insane precautions.

I am not. If I go to a private business that requires it I wear one bc I am not a selfish A###Hole

Would you wear a hard hat or eye googles if Kroger required it? I would laugh and say "well it's time to learn where the milk is at Meyers".

I don’t know what to tell you. You seem to pay more attention to the CDC and incessantly quibble over them more than perhaps anyone else on the forum. Directing your anger at other posters does nothing. I clearly don’t make the recommendations, and as already mentioned, don’t buy everything they’re selling either.

As far as the kids are concerned, the ones in our community get more wound up with anxiety over active-shooter drills than wearing a damn mask. In case you missed it, another school shooting today. Oh, and a military trainee hijacked an elementary school bus in SC as well. One of these things will end, while the other will inevitably continue.
