Bob "Wiz" Ellis, the longtime head coach of Kettering Alter passed away today. He was 76. Bob died unexpectedly at his home, this morning, of an apparent heart attack.

Bob was Alter's head boys soccer coach for over 30 years and ranks 8th on the all time wins list with 412 wins. Bob won three state championships (1996, 1998 and 2016) and was runner-up four times in his ten state appearances with Alter. He gave no indication of retiring from doing what he loved: coaching Alter soccer.

He will be missed by many.

RIP Bob Ellis

EDIT: 412 wins, not 409. Also, four state runner-ups, not three.

Prayers and condolences to the Ellis family on Bob's passing. He is a legend at Alter, earning his 400th win this year and is in the OSSCA Hall of Fame. Bob always gave back to the game as he was the treasure for the Miami Valley Coaches Association and the Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association. He offered his CPA expertise at no cost to either association, he provided valuable input, and has always been there to help as needed. His passing is a tremendous loss for the high school soccer community. Please pray for the Ellis family and RIP Bob!
