Holy roid rage by Castner- he was trying to fight Moeller for like 5 minutes! Kept trying to break free from the other coaches holding him back- what an embarrassment. You would think he would be used to losing to Moeller by now…
If the Head Coach of any HS Team was actually trying to fight HS Kids he should be fired immediately!!! What has Mason Football ever Won under this a ss Clown?

I think They took Marshall out before the end of the first quarter. They played a freshman quarterback for most of the game that had no previous varsity experience. They were playing with their 3rd and 4th string running backs for most of the game. Score is a little misleading. It could have been much worse if all the starters played the whole game. He likes to get a lead and then he subs like crazy.

This is exactly what happened. After 21-0 lead Coach Elder completely took his foot off the gas pedal and it almost him. I have no idea why he did this tonight with so much on the line? The good news Moeller has found its QB for the next 3 years. Wow!!

What a circus over the last half.
How many penalties can you call and still keep Mason in the game?
Utterly ridiculous.
One of the Mason coaches trying to start a fight at the end of the game and has to be held back by his staff.
Players shook hands just fine.

Actually was going after the Moeller coaches. The kids were all in the handshake line and seemed unaware of the coach losing his sh1t. Last night some of his kids would ever put on the uniform and instead of being a leader for them he was in a blinding rage fit- horrible leadership.

Right on. Instead of being there for his players, he was having to be restrained for his own issues. Like you said, some of the players will never put the uniform on again. Instead of being able to have moments with their teammates on the field (both sides), the police was ordering the field to be cleared of everyone. It was a really bad look and unfortunate for the players.

Maybe Coach Elder shouldn’t have been telling Coach Castner how to coach his team after a season ending loss in the handshake line? Coach Elder needs to worry about himself not how others Coach their team. Just because Moe subbed it doesn’t mean Mason had to. Have some feel for the situation, take the W, and move on.

Why? They’re getting their second string some time. Wish others would do that too. 😎👍🏻
He had to reinsert his starters to win the game. This included Marshall, who had been out since the 2nd quarter. Clearly he did not have the game secured like he thought. And hats off to Mason players for refusing to quit.

Their is no real defense for a HS Coach trying to fight other HS Coaches. Good try though!

Coach Castner should have also had some feel for the situation and gone to be with his team who needed him. Ok so if Elder said something that got him riled up- why did it take 5 minutes for him to get dragged off the field? He was being restrained by his coaching staff the entire time his team was shaking hands with Moeller and was still carrying on- that’s beyond ridiculous. Then his assistant coaches came down from the booth jawing at people too- one supreme tool middle aged coach yelling at Moeller fans “I got my ring”- just an epic display of immaturity.

Mason has huge numbers, great demographics, open enrollment, incredible facilities, tons of resources and all of that is negated by Castner. No high school coach does LESS with more than Brian Castner. In addition to being a poor coach, his post game antics indicate he’s an awful person as well.

💯 And, if you attended the 7 v 7 between Moe and Mason in the summer of 2021, you had a front row seat to confirm this.

All around bad situation. It doesn't matter what Coach Elder said. You can't react like that in that situation. It could have gotten uglier than it was. I don't think the players from either side initially knew what was really happening because they were going through shaking hands with each other. If you get 15-18 year old boys full of emotion on both ends after a game wanting to defend their coach, it could have gotten a lot worse. Whatever he said, their coach absolutely lost his mind. Of course, it was going to trickle down to the assistants.

To clarify- the assistants were coming down from the booth- they had no idea what had been said on the field- were just jawing off on their own

I didn’t/couldn’t see any of that coach behavior stuff on the live stream, but Caster’s kids played a very disciplined game (1 penalty) but obviously it wasn’t enough.

Moeller on the other hand racked up several unsportsmanlike penalties (to go along with several other penalties = 14-117 yrds). Again, I didn’t see the stuff that happened after the game; perhaps he was partly upset about those Moeller personal foul/ unsportsmanlike penalties and conduct of the Moeller players (player safety issue) which of course is a reflection of the Moeller coaching staff. 🤷‍♂️

It had nothing to do with the game or players. It goes back a couple of years to a few things said and done by caster. Some people wanted to see Mark run the score up in retaliation and anyone watching knows he could have chose to do that. He did the right thing and took his foot of the gas (probably prematurely).Right or wrong he did bring up casters past actions and caster responded like a donkey. End of story time to move on.

If Marshall played the whole first half, it would have been a second half running clock. I believe it was 21-0 and he was pulled in the 1st quarter. Coach let up way too soon and he said he learned a lesson in the post game interview. Pretty gutsy playing a freshman quarterback with no varsity experience in that environment. He sure didn’t play like a freshman or with nerves. Receivers need to do a better job of catching the ball and they have to get special teams figured out quick. Next week is going to be a tough one. Wonder if they will play it at Mason.. ha ha.

Context?

Moeller played the entire starting line-up, mixing in one Oline and two Dlinemen, besides Marshall until it was 24-0 late in the game. To say they took there foot off the gas too early is comical. Throwing the ball deep continuously is taking your foot off the gas? LOL. Granted, if Marshall plays they probably do score more, however his other TD was off a backside screen that was called at the perfect time catching Mason in a blitz. Anyone could have scored on that play. Mason D was tougher than expected against the run and Moeller O played undisciplined and dropped passes that should have been TD's. Lets not kid ourselves and act like the rb2 or rb3 wouldnt start at any other school in the area. Hell, if there wasnt a generational talent ahead of them they would probably start anyway! Both run very hard and are fast. Moeller D is the best in the state and came up big twice. If Mason scores on either of the blocked punts that is a different game. Ginnetti should be recruited more heavily as he was all over the field. 106 tackles in a year is no fluke regardless of level of football. They will not win State with special teams like they displayed last night. Refs missed an obvious Face-mask on Mason first drive. Marshall's first TD, while it was a phenominal run, should have been called back for a hold on the edge. That same player got called twice for holding later in the game. Hats off to Mason. Coming from behind against Colerain and Springboro shows they have no quit in them. Lakota West will be able to load the box and play press against Moe receivers. There offense will also present schematical challenges to Moe D. Excited to see the end result. As usual, tremendous high school football being displayed in southwest ohio.

Well, first of all, as a Mason fan, there’s no place for any Coach to behave like Castner did. Regardless of what was said during handshakes, you smile, offer congratulations, and then return to your team. The Mason AD needs to address this.

At the same time, I don’t understand what Coach Elder meant when he stated, "We subbed and I thought that when we subbed they might call off the dogs from trying to score late to make it look prettier than it was," Moeller coach Mark Elder said.

What did he expect? It’s the 3rd round of the playoffs - Mason’s never gotten this far before. Did Elder expect them to to just lie down, and not play to the end?

Didn't see what transpired or didn't want to see? Your coach acted totally out of character. Went after the Moeller HC. Totally unacceptable behavior. The guy is a hot head and apparently doesn't set a good example for his team. I can understand being frustrated, I can't tolerate being a jackass in front of a viewing audience. The whole after game shenanigans was seen live on the Spectrum feed. The Mason head coach had to be restrained multiple times. What a tool! GBM 💪 🏈

Lots to unpack here- several missed calls both ways, including a horse collar that stopped a drive and injured a Moeller player. You did realize this was a back up and freshman QB for a good chunk of the game? Ginetti is happily committed to Air Force- Moeller has been a great pipeline to the academies and this year is no exception! It definitely was a head scratcher of a decision to ease up and it was obvious to anyone there that is what happened. Felt badly for the Mason players- between coaches behavior and their “fans” (Moeller outnumbered them big time) leaving in droves before they scored their first points- it was kind of sad.

I wouldn’t exactly say they were tougher than expected against the run. Not unless your expectations are not very high. Marshall almost had 100 yards in less than a quarter of action. He averaged over 8 yards a carry and rb3 had over 6 yards a carry. Also, the second running back didn’t play last night. You saw mostly rb3 and rb4. You may have meant Moeller being tougher than expected. Mason had 35 rushing attempts for 18 yards. Moeller took their foot off the gas and went cruise control after the first.

Confused as to what horse collar you are referring to? Watched the whole game and am an unbiased fan. Watched alot of football and this Moeller freshman will be better than Clifford if he chooses to keep playing and does not focus on Baseball. Pure arm talent, great frame, looked poised from the start. There is no doubt he is the best QB on the roster. Huge fan of Ginnetti and only meant that he is overlooked for whatever reason. IMO a Power 5 LB. Truly appreciative of his decision to serve his country and keep playing and he will no doubt have success. The play calling from Moeller did not indicate "easing up". Time after time they dialled up exactly what was needed and put themselves in great positions to score, this included throwing deep ball after deep ball. If you are averaging 6yds a carry and truly want to ease up, shove it down their throat and end the game faster with the clock winding. The score could have easily been 35-0 if they catch one post that hits the receiver in the head and a lineman does not go 10yds down field to block on a TD. Those averages are over inflated from chunk plays that had no effect on the end result of the drive. Classic bend-but-dont-break defense. Moeller fell asleep at the wheel. Poor special teams shows this. Lack of attention to details. Big difference between that and "easing up"

Prediction for next week - Moeller by 13 atleast. J Marsh goes for +150 and 3 TD's

👀 The QB switch—a great call and I hope it’s not too late this year. Frosh is unreal. He is a very mature and smart kid. Hope he plays both baseball and football.
Where are you Traditon? You knew this was there, along with a few others. 😉

I know a few Moe coaches, and have heard about our Frosh QB all year. He played very little due to injury on the lower levels. I was aware he had been practicing with the varsity for the last month. Had no idea he was going to play last night. My first reaction was, WOW. Poised, quick release, throws darts. Most importantly he looked physically mature for a 15 year old frosh. Coach Elder has a tough decision on his hand this week. Frosh is the best QB in the program right now, but this is week 14, and do you go ahead and start him, or go with Dunn and have a short leash? Moeller ability to run the ball Friday, would take a lot off our QB's (especially Frosh) and greatly increase Moe chances to win the game.
