Tournament Regulations
1.2 The Football Administrator will select the sites for all other regional and the state semifinal games.
The site of all tournament games will be based upon the best site available based on TOTAL travel and the accommodations of the site.
It is NOT our intention to have schools travel the same distance to sites.
Regional Final and State semifinal sites will be based entirely on the accommodations of the site.

The Division 1, Region 1 final will be in either Brunswick or Byers Field.

For Division 2, Region 5: Solon, Twinsburg, Ravenna or Aurora.

Division 3, Region 9: Likely one of Ravenna, Aurora, or Niles.

Division 3. Region 10: Holy Name/Padua could be at Byers Field or Strongsville IMO. If Holy Name/Norton, Strongsville or Medina could be a potential site. Possibly Ashland or Medina if Mansfield Senior makes the regional final.

Division 5, Region 17 will be in either Niles or Boardman IMO.
 
D1 Region 4 will be at Mason (assuming Mason does not beat Moeller tonight) if they do just switch D1 and D2
D2 Region 8, kinda depends on who wins but I will say Lakota East or West
D3 Region 12, really depends on who wins, but I will say Badin and Western Brown and game at Princeton

R1: Mentor-St. Ed; logic dictates this goes to Euclid, so naturally, it will be at Byers.
R2: O Liberty-Springfield: Bowlus Field in London, guaranteed
R3: New Albany-Gahanna: DeSales Stadium
R4: Lakota West-Moeller: Mason, again guaranteed

R5: Hudson-Hoban: InfoCision, if they want to bid. If not, Stow? Nordonia?
R6: Toledo CC-Avon: Strobel Field or Perkins
R7: Lake-Massillon: Benson. (or Green)
R8: Anderson-Kings: Princeton. (or Sycamore)

R9: Canfield-Chardon: Boardman!!! (Kidding; this will either be at Ravenna or Niles; one site gets this game, the other gets Perry-SR)

Well said. Any reason they couldn't play R1 and R10 finals both at Byers, one on Friday, one on Saturday?
 
Not so sure Moeller vs Lakota West will be played at Mason after what happened tonight. The Moeller Head Coach and Mason Head Coach got into it after the game. If I am the Mason Head Coach I would do everything in my power to void Moeller coming to my homefield and playing next week. It will be an interesting story to follow. It would not surprise me if this games ends up at Princeton or Hamilton. It got pretty heated and obviously there is a lot of tension between the two head coaches.

the coaches don’t have any say in who plays where. the coaches don’t own the stadium. i doubt the Mason AD would turn down the crowd that game would bring over some petty incident between 2 coaches a week ago.
 
By the way some of the sites speculated above as Neutral Sites won't be available as some did not apply to host next week for one reason or another. Remember Girls Basketball starts next week and a school will not apply to host a site if they have to bump and move one of the games they have scheduled in Basketball. I love the speculation but let the OHSAA figure out the sites. Remember schools have to apply to host, you just cannot say to a school you are hosting.
One way to correct this is let the high seed host through the Regional Finals and bid for the 14 games to host the state Semis.
 
Are teams able to play at the same site twice, other than the first 2 home games? Seems that used to be an OHSAA playoff rule.

If you're an AD and your site has often hosted late-round playoff football in the past, especially in the higher divisions that can bring about concession and parking revenue, wouldn't you bump an early-season basketball game for the benefits that could come from hosting? Because I know I would. And to the post above this one, teams playing at the same postseason site twice has happened numerous times.
 
What's the feel for the attendance for Holy Name-Padua, with Byers the 'logical' choice thanks to proximity. Does this game warrant the 11K capacity of Byers, or something smaller like Brunswick (7K) or Strongsville (5K)?

How much surplus capacity should be accounted for when selecting sites from those available?

"Since our fanbase travels well, we think our team will bring 8,000, the other team will bring 3,000, so we should be assigned to a 30,000 seat stadium just in case."

Was somewhat simpler in the days of non-electronic tickets, where a finite allocation could be made to each school and if the stadium filled, it filled.

i used to live in Parma Heights for a few years. made it to a few HS games back in the day. i think this game brings in between 6-8k. when 2 teams from the same city play this far into the playoffs, you will get a lot more “common fans” who aren’t connected to the program but want to see the game.
