I have a feeling that “problem” will continue unfortunately. Not that I’m in the know but I just have no faith in us getting away from that. Very frustrating to watch time and time again.
It’s the absolute worst part of this offense and unfortunately I believe you are right. I can see it continuing this season as well, my HOPE is that Coach Wood will at least be a different set of eyes that will say hey look at the guy in the slot open on a quick out.

Right. It’s football. Let the kids be football players.
I think we all could post on here the kids that should have been playing both ways or at least some plays on O or D over the last 20-30 seasons. I think it used to be so much parental involvement like when Hall was here that he didn’t want to upset anyone so there would be 3-4 kids at anytime that probably shouldn’t have been on the field at all. I think that has progressed to worrying about kids getting hurt which is just a part of the game and yes we have watched RB after RB go down with injuries the last 5-6 seasons but those were football plays and not a situation like a QB running etc.
Put the best players on the field at all times and like you said let them play football.
Sperling the RB at Hoban is 5’10 180# and had 386 carries last year, they sure were not worried about him getting hurt.

Yep, seems like every other school regardless of division let’s their best players play the game without restrictions. We can all think of countless examples of teams who let their QBs play defense, run the ball, etc. yet we’re over here not even wanting the receivers to get tackled. lol No wonder we can’t get over the hump

Facts !
I would rather see a naked boot on 3rd and 4 then 3 WR’s running go routes and the ball getting thrown 50 yds downfield. I would certainly hope that having Coach Wood on staff will correct this “problem” we have had going on about 5 years now.
Don’t you think Coach Moore will have final say over any staff that is brought in?

The other sophomore Qb did a great job last year too. I hope he gets in the mix. Big Mike, Hartson, and Lewis, in any combination, with a runnin quarterback,,,,somethin scary is gonna happen!

I didn’t say Slaughter can’t run. I just want to protect him. I think he’s going to take a BIG step this year. We have a lot of serious talent and I think he’s going to get the ball out quick and to a lot of different talented skill players.

I get that wanting to protect him. And I hope you’re right that we get the ball to our playmakers because we have a bunch of them.

Have this on a 33 1/3 Album. Also have a vhs of this game. Havenot watched it in years. It switches back and forth between Caples and the guy from WHBC, the one before JJ. Can't think of his name.

Massillon – This proclaimed scholastic football capital of the United States has added another full-blooded Tiger to its lair.

“I’m a Tiger now!” exclaimed a shell-shocked Chuck Shuff when the first-season Massillon Washington coach finally wormed his way into his office – some 30 minutes after his Tigers (6-4), unbelievable 20-15 conquest of arch-rival Canton McKinley (9-1) before a Tiger Stadium throng of 21,754 football fanatics Saturday afternoon.

The storybook finish is unparalleled .

“I JUST COULDN’T believe it when I saw Eddie Bell in the open,” Shuff said of the 34-yard pass the 5-foot-10, 154-pound senior split end caught (in the end zone) from classmate Greg Wood. It came as the Tigers merely were driving for field position to give placekicker Dave Dowd a shot at a field goal attempt.

“I don’t think we could call for another ounce of energy out of any of our boys,” Shuff said of the physically drained coaches and players.

“We stopped their running game as far as the big play and that type of defensive effort took a lot of noise,” he said.

The McKinley loss assured Behling’s 9-0-1 Quakers a berth vs. Upper Arlington in this week-end’s Ohio Class AAA playoff semifinals.

“I thought it was all over,” Behling said of the Hontas field goal, “but that’s the Tiger spirit.”

“Never any worry,” former Massillon and Kent State University coach Leo Strang told Shuff, but it was Strang who appeared worried at half time. He’s the guy who had his fingers crossed as he wandered through the stands to say hello to his Tigertown friends. – : – “IT’S THE GREATEST victory I’ve ever been in,” shouted long-time Tiger aide Nick Vrotsos before he and his fellow coaches took what each proclaimed as “the best one (shower) I’ve ever had” when the players escorted their coaches to the drink.

“Hey guys, we don’t have to walk the alleys. We can walk the streets,” Vrotsos shouted to his fellow coaches from the showers.

One-time McKinley standout L.C. Young, the Massillon superintendent of schools, embraced Shuff and said, “Just keep it going.”

“Something good had to happen,” Young said. “We lost the levy (Tuesday) and these boys and coaches just went through hell.” – : – AMONG THOSE who probably were in the rocker room were two former Massillon players – Phil Garcia and Nick Pribich – who Friday sent Behling and the Quakers a telegram and assured them: “If you beat Dover (New Philly did, 7-0), we’ll do our part tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon and come Monday you’ll be No. 1.”

AND that’s the main reason Behling left the office he once worked in proud as a peacock – and with the Massillon-Upper Arlington game film in his grasp.

My dad played on this team. Really cool to read old stuff like this

A few things here

Anyone who attended any of the 7/7s see where Ta'Shaun played? (If he played at all) 6'2" 180 is a nice size, hopefully he is in coach Moore's plans.

I see Landen Petaros is on the maxpreps roster but not on the MTBC roster. I know someone earlier said they thought he was going to play this year.

Also on the Maxpreps roster it says Chase Bond is 245 but on the MTBC roster he's listed at 210, anyone know which is more accurate?

I see where Deivieon (sp) Harper decided to play FB this year, at 6'1" I wonder if he could contribute at corner.

With coach Wood having a say in the O, it would be nice if....on occasion....we used a TE. We have several TE type bodies on the roster.
