Gwoc

Can we all just agree that Springfield was the best 2-loss team in the GWOC? Might as well be able to put that issue to rest once and for all ... no need to argue about it ...
No we can't. Here's the problem. Springfield has the regional championship trophy and both the league and the State have said we have the best quarterback and defensive back in the league. Springfield is the best in the GWOC period for the 2d consecutive year. 3-peat is otw.

Not really- springfields own coaches would tell you rice was the best... but congrats to all these players. On to the college level now.
The GWOC and the state of Ohio officially said Smoot is the best qb in the league. That's certified. And before college, we have a 3-peat otw, which may include the state championship. But 2d place for Northmont isn't bad. I would think you'd be used to that.

Don't jinx the Wildcats. That's all we need. Go Wildcats!

Just imagine SHS winning the state championship and Mr Football! That will kill all these haters from Northmont. And, I think Centerville would cry. Wayne will go into cardiac arrest.
Relax! Be thankful the Cats have been a good team the last 2 years. Let's see how next season goes first.

Speaking of Springfield, does anyone know who they play Weeks 1 and 2 next year? Fairfield just posted an opening on the OHSAA Open Dates page for Week 2, so it seems like the game on Arbiter will be cancelled.

And yet the scoreboard tells a different story ;-) ...

Come to think of it, I've been to two Springfield games with you personally and have never seen the Wildcats win one! Are you sure we're talking about the same team? Is it that Blue and Gold team we keep watching lose?

btw, this is too fun!

GO BOLTS!!! 2020 GWOC Champs!

Is there any reason to think Northmont wouldn’t have likely come out on top in Round two....and congrats

Rematch would have been a toss-up ... Springfield was a really good team and it isn't easy to beat a team that good twice in one season

Actually we finished in 1st place douche. Just a little insider info for ya...St X coach, the team u lost to and who won the state title, Speck I believe but not sure about spelling?? Told a certain northmont head coach after scouting them... paraphrasing here- "hell you guys could beat anyone in ohio with that qb". He didn't say that about swingfields QB. Who they handed 6 turnovers and still beat 12-10. BTW, Broering will be coaching the south squad in the north-south ohio all star game in Massillon in April. And rice will be the starting qb. And speck will be the D coordinator

where did you hear this?

where did you hear this?
Nowhere because the game is cancelled.Rice will probably be named to the team with him being a sr. I wouldnt be surprised by that he was a stud. But this is straight from the coaches association page

Secondly the board did make the decision to cancel the 2021 North/South games based on many different factors that the North/South committee saw as hurdles to the game being played. We will be honoring the players selected in some fashion. North/South Coaches will be selecting the teams.
Being a member of the OHSFCA allows us to be able to do many great things:

are you 2 years old? X blew out PC in State final - Springfield lost to X by 2 and should have won, Northmont beat the Springfield, Elks lost to the Springfield in OT, Wayne lost 2 close games to Springfield. The GWOC had 4 teams that could be anyone in the state on a given day.

fairmont had 4 turnovers including a muffed punt for a touchdown and lost by 6 @ Springfield

Fairmont held a 14-0 lead over centerville lost 21-20(had 4 turnovers)

fairmont had 3 turnovers against Wayne @ Wayne
Lost by 7 , threw an interception on 4th and goal with 20 seconds remaining

lost 20-7 to northmont
Was 7-0 at halftime (northmont scores on Hail Mary in last play of first half)

Fairmont beat springboro
Who went toe to toe with Coffman

That was your 5th team in the conference
The gwoc is a top 3 confernce

.Coffman played their worst game of the year on defense giving up a few LOOONNG plays { kids running into each other twice on long TD passes{ One was an simple out that went for 60 and a TD } but gained almost 600 yards on offense ending the game up only 10 deep in their territory{ kneeling} but could have scored again and scored anytime they wanted to all night so the defense unfortunately played soft [ A lot of the Same kids held Springfield to 7 points the year before. Toe to toe doesn't usually mean giving up 460 yards rushing and they were up three scores { 17}for a majority of the night after getting down a TD } Coffman beat Springboro worse than Northmont did certainly who needed a hail mary to win and didn't put up what Coffman did on them . GWOC was very good this year, year in and year out the last 10-15 years it hasn't been dominant top to bottom . Strength in good public school s leagues is cyclical . One year the GWOC can be among the best, other years it slips back a bit . Wayne was a clear top dog for a bit and the others weren't doing a lot in the play-offs. I do remember C-Ville beating Wayne in 2014 in a rain storm where Wayne turned it over about 100 times . There was some parity but Springfield game in and game out was the best team even losing to Northmont . Springboro probably should have beaten Northmont for instance. Really solid league no doubt. All due respect. Springfield is the new Wayne , and Wayne is the new Springfield of say 4-5 years ago . Still good some really good talent , but not what they were { Coaching issues , administration , lack of consistency ,{ more mistakes , penalties etc. has dropped them down a peg}

Yes PC got crushed by ST X, THIS YEAR , other years they played right with them or beat them . I think many here are using this year to paint the GWOC as being a dominant conference top to bottom as a rule , year in and year out . It hasn't been . If you think Springfield beats PC by 30 + or that one result = GWOC way better than CO teams . Just stop . Compara tive scores aren't the way to judge teams. In game dynamics are different, match-ups are different , mindsets are different week to week . Go back over the last decade and it will show some really good years and some average ones overall with Wayne being pretty dominant and like many leagues a collection of good to average or less teams.
