Metro Athletic Conference 2021 Breakdown

Conference still goes through Streetsboro. Ravenna QB and skill back. Cloverleaf has turned around their program. Coventry was much improved. Woodridge has a lot back, especially up front, Nortonś program is solid, Field must replace a lot, and Springfield is Springfield.

I disagree with some of this. Since when has Norton's program been solid? Coventry improved? They went 4-6....

In 2018, Norton finished in a three-way tie with Ravenna and Woodridge for the then-PTC Metro Division championship. However, despite two of the teams going 8-2, neither made the playoffs (Region 9 is TOUGH!) They also finished a solid 5-5 in 2019, and had Tyler Scott who is currently playing at University of Cincinnati.

Here are my predictions:

1. Streetsboro (The Metro still runs through the Rockets. Their QB Maysun Klimak is gonna be a four-year starter, and they still have some solid talent, even despite losing a really good senior class)
2. Cloverleaf (They had an outstanding year last season, going 7-2 and their only league loss was to Streetsboro.) Can see them having enough Harbins to make it to postseason play.
3. Ravenna (Hopefully the Ravens can bounce back this season. Prior to 2020, they had finished .500 seven straight seasons, but haven't made the playoffs since 2012. Even a couple of 8-2 years (2018, 2019) didn't cut it in Region 9. Now with the playoff expansion at 12, the Ravens have a shot)
4. Field (They had a great season last year after being a bottom-feeder for a long time. They finished 4-2, and probably would have won a playoff game (or two) if a positive COVID test found the morning of their playoff game didn't halt their season. Can see them making the playoffs in Region 13.
5. Norton
6. Woodridge
7. Akron Coventry
8. Akron Springfield (Akron Springfield will win a couple of non-conference games, but they won't win a game in-conference)

Need to keep an eye on Coventry and Woodridge
Both return players, particularly Woodridge who has 4 good classes coming up, especially the senior class.

Cloverleaf has an underclassman who is a really good athlete, and Ravennaś rec. is a 6´2¨ or 6´3¨ split end who was a big target for the Ravens.

Who would be Mogadore Field's biggest rival in the MAC. Really doubt it would compare to Mogadore, Rootstown or Southeast. Even before Mantua Crestwood left they were a bigger rival than any MAC school currently. Really don't see HUGE crowds at vs Lodi Cloverleaf, Norton, Coventry, Woodridge for that matter even Ravenna. Maybe Springfield but really bigger gates for the local Portage county schools...no question.

Field has a big rivalry with Springfield. Springfield with Coventry, Field, and Ellet (the shoe). Coventry with Springfield and Norton. Coventry and Springfield played for “the trophy”? last year. Coventry-Springfield rivalry dates back to 1929. Same with Norton starting in 1929. They play for the victory bell ?

Coventry returns 15 starters from last year. Their biggest loss was losing all district second team power running back Brendan Longwell. Senior Daequan Dudley (RB) will be expected to do that job this year...take over at running back. Trevoun Bulls saw time last year at running the ball as well. He doubles on offense/defense and is a speedster on special teams. Coventry returns their sophomore quarterback Chase Rankin and two All-Mac second team wide receivers Chris Wilcox and Brady Watson so their passing game will be a real threat. Anchoring the offensive line is returning center Cole Moyers also all MAC second team honors last year. They were all sophomores last year and will be around for another two years. On defense Coventry returns last years starters Zareus Sustanek and Rhett Evans at defensive end and Steven Davis, Brayden Clark, and Matthew Skaggs at defensive back.

Im looking forward to seeing how some of those faces perform this track season. Maan, its been some time since I seen coventry light up the track. We coulda had 2 state champions last year, but we was robbed.

Coventry, Streetsboro, and Woodridge return a number of starters; and Ravenna returns really good skill. Cloverleaf has some numbers. Norton is a wildcard while Field will have to replace some of their lineman, a QB and a back. It is setting up to be a great year.

And Springfield..well they continue to struggle and with the district's financial struggles it can unfortunately only get worse..

Springfield will struggle to field a team. They were down to 20 last year. Why leave Moggy for Springfield? They do have a good QB and rec. back I think
and thatś it!
