Actually. It appears Beavercreek has taken the West #2 slot instead of West #1.

So if they make it to State they will likely play St Ignatius and be on the opposite side of Moeller. Interesting strategy from the Beavers.

Must've missed that. Dumb strategy in my opinion. You have the chance to "walk" into the semi's and then play Moeller, but you choose to play the only threat the North has to offer followed by one of X, Elder, or Darby. Not sure Beavercreek gets by Ignatius unless Mikesch is near 100% healed.

It appears Beavercreek has played all 3 of X, Elder, and Moe. Lost to Moe in 4, X in 3, and Elder in 3. So maybe they think they match up best with Moeller... Have to get there first though

wow, that Kettering Fairmont/Lakota East match must have been something. Anybody know anything about Kettering? Never seen much of a mention of them on here, but I did see they beat Northmont earlier in the year as well.

Fairmont is a bit of an enigma.

I saw them play - they are pretty big overall, I'd say averaging 6'2 for front row players. They also can pound.

However, when I saw them two things stood out:

1- Ball control was weak-ish (especially serve receive)
2- Lazy play, especially on defense. (easy to fix)

I could see them getting motivated for a big match and playing much more aggressive defense, and perhaps they've improved their SR as well. That would make them a pretty solid team, and obviously they played well last night so maybe thats what happened.

It seems they play to the level of their competition quite a bit, just from looking at scores and results.

EDIT - Also interesting that Hossford (who was kind of their go-to) wasn't listed among their kill leaders from the LE match. When I saw them play, he definitely was the most physically gifted player they had, but he was the one who coasted and played lazy the most... so maybe the team rallied without him playing well or something.

EDIT #2 - Just saw on twitter that Lakota East's setter, Trent Kuhlman, wasn't playing for some reason. That clears things up a bit as I think LE wins with Kuhlman in there.

Hosford tore his meniscus five matches ago. my guess is this team has been trying to find their identity without him. Yesterday's match was definitely a hot and cold match for both teams as they would both go on big runs, only to have the other come storming back. Fairmont almost blew a 14-7 lead in the fifth set. East down their setter is a tough loss to come by. both teams left it all on the floor. The lefty's on both teams were the big hitters of the night. Fun match to watch.

Loveland over Walnut
18-25, 25-17, 25-14, 25-17

Loveland is a pretty solid team. Big and physical, probably one of the better public school teams in the South region over the past few years. Setter, both Middles and one outside are all 6'2-6'5. Setter is going to play at Thomas More College next year. They played Moeller somewhat tough earlier in the season as well - should they get through Oak Hills (which they should) - gives them a fun rematch and this time on a neutral court.

Loveland over OH in 4 would be my guess, OH just doesn't have the firepower this year and they rely on Boehringer in the middle a lot, but Loveland has the size/blocking to slow him down. OH might steal a game, but I don't see them winning the match.

Milford is solid, but I don't think they can hang with Elder's Outside Hitters at all, should be over in 3.

St. X crushed Mason earlier in the year - don't expect that to be any different.

Moeller should cruise past Fairfield in 3 as well.
