Art Garfunkel once summed up the meaning of Sound of Silence as "the inability of people to communicate with each other."

Based on that interpretation, I'm thinking it's the perfect Yappi theme song.

A couple others I forgot>

Patti Smith started off her debut record with this prolifically covered tune>

Neil Diamond was a great songwriter and some of his best work was covered by others>

[QUOTE=gneiss rocks;7297885]Lots of great stuff, some I didn't realize were remakes... (hey joe) and I swear I didn't just cry listing to Whitney.

^ Understandable. Now to offset that one, here's an upbeat tune that popped into my head recently.

The original Putting on the Ritz from an old movie, which some of you may remember.

Fred Astaire's version with both (better quality) song and dance.

Taco with the most recent remake as far as I know and the best:

One of my favorite remakes is the Clash's "I Fought the Law."

Whitney Houston covered it.

Whitney Houston was vocally something that was once in a lifetime.

She sang this song 10x better than Dolly did (who is a good singer in her own right).

The absolute best vocal I may have ever seen live was Whitney and Mariah duet of "When You Believe" at the Academy Awards.

Not sure why this video is in 4s rather than the whole screen, but I couldn't find another version on youtube quickly.

In 1990, Ministry side project, 1000 Homo DJ's, got some play with their cover of Black Sabbath's "Supernaut" (1972):
