Is this for changes going into this season or next? Only reason I ask is because B.J. took over in the spring, so not really a new change.

I've heard Ayers is a big name out there. Plus the Amelia coach is a retire re-hire and I can't see them going with him.

Lancaster Fisher Cath. is open

Coach Mike Yonnotti has announced today that he is retiring. Yonnotti's record at FC was 7-13, but it is important to remember that Coach Yonnotti led the Irish to their first winning season since 2006 last season, with a mark of 6-4. The 2015 squad was undoubtedly one of the most competitive and well prepared Irish teams to come through in recent memory. As many in Lancaster expected, this year was going to be a down year due to a lack of talent combined with a bevy of inexperience. I think I speak for many when I say we will miss Coach Yonnotti; we're appreciative of him taking the job two years ago and for instilling many of the virtues and characteristics necessary to be good young men on the field and in our community.

...as for who the next coach will be, it remains to be seen. Would FC consider rehiring former coach Tony Hurps? Would any of the alumni that are in coaching consider applying?

Thoughts?

I agree 100%. Luke is a great guy who should be first in consideration for the job. He's an alum who has provided a ton of longevity as an assistant through four different coaching regimes. While it may be tough to assemble a full coaching staff (or anything close to that) at a school as small as FC, I think Luke could get some people to come on board and as head coach he can continue to be a rock for the program.

The question is: does he want the job?

If not Luke, two good candidates (both alumni) could be Andrew Maynard (former assistant at Newark Catholic, currently teaching at FC) or Tom Blodgett (sp?; former assistant at FC, former assistant at Millersport during the turnaround year of 2014, current assistant at Logan Elm I believe.)

Might be a stretch, but if Luke doesn't take the job then maybe possible applicants, although they probably wouldn't leave their current head coaching jobs, could be Jon Tobin (Purcell Marian) and Chad Mickey (Crooksville). Admittedly, this may be a specious statement, but they are both alumni of FC footballs

Nicest things I've ever read about a coach who resigned after going 1-9. A tribute to him or perhaps to the people making the comments.

John Tobin would be someone I would contact if I were them. He's a FC alum, played at the University of Cincinnati, and has been the HC at Purcell Marian the past 2 seasons. His overall record isn't great but he's won more games in his 2 seasons than other PM team in a 2-year span in over a decade and he's been very competitive against the GCL co-eds.

I remember him, he was a great player.

It seems like they have several potential routes to go. I'd like to see it offered to Thimmes first, but if he's offered it and declines it then they can probably look to other alumni or post the job publicly.

Hoping they hire the best candidate for FC that can help restore success to a program that used to be very strong!

Ayers and Brausch are supposed to both interview for WC. However, I don't forsee them going with either. Who would be potential candidates in Cincy for the WC job? Any up and coming young coaches?

I have heard the rumor of MSJU Head Coach Rod Huber is interested. I guess we shall see what direction WC goes with.

PM has opened up; if Tobin were to want the FC job the question would be if a) he's a likey hire and b) if it's a good move for him.
