Canton McKinley@ Perry Panthers

The big fed showdown between the state D1 ranked undefeated Bulldogs and twice state D2 runners up. Pups go for outright league title, and Perry goes for a share.

Two weeks ago vs Jackson, Pups were tougher and in better condition than their opponent.

Yesterday the Pups were more talented than the determined GO team whose offense made some key mistakes down down the stretch.

Perry is tough, disciplined and won't beat themselves. This will be the Pups toughest game of the year. If they have the penalties they had vs Jax or the turnovers they had against GO, McK will lose.

Looking forward to this one!

Perry has won the last three games in the series and McK will be hungry to win this one in addition to keeping the season perfect for week 10.

Perry needs this one to keep the FLC alive along with playoff hopes.

Should be a recipe for a great game

This time of year when lots of kids are nicked and bruised, Perry probably got to rest some kids in the running clock vs Lake. Conversely, McK kids had to play their starters the whole game.

Also - McK starting center left the game with a leg injury and did not return.

A couple weeks ago, Wakefield said he was moving some kids around, particularly in reference to the pass defense. If (and that's a big if, since it hasn't been tested since week 4) that has borne fruit, then I like Perry in the upset. Curtis is good but I don't see him replicating what Pallotta did did to the Panthers.

The Bulldog RBs are banged up -- even if you get them back they're probably not going to be 100%, and this is the toughest run defense they'll see all year. Just 109 yds against G.O. But the absolute #1 thing McKinley cannot do is continue to have 100+ yds of penalties. Enough with the hits out of bounds, that's the easiest thing in the world to avoid. You know they're going to be watching for a feather's touch, so just don't do it. Perry has largely stopped committing their penalties.

Pick'em game. Somebody by 6! Rooting for the Panthers to keep the Fed race alive.

In all games, especially big ones, it’s the fundamentals. Watch the turnovers, penalties, good tackling, controlling the lines of scrimmage, not giving up big momentum plays and sound, mistake free special teams. You do all that and you win.

Mckinley has nothing to worry about. They have clinched at least a share of the league title and are as good as in the playoffs. They need to focus on beating the Tigers next week. Even WHBC discussed the Massillon rivalry, today. If I were the Mckinley coaches I would say, "heck with the Panthers. They got drilled by Jackson and we drilled Jackson. Perry is way too slow to worry about. It's all about the Tigers!"

Perry could be playing as good as anyone in the County right now. They matchup better with McKinley than Jackson did (just like I think Jackson matched up better vs Perry).

McKinley is a favorite but they haven't run through the FED like some thought. Hoover was right there with them for 48 minutes. GlenOak goes down 24-7 but never gave up. Jackson was closer than many are giving credit for 4 point game with 8-9 minutes left is not getting drilled. One more thing about Perry I saw a Perry team getting blitzed by 3 td's by Stow (when they weren't even good), held to 70-ish yds at home by Hoover in a 17-0 loss that was only that close because Hoover's QB left with an injury late in the first half. That team turned around a month later and beat a damn good Lake team and then kicked a 10-0 Massillon team in the teeth and shut McKinley out in the playoffs. What I am saying is Wakefield coached that team and it didn't matter what happened in week 1 or 5 because he had them ready when it counted. He did it then and he has done it more than a few times in his career. Frankly I would be far more worried about Perry than Massillon. I could be wrong but Perry is peaking right now as well as they need to win this game to even have a chance at getting to week 11. Massillon and McKinley are both in and frankly I think McKinley is more likely to have a shootout type of (think Hoover/McKinley) game. I see Perry/McKinley as a game where the first to 20 points wins.

Already putting up the excuses. I'll take Perry in this one.

Most ridiculous post so far. Perry is the only focus this week. Perry has 3 straight wins vs McKinley, have been to two straight state finals, are very well coached, have excellent personnel, and have the home field advantage.

Perry will be a very tough test for the undefeated D1 state ranked Bulldogs.

Nonsense! Just because McKinley is "as good as in the playoffs," there's a big difference between hosting a first round game against Euclid, Stow, or Jackson and traveling to St. Edward, St. Ignatius, or Mentor for a first round game.

Two big games lie ahead for McKinley. Perry is first....that is the priority.

Oh is that all? LOL

Pups haven't done all that in one game for a long time.

McK didn't need their best game to beat Jax or GO, but they will need a complete effort against Perry.

Last 5 years

2012 - McKinley 49-14
2013 - McKinley 43-21
2014 - Perry 24-21
2015 - Perry 41-0
2016 - Perry 7-6

To hold the Bulldogs to 6 points in two seasons is amazing. Don't think that's happening this season

Perry offense definitely playing better than Pup offense the last couple weeks. Of course that was against Green and Lake so maybe a bit misleading.

Those were the first two years of Coach Reardon's process of building the new McKinley program. It was a three year endeavor, and this year is really the first upper-class team he's had. McKinley has come a long way from the butt-punts in'15 to the undefeated #4 ranked D1 football team of today.

McKinley is a much better team on both sides of the ball this year than last year, but they have to play smart to win. They can't be jumping offsides on D that keep Perry drives alive.

Wow didn't even think of that but you are right, Perry needs this one to secure a playoff spot. Without a win this week they'll need A LOT of help to be playing week 11. Crazy.

I'm not one of the people tout the Federal League as the greatest conference in Ohio, but it is interesting to note that usually the league champions qualify for the playoffs, even if it's a shared title.

Perry still has to go through a dangerous GlenOak team after this crazy week.

Nothing like the season heating up at the end like this!
