NCAA Seeds Released

It's that time of year when ranking gives way to seeds, as the NCAA seeds came out today. The rankers still did their thing this week, and the tOSU vs PSU rivalry flipped again as the Buckeyes now lead PSU 120.5 to 114. The team rankers were split, with TOM and Flo going with PSU and IM and TW going with tOSU. But the only reason to follow the rankings are that they give you a sense of how the seeds might play out.
Enough with the rankers.
Seeds are out.

Here's how the seeds played out for tOSU and PSU:

NCAA Seeds tOSU
125 #2
133 #3
141 #4
149 #5
157 #7
165 #13
174 #6
184 #2
197 #1
285 #1
Projected Total Points (w/o bonus) 125

NCAA Seeds PSU
125 DNQ
133 NS
141 #8
149 #1
157 #3
165 #3
174 #2
184 #1
197 #5
285 #3
Projected Total Points (w/o bonus) 112

PSU has a perceived bonus advantage. That advantage was 4.5 in the B10s. A similar spread in the NCAAs keeps this tournament as one that will go down to the wire.

I see quite a few weights where OSU can do better than seed. This will be one for the ages!

157 #3 Nolf vs #6 Kemerer in 1/4s (Wow)

I think the seeding committee made a statement that MFFs count.

In some places that appears to be the case but in others, not so much. I'd call it more of a mixed bag. I thought they'd put Nolf #3 and Kemmerer #4.

141 McKenna is top half away from Heil, Yianni, and Eieman. He'll still ahve to navigate Jack and Meredith to get to the finals - no easy taks. But it's not supposed to be easy here.

125 NaTo has Lee in the semis. I was hoping that would be a finals match.

Agree. And Mark Hall doesn't want to see BoJo in the semis. They've had three razor thin matches. And if whoever comes out od the Nolf Kemerer battle may struggle with Micah if not 100% healthy. Micah could find himself in the finals.

I'd rather have Lee than Suriano (if he's 100%) or Cruz on the same half of the bracket. IMO, Tomasello has the easiest quarter of the 4 as well. Cruz could have Lizak, who could be dangerous depending on which Lizak shows up. In round 2, Suriano has former National Runner-Up Moisey, who just defeated LeMont (Tomasello's likely quarter opponent) at the Big 12 Tournament. Lee has Piccininni in the quarters, who finished 4th here last year. This is an AWESOME weight class!

Yes, this is the real March Madness!
Looking forward to a road trip with family and friends to Cleveland!
Heard there might be an interesting finals match at 285... and the team title could be on the line... no one is leaving early!

I don't see Micah getting by Lavallee, I hope I'm wrong but other than the Kemerer match Micah usually doesn't knock off the big guns. Shields was a good win but he's not on Lavallee's level. It's tough to win in the NCAA tourney when you're automatically at a disadvantage in 2 of the 3 positions (top and bottom). I think his draw is pretty rough to get higher than 7th, if he loses to Lavallee he most likely has to beat the loser of Nolf and Kemerer to get top 6.

Lavellee has 2 wins over 2 guys in the top #20 and Micah has 5 wins over guys in the top #20. Lavellee has wrestled 3 guys ranked in the top 20 and is 1-2 against them. Micah has wrestled 10 guys in the top 20 and is 5-5.

I'm not saying he will win but his schedule has certainly help prepare him to wrestle the big guns.

If I'm not mistaken Micah beat a big gun last weekend.

BigBulldog is an unknown quantity at this point
I think Tomasello,Moore, and Snyder all need to win it for Ohio State to win it.

Or maybe 2 out of the 3 to win it.

GO BUCKEYES!!
