Even though some are still bitter...I say Turpin

To make the answer to this question real complicated.

Trotwood Madison would have to be one of the toughest opponents that Edgewood faced...BUT that was early in the season when Edgewood had not come together as a team and the O-line always needs a few weeks to gell. Edgewood has a tough time facing teams that pass a lot too and again this was week two and they were not prepared for that kind of offense or defense.

On the other hand Turpin didn't play us real tough defensively but had one he11 of a QB and WRs. I still don't know why we didn't play the 3-3-5 against Turpin like we did against Trotwood (the second game)????

Toughest team Edgewood played would have to go to Turpin. Why? Because it was week 12 and the Cougars were as good as they were going to get, Edgewood had to hard of a time getting to the QB, and when they did he made excellent decisions and was very elusive. To bad Edgewood started the game with the miscues.

Thanks for the great season Edgewood. Remember great seasons are started in the OFF SEASON.

Toughest team the Cougars played (top 3)
1. Trotwood
2. Winton Woods
3. Turpin

All three of these teams were very good teams!

eaton and greenville? i thought we had valley view on for next year. kings and winton woods only two good games, and i would not say they are that good. this is no better than the mml scheduale we had.

What Do You Mean

If the schedule gets you to the playoffs and gives you a chance to host a home game, then what's the problem...your kids won't mind losing 1 game or going undefeated...will they?

Yes Eaton is very good although I think they are losing a lot mainly there quarterback.I do not understand why they are playing Greenville although they did well last year they were horrible this year and are usually not very good.It could be that they had signed to play before they new mml was going to dissolve.Anyway do not expect a whole lot of points from them.

I'm pretty sure that is correct...they were put on the schedule rotation when they came into the MML.

I feel if we keep it strictly FAVC it would be a great schedule.

eaton was a pretty young team this year, should be good practice for protecting the spread in the playoffs, talawanda should be good next year, losing less people than we did this year. i thought winton woods lost more than they did, but for like the third year in a row this is suppose to be there year.

kings had a lot of underclassmen playing varsity this year and still went 8-2 and just missing the playoffs, they return almost all of their skill players, the game will be a lot tougher than i think you believe...

The Kings game may not happen because I heard that Edgewood is trying to play in the Herbstreit Classic against Marysville TN.

But I'm not sure so don't rip me for it.

Yeah I think Kings will be tough next year. They do bring back a lot.
I feel that region 8 could come down to mostly FAVC teams again.
I look for these teams to make the playoff's or come close to them.
Turpin
Harrison
Kings
Talawanda
Edgewood
Ross- not sure what they bring back, I think they graduate a lot.
Winton Woods- not sure what they bring back.

Edgewood is bringing back a lot too.

Defense- 8 starters, and two others seeing a lot of playing time. The only position that I don't think an under classman played was DE (Lang's side)

Offense- 6 starters, replacing most of the O-line, QB and FB.

Edgewood's JV went undefeated and the freshmen only loss came from Moeller.

Ross Graduated alof of Interior players and the Backfield, but they have alot of talent in the skills and some meatheads on the line coming back so I think it should be another close game next year at ROSS!!

A little off topic but....

Top three past Edgewood QB's......

Running QB...Brandon Osborne - he ran the absolute best Wing T as far as a running game goes...took the 99 team to the State Final 4. The team had three GREAT backs and probably was a passing game from a State Title!

Best Passing QB....Matt Root...who else....best passing stats of any previous Edgewood QB....took the 03 Squad to the State Championship game....probably a tailback from a State Title that year....James Wright moved to WR the next season as Jon Elder moved in to start as a freshman.

Best Combo running and passing....I think we just seen him in Justin Bennett. Whoever comes in next season as QB has got some huge shoes to fill.

So who fits the mold for QB next season....and what will their talents be? I think we HAVE to be able to throw to make any serious playoff runs.

I see three candidates.
Nate Thomas- The best runner of the 3 QBs. I question his throwing ability. Plus he hasn't played very much QB in the past 2 years.
Brandon Marcum- best thrower of the 3 QBs, but is probably the less mobile.
Caleb Watkins- Tuns and throws well but is only a sophmore. Probably the most athletic of all 3 QBs.
This what I have witness from the JV and Freshman games. But I am only one opinion. Coach Channell will be the deciding factor.

I don't think it will be Thomas becuase he likes being at DB and he is good at it to. Also he doesn't want to be the quarterback at all really.

Like he's got a choice. If Czar Channel says Nate is the QB, JT will make sure it happens.

James Wright gained over a 1000 yards in 2003. He was hurt most of 2004. Elder never started as a freshman. When Wright was hurt, Eli Paulson started and Elder came in early.

You might be right.....until late season....I am pretty sure Elder was starting by the end of the season and Wright was full time WR

oo is right Elder never started. In 03 The Cougars were a bull headed coach not giving the ball to his fullback in the first half away from a state championship.

we were one bad play call, one dropped pass in the endzone and one kid named wallace kicking field goals away from a state title in 03.we were inside wallace's range twice that game.

Everyone knows what went on. He had asst. coaches pick him up for school all year. Other kids tutored him, Blah Blah Blah. And he waits for the biggest game in Edgewoods history to make a stand. Looks like he had to be center stage again.

This should be the motto for next year, like it was a few years ago.

What is up with being on the fourth page?

Lets talk some football! It is time to move past 2006 and start talking 2007! How about some opinions on next season? Who will be the starters on both offense and defense? Young talent moving up from the freshmen and J.V. teams? Suprise talent that we might not have heard about? How far will we go next year? Just because our season is over doesn't mean we have to be quiet till August!!!!
