NHL Playoffs

NHL Playoffs start Wednesday. Can the Pens three peat? Can the Caps get over the hump? Nashville might be the favorite going forward.

The Penguins defense is trash. I honestly would not be surprised if it takes them 7 just to beat Philly

Matchups are set, East should be especially awesome. Starts Wednesday. In typical NHL fashion the games will be on channels that noone expects an NHL game to be on. The Wednesday TB/NJ and ANA/SJ game 1 will be on the Golf Channel. Lmao

EAST:
Tampa Bay vs New Jersey
Boston vs Toronto
Washington vs Columbus
Pittsburgh vs Philly

WEST:
Nashville vs Colorado
Winnipeg vs Minnesota
Las Vegas vs LA
Anaheim vs San Jose

I'll take:

Tampa in 5
Boston in 6
Columbus in 7
Pittsburgh in 7

Nashville in 5
Winnipeg in 6
Las Vegas in 6
San Jose in 7

Pittsburgh vs Tampa in ECF
Nashville vs Winnipeg in WCF

Tampa def Nashville in SCF

Didn't care to look up how the reseeding will work so those matchups might not happen.

NHL Playoffs

Still think it's dumb that the seeding is by divisions with the 2nd and 3rd teams playing. Should go back to the way it was. I think the 3 best teams are in the Atlantic division

Toronto has 105 points and opens on the road vs Boston. Has to play the 2 high point teams in the first 2 rounds.

The 4 best teams in the NHL would have to play each other in round 2. Jets /preds and bruins/lightning if they advance

System doesn't really reward the regular season much at all.

At least only one game is on NHL network. For some reason that's on a higher tier cable package than MLB NFL or NBA. I'm not paying extra for just that network

I just upgraded my TV package with Dish for a few months to get the NHL Network and about 60 other stations. I think its an extra $17.00 Much cheaper than going to a bar to watch the Pens and spending $20+ a visit. I hope I'm wrong but I have the feeling it might be a short run this year. Of course I said that last year too.

NHL Playoffs

You can get NHL tv for like 100 bucks a year and watch every game of your team. Or it's like 120-125 for every game of every team. Can watch on roku on your tv or on iPad and such elsewhere

I do that to watch the Leafs

Agree. Just take the top 8 from each conference. I blame Bettman

Crosby with a Hat Trick. Two goals deflected out of the air. Highlight tape material.

Winnipeg wins their first playoff game since the 90s. Something positive for the people of Manitoba after a rough week

If you are referring to Humboldt, it is located in Saskatchewan, not Manitoba.

But definitely something positive for the people of Manitoba who have been waiting for that win for 8 years.

Cheering for the exact opposite of this. I throughly enjoy the current streak of keeping the Canadian franchises from winning the highest honor in their national sport. Personally, I root for anyone playing a Canadian team, followed by the Jackets, and Penguins (based on the Lemieux and Jagar days). Although the Nashville and Vegas fanbases do make them fun to cheer for.

Expecting a much closer and chippy game tonight. The Pens defense is going to show their true ability at some point.

Based on his scoring pace after a slow start, I see him being a 40 goal, 100 point guy next year, which takes him from "really good" to "elite".

I've done that a few times when the Leafs have been blacked out on NHL.tv. You just need to be careful if you're following whatever team and their game day threads as the reddit feeds are usually 3-4 minutes behind.

Three Stanley Cups in eight years isn't too bad of a prize for not being able to manage the salary cap.
