Good luck to Burrow wherever he lands.
The consensus on Martell seems to be he's a great athlete trying to play QB while Haskins is a QB. I would be more surprised if Martell makes a single start ahead of Haskins.

Get ready to be surprised. He isn't even in the discussion. There's a reason Burrow and Haskins both went up against the 1st team defense in the spring game.

And now Wayne Davis has transferred. The Buckeyes sit at 85 scholarships.

QB seems to be locked up. Haskins did look good against scum. Bucks going to be run heavy this year?

I'd hope not. Haskins is a better passer the JT was and the WR talent is pretty good. I'm hoping for a big season from Hill.

This ^

I think for the offense to be at its best this season, they should be using the vertical passing abilities of Haskins to setup the run. Dobbins is a special back but against the championship caliber teams they are going to be able to throw the deep ball.

The best example of this is when Barrett got hurt in 2014 and Cardale took over. Teams didnít know how to prepare against him and against Bama Zeke was able to go off like a madman because of the passing threat that Jones possessed. Having the best offensive line in college football that year probably contributed too.

Really excited to see how the offense looks under Kevin Wilson with this QB.

I'm excited to see it IF Kevin Wilson actually is allowed to run the offense, or if Urban demands Haskins be misused as a read option Tebow/JT QB...much like the botched attempt to do it with Cardale that likely cost a second natty.

Now that the Cavs are done, this question moves up to near the top in the sports corner of my brain. The potential for immediate success makes it more interesting than the Browns for me.

Not sure about that. The Browns are one of the most interesting teams in the league heading into the season. Should be drastically improved if Hue Jackson isn't a complete moron. Could be a great Fall with two good Ohio teams.

Hue may self-destruct in front of the Hard Knocks cameras. I almost expect it.

He had better not listen to the radio for a few days after each new episode airs. He seems to have a thin skin.

That said, winning games is far more interesting.

I hope not. Day was an Urban GA at Florida and an OC under Urban's boy Addazzio at Temple and BC. That would be a strong indicator of continuing Urban's offense. At least Wilson has run uber-prolific offenses that differed from Urban's.

Day, by all accounts, has been the one pushing for a more RB-running/QB-throwing offense as opposed to Meyer's traditional offense.

We can only hope. We will find out soon enough. I just hope they don't shackle Haskins' arm. Heck, even Tressel opened up the offense when he had Troy Smith and a slew of great WR's.

Anyone calling for Meyer's head is kidding themselves. Outside of NC wins, he has the best numbers of any OSU coach in history.

JT was a good coach who got too comfortable. He's the same guy that beat Miami, he should have been able to beat Florida that year. He had the talent on the field.

Both great coaches of differing styles.

A couple things I'd like to point out.

1). When Tressel came to OSU the talent was there but not like it was when Urban arrived. OSU was also owned by Michigan at that time and he went to Ann Arbor and beat the Wolverines.

2). Urban picked OSU at the perfect time. Still lots of talent/top national facilities. The guy is a great coach, and he has certainly earned the right to pick and choose but he did not take over a program that was that far off it's rocker.

3). Tressel owned UM and he got OSU to the title game three times. The first they beat a team with more talent. The second they lost to a team that peaked at the right time AFTER beating UM in the classic #1 vs. #2 game. Tough to go UP after a game like that and of course there was the Heisman curse. Had that OSU team played Florida earlier it would have been a game that the Buckeyes could have won. That was a great team with loads of talent but much like 2014 it was all about timing. In the third National Title game against LSU the Buckeyes were probably not the team that should have been playing the Tigers but as a coach what do you do? Turn it down? Tell the media you do not believe you should be there?

I am not a Buckeye fan and always thought Tressel was a tad too conservative at times (like most). But there is no denying how good of a coach he is/was.

What got Tressel in the end? His greatest strength became his weakness and that was loyalty. He cared about the kids he recruited and coached and in protecting them when he should have hammered them it cost him his job.

On the eve of camp tOSU fires WR Coach Zach Smith due to domestic violence issues. Not a very good look for Meyer as Smith has been with him for quite a while and is the last guy left from the initial Meyer tOSU staff in 2012. Looks like Brian Hartline will assume the position at this time.

This is rapidly turning into a real sh1t show during the slowest sports season. The talk radio clowns and web click whores are rolling in steaming fetid piles of reckless speculation!! What a pathetic bunch of hacks

I agree that Ohio State still had some talent and great facilities when Urban arrived, but that's almost always true in Columbus. However, the Buckeyes went 6-7 under Luke Fickell the year before Urban got there, and they were facing NCAA sanctions that ended up including a bowl ban his first year.

So, the situation wasn't all rosy when Urban arrived. It certainly wasn't some well-oiled, humming machine.

It's a sign of our times, OSU football coach fired for domestic violence in what seems to be a long time cover up, the wrestling fiasco and now a swim / diving coach with groping and sex allegations.
And this isn't an OSU thing, it happens so much at our college campuses across the country. Local media, especially the big time programs are often shielded from the truth or even worse, look the other way so they don't lose their valuable leads. It's just really sad that the quest to be part of a college sports program blinds so many people from doing what's right.

Itís never a good look, but sounds like nobody knew about his 2015 incident until recently. Iím also not a fan of the current culture where we throw people under the bus for stuff that someone else did. At the end of the day, Zach Smith is responsible for whatever he did, and Urban has fired him. Off our plate now IMO
