Boys
Why does Dayton have 9 regional qualifiers but Cincinnati have 8 regional qualifiers? Both have 29 D1 teams. Math does not make sense to me.

I think the most likely explanation is that there were more teams that finished 5 last year at Dayton than in Cincinnati. There is a similar situation with Troy getting 6 girls teams qualifying in D1 while Pickerington gets 5, with the same number of teams listed. So I assume that there were actually more teams that finished 5 in the SW than in the central.

I hate this skewed data.

I was wondering how OHSAA scores teams such as soccer, basketball or even football when the clock runs out.

(1) Soccer- 11 players needed to have a team. What if a team gets a red card in the tournament and the team finished with only 10 people on the field. Does OHSAA not count this team the following year?

Same could be said for any other team sport that loses a player or forgets to put a player in on the final play and only has 10 men on the field.

I half wonder if they just alternated them from last year from Dayton to West Chester to balance it out. The girls have fewer teams than the boys and got one more team.

That may well be. In the past when they were moving teams to different regionals (the last time we got rid of unbalanced regionals) there was some back and forth when the numbers were the same but only one location got the extra spot.

That is because there are 100 less girls team in the state but the same number makes it to regional.
