Centerville is going to Paul Short in Philly. A good test for the girls.

I checked the weather forecast for Akron on Friday in hopes that there might be a big dump of rain to make things fun at CVNP for the Woodridge Invite. It looks like a little bit is forecasted but not enough to turn the course into slop. Even without the slop the kids will face the most demanding course they will see all year.

Pick Central will be at Hiiliard MMOC but without Matt Scrape. What other teams are there?

The Stark County XC Championships is this weekend at GlenOak HS. All 20 schools in the county attend. This marks the 50th annual running of the meet for the boys and the 38th for the girls. The combination of unseasonably hot weather and no rain in the past 3 weeks means the course will be hard as a rock. It was already quite hard, burned out, and browned last weekend for the Malone Invitational (meet was moved to GO due to construction at Malone U.)

Jackson appears to be a heavy favorite for the boys team title. The race for runner-up may come down to whether or not GlenOak's pack can overcome East Canton's frontrunners. Those 3 teams have been a cut above the rest of the county so far this season. As for an individual favorite, I can't come up with one; maybe 1 of Jackson's top 2 (Regas & Akers) or 1 of East Canton's top 2 (Snellenberger & Conrad).

Jackson girls also look like a slight favorite on the girls' side, but I'd never count out GlenOak's girls in a big meet on their home course. There are many other solid but not great teams on the girls' side, so if any team has a bad race, it could plummet in the standings. Individually, Morgan Cole of Louisville is the favorite if she runs (IIRC, she splits time with another sport). Behind her is a long list of contenders: Bartolone from Perry, Scott from Minerva, Weiner from Jackson, Pumneo from Fairless, Wertz from GlenOak, Viscounte from Marlington, Ohman from St. Thomas Aquinas, and Berrios from Lake.

Total All-Time Boys Overall Team Titles:
Hoover: 12
Louisville: 5
Jackson: 4

Biggest D1 meet in NW is at Oregon Clay which as moved from Person park because park district will no longer allow CC meets at their parks. It is now at the Oregon Rec Department across from the HS.

The results will be a big factor in the seeding for districts. Participating boys schools based on starting boxes assignments.

Tol. Rogers, Tol. Start, Whitmer, Findlay, Perrysburg, Tol. St. Johns, Anthony Wayne, Sly Northview (interesting Mathking also listed them at MMOC, wouldn't think big enough team to split), Clay, Springfield, Tol. Waite and Maumee.

The Salem boys finished fourth at the Woodridge-CVNP. A nice showing by a very young team finishing fourth behind winner Kenston, runner-up Rocky River and third place Woodridge.

Jackson owned the team competitions at the 50th running of the Stark County meet. Their boys dominated the varsity race ahead of GlenOak's tight pack. Jackson's girls used their depth to score a tight win over Louisville who had 2 of the top 4 placers and GlenOak who had 4 girls under 20:00. Both Jackson's boys and girls won the JV team titles and the middle school team titles.

East Canton boys and Minerva girls won the DII-DIII team titles.

Individually, Evan Akers of Jackson outlasted his teammate Nick Regas and Lake freshman Nathan Moore to win the boys race in 15:58 while Maddy Bartolone of Perry ran a strong 2nd half of the race to win the girls competition in 18:44 ahead of Minerva's McKenzie Scott and Louisville's Cassidy Kiko.

27 boys broke 17:00 (1 was in the JV/open race), and 18 girls broke 20:00 thanks to a fine combination of racing conditions: partly cloudy skies, breezy, cool, good competition, and a rock hard course that hasn't seen rain in more than 3 weeks.

Rocky River is the team to beat in Boy's D2. Lexington might be able to with those incredible top 3.

I, just took a good look at both Rocky River’s, Heath, Bay, NDCL, and Lexington’s roster, season and common opponents, and I came up with this.

1, Rocky River. Lexington might be stronger at 1 thru 3 but not by much. The Pirates will make up any difference at number four.

2. Lexington they will run with anyone in the front. But in a larger field like Tiffin, and the State Meet it might be difficult to hide their five.

3. Heath in their race against RR and Bay, it showed that RR as more speed and depth,,but Heath’s weak fifth runner can be balancedout by their strong number one against Bay. A larger field could be their undoing also.

4. Bay, they look a lot like Rocky River, but will have to beat them man to man to win it all. And right now they give up a little in the front, If RR has a bad day lookout.

5. NDCL. As the season wears on their pack has to stay tight but more importantly they have to move closer to the front to be effective, With a weaker #5 their 1-2 runners cannot make up the difference,

CVC, I would say you have made a really good evaluation here.
River and Lexington have the most up front. The other 3 are well balanced.
I would have Heath in 5th, as Bay has done much better since they raced them, and NDCL has been so tough and consistent.
Bay also has the most depth, as they won at Gilmour and Vermilion this weekend.

Historically, Woodridge does not improve much the last 4 weeks of the season, so I guess that's why they were completely left out of the discussion. Well, maybe they will get it together next year.

You, know that’s not true psycho-dad. Woodridge ran both Rocky River and NDCL and both times they matched up very well with both teams. They are a lot stronger then NDCL in the front. And they go back and forth against RR until you get to the number four runner. if, Rocky River is the top team in D2 ...then Woodridge does have a slim chance to beat them....

um... Unioto beat lexington and woodridge head to head and has only lost one time to heath. Not saying they are the best, but why are they not even being considered?

They should be considered....they have run well all season and i ove their grouping. Rocky River seems to be the clear favorite. Tbey had no problem with any D2 team they faced Bay,Heath, Woodridge, or NDCL
