It was targeting by the rule; rule sucks

"No player shall target and make forcible contact to the head or neck area of a defenseless opponent (See Note 2 below) with the helmet, forearm, hand, fist, elbow or shoulder. This foul requires that there be at least one indicator of targeting (See Note 1 below). When in question, it is a foul (Rules 2-27-14 and 9-6). (A.R. 9-1-4-I-VI)

Note 1: "Targeting" means that a player takes aim at an opponent for purposes of attacking with forcible contact that goes beyond making a legal tackle or a legal block or playing the ball. Some indicators of targeting include but are not limited to:

..............................
Leading with helmet, shoulder, forearm, fist, hand or elbow to attack with forcible contact at the head or neck area.....................

"definition of "defenseless player," .....A receiver attempting to catch a forward pass or in position to receive a backward pass, or one who has completed a catch and has not had time to protect himself or has not clearly become a ball carrier....

I disagree with that. The hit was all chest. The receiver turned before he got hit (even lowered his head). Obviously knew it was coming.

Not targeting.

Not happy with the special teams. Otherwise, they are playing well.

Unfortunately, Urban Meyer likes these gimmick special teams even though he has the best athletes on the field.

Now THAT was targeting. Arnett should have known better. QB was clearly not going anywhere.

That one was fairly obvious. Not sure how the officials missed it at first.

Doubtless. Maybe with about ten more years experience making these calls, the refs will get them right.

Suggestion: Just like George CantStanGa, do "the opposite"! Think it's targeting, don't call it and vice-versa.

In other words no more hard hitting. The powers to be are ruining the game.

Yep; in this case the ref on the field called it and then the video people looked at it and confirmed the call.
I don't like the rule; this is what they are calling in today's college game.

How dare you use facts to show that not one single part of this assinine rule was applicable to that hit.

And there are zero repercussions for the officials.

Officials are worse than any group - even politicians - in evaluating the perfomance of their peers.

Interesting take from PFF about OSU: https://247sports.com/pffcollege/Bol...lege-108628592.

They're all about player grades, so it's not the same as a normal ranking. Still interesting to see.

Never ceases to amaze me how people lose the plot after a couple blowouts against bad or struggling teams. The next time the Buckeyes play someone on their level they'll look like they've never played offense before.

Right. Come PSU, Barrett won't know how to let go of the football.

I think it's likely that Ohio State DOES indeed have the second best roster in college football. Unfortunately, JT is still playing QB and we've all seen what happens to his bubble screen offense against good defenses.

Wouldn't be surprised if Ohio State runs the table in spite of Barrett though.

OSU has a bye week and PSU plays Michigan the week before their game. It's in the Shoe. First BCS rankings are released the following Tuesday.

Everything is lined up for a big win that puts them back in playoff contention. If JT shi** the bed against PSU, you have to move to a young backup.

Meyer would never bench JT. We're stuck watching him until next season.

Bubble screen offense is alive and well on first drive. Can't figure out why Paris Campbell still plays. Has two drops minimum every game. Offensive line looks like it will dominate again

Nebraska really messed up hiring Riley. They are so mediocre it's hard to watch.

Yeah Riley is horrible. Nebraska should be ashamed, given their history.
