Mother Nature?

Well were just 2 weeks till the games begin. Will we be lucky enough to have better weather than last season ? As unreliable as extended forecasts go I still went ahead and looked, next week will be very cold and most likely still have snow on the ground from the snow were expecting in the next few days. But the week after theres a nice warming trend. Our first game is March 23 and the expected temperature is calling for mid to upper 50's in Stark County. The first week of the season looks good if the fields have a chance to dry out. Man oh man the weather has to be better than last spring. Oh yes the optimism is running high. Just want to hear those beloved words ( Play Ball).

Same story, different year.

The twist this year is that extra week the state granted the season.
I really hope that extra time puts some sense into coaches in dealing with their pitching staffs and are smarter with the first few outings when it is cold out.

So true. Can't remember what school it was but kids first outing 42 degrees and let him out there for 100+ pitches. If that's my kid the. Coach would of gotten an ear full. Plus a visitor to the dugout.

Unfortunately, that is not a rare occurrence. I once heard a coach justity it by saying he had built his arm strength in Jan-March by throwing in the gym.
Quite a bit of difference from no stress inside warm gym throwing to doing so in thes.

I saw a coach last spring throw a 12 year old 103 pitches the first weekend in early april in a meaningless pool play game with temps barely reaching 40.

That kid had arm issues the rest of the season.

As we know there are new rules put into place last year, but there are ways to still abuse a kids arm but stay in the rules in place

I always hope we don't shatter one of our $500 bats when it's this cold.

At least we won't have weeds growing in the dirt infield.

Unfricken believable. Silly me I've been looking at the 10 day extended forecast. Why I don't know they can't even get the 3 day right.

You know the drill for Ohio.

That is why we used to do a lot of outdoor stuff this time of year on the blacktop parking lot in a winter jacket and hat!

BTW--1 April a book about Coach Brunswick is supposed to be released.

Seems like this year isn't so bad so far. Alot less snow and rain flooding the fields right before the season starts. Went out onto a couple fields that last few days and they are solid. As long as we avoid any major snow/rain storms, the season should get a good start even if it is a little cold.
